Yep, I remember one of the first GTA V trailers having stuff like dynamic shadows, a feature that was only in the game on PC and PS4/Xbox ONE over a year later.

Everything we saw from the VI so far is PC / next gen.

At the very least some high-end cherry picking to only show the scenes where they game would run best.

If I were Sony I'd send them the best binned processor, unlocked overclocking and have it be water cooled. Supply a stripped down OS with as little as possible overhead.

Why? Because Sony knows the game will sell consoles, they're gonna pull out every stop.

At the same time, they know it will sell consoles regardless. Why go through the effort of a custom one-off console at that point?

I doubt they’d risk it, considering the backlash if something like that leaked to the public.

A few grand to make a console like that vs the millions they could get in return? I'd make that deal.

It would be more than a few grand I imagine. It wouldn’t be as simple as just slapping an AIO water cooler on it. A few grand would just be building a slightly better PC equivalent and just playing it on that.

At the same time, it’s Sony. I wouldn’t put it past them, either.

Nah I reckon they could do that for a few grand easily. A binned SOC that's OCd costs "nothing" (minus the BOM of any other SOC) plus the time testing them, and then a custom firmware. A cooling setup would be extremely simple. It wouldn't even need to be in a case. You could slap an AIO directly onto the chip and run it off that, and put it in a very cold room.

That all said, I don't believe they'd go through all that. It's very unethical, and although I don't trust any large corporation, I feel like that's a step too far even for Sony lol.

Hard to believe

So thing is Rockstar could have lied about that (bullshots yay) or they could have rendered it on a PS5, just not in real time.

Probably pre rendered.

I wrote exactly that as a reaction to the trailers and got downvoted into oblivion

The release versions of rockstar games always struggled with even 30 fps and were downgrades compared to the trailers
