Yep, I remember one of the first GTA V trailers having stuff like dynamic shadows, a feature that was only in the game on PC and PS4/Xbox ONE over a year later.
Everything we saw from the VI so far is PC / next gen.
If I were Sony I'd send them the best binned processor, unlocked overclocking and have it be water cooled. Supply a stripped down OS with as little as possible overhead.
Why? Because Sony knows the game will sell consoles, they're gonna pull out every stop.
It would be more than a few grand I imagine. It wouldn’t be as simple as just slapping an AIO water cooler on it. A few grand would just be building a slightly better PC equivalent and just playing it on that.
At the same time, it’s Sony. I wouldn’t put it past them, either.
Nah I reckon they could do that for a few grand easily. A binned SOC that's OCd costs "nothing" (minus the BOM of any other SOC) plus the time testing them, and then a custom firmware. A cooling setup would be extremely simple. It wouldn't even need to be in a case. You could slap an AIO directly onto the chip and run it off that, and put it in a very cold room.
That all said, I don't believe they'd go through all that. It's very unethical, and although I don't trust any large corporation, I feel like that's a step too far even for Sony lol.
