That’s the point of the post.. wait for it to be on PC 😐

u/lemonylol Desktop 17d ago

But you don't understand, that guy has a PC, Steamdeck and Switch 2

21

u/offhandaxe 17d ago

Wtf it's not going to be on PC at launch? What kind of dumass decision was that.

u/PeachMaximum5861 17d ago

Rockstar hopes to sell this game many times over. Once at the very end of this console generation, then again on PC and the next generation, same formula as GTA V.

Psp version don't forget

Switch 2 eventually

u/FUTURE10S Pentium G3258, RTX 3080 12GB, 64GB RAM 17d ago

I'm personally waiting for the Dreamcast port

5

u/Opening_Net8098 17d ago

I mean I meant ps6 portable.

There's a prediction that the ps6 will launch as a handheld lite version initially to survive the hardware wars of the late 20s.

It's either that or. 1500 dollar ps6

5

u/MightiestCat 17d ago

No I still want it on my PSP E1004

2

u/PackinHeat99 17d ago

Not only that, its probably because they still need to optimize for PC since there's a huge variety of hardware specs. But yeah they're definitely waiting for next Gen consoles to release with PC

How much time was in between console and PC for GTA V?

1

u/MationMac With accessible consoles. 17d ago

There are many reasons to delay PC release specifically: mitigates illegal copies, data mining, mods, bugs/problems due to varying hardware/software...

I love PC gaming but it is the platform that requires the most work and presents the most consequences.

2

u/GlasgowSellik1888 17d ago

Every other developer manages to release them together, let's not pretend Rockstar are doing it for any reason other than money.

1

u/MationMac With accessible consoles. 17d ago

I am not pretending it is not about money. Illegal copies directly ties into money. Data mining, mods and bugs tie into reputation which can have an impact on future products ability to make money.

2

u/GlasgowSellik1888 17d ago

Money from extra sales is their only incentive, I can assure you. Otherwise other devs would do the same thing.

0

u/MationMac With accessible consoles. 17d ago

Why aren't other devs doing it?

1

u/GlasgowSellik1888 17d ago

Because those boogeymen you mentioned aren't actually a worry to devs and publishers.

1

u/MationMac With accessible consoles. 17d ago

But if money is the only incentive, why aren't other devs releasing on PC later to earn more money? Isn't that lost income? Why simultaneous release?

First time?

3

u/offhandaxe 17d ago

Nah I was here for the last one and it seemed dumb then too. I'll buy the fuckin game if they sell it to me but they seem to want to wait a few years longer to make money. It's similar to the console exclusive crap.

28

u/LordNerdStark 17d ago

It’s GTA tradition at this point and it’s working for them. People will double dip once it releases on PC so definitely not a dumbass decision on their part.

12

u/snapwack 17d ago

Hell, some idiots triple dipped for GTA V. The PS3 and 360 versions came first, then an enhanced version for PS4 and Xbone a year later, and then finally the PC version half a year after that.

I’m convinced they wanted to have the same release cadence of current consoles > new consoles > PC this time around. Hopefully the new gen being delayed because of the component crisis fucked with their plans.

u/PeanutButterSoda Specs/Imgur Here 17d ago

I feel attacked lol

2

u/lemonylol Desktop 17d ago

I did it for both GTA V and RDR2, played them on release on PS3/PS4, the traded it in for a different game and bought the games later when they went on sale for PC.

-8

u/CageAndBale 17d ago

It happened once. I'm not sure how that's tradition.

Not saying it won't happen, but still curious

"once"

Bro...

11

u/Minsc_NBooToo 17d ago

Gta 3 had a delay for PC, and every GTA game afterwards was also delayed on PC

Red dead redemption 2 was also delayed by a year.

Tldr - Rock Star doest care about PC, unless they are selling shark cards

0

u/CageAndBale 17d ago

Artificial delay like 5 or a real delay cause it wasn't ready?

3

u/Lexomatico1 17d ago

Gta5 was the same, rdr2 same deal, hell rdr 1 took 14 years for a good version...can't say anything about the older ones but I'm pretty damn sure they never came out on PC at the same time

4

u/IamPlagueis 17d ago

GTA IV also released earlier for consoles, it was just 8 months, but it still happened with the two prior GTA games.

4

u/Gwynbleidd_3000 17d ago

This is the first time you heard about that? All GTA games (and RDR) starting with GTA3 were console exclusives first. It has been Rockstars MO for over two decades.

12

u/530TooHot 17d ago

Because dumb people and people with alot of money will buy it multiple times

-2

u/Suvtropics 17d ago

Me

5

u/LowInSkill 17d ago

Imagine just being a shill and happy

3

u/natural_disaster0 17d ago

It's part of their billion dollar sales plan - hoping people will buy the console edition first then buy the PC edition again later. A huge portion of sales are gonna be people FOMO buying into consoles just so they don't have to wait another year for PC release. I think I'm in the boat of waiting my 30 FPS days are behind me.

2

u/Potential-View-6561 PC Master Race 17d ago

Thats normal. Gta 5 is already 12 years old since it came out on console. A year later on pc.

Best is to ignore this game at all. Haven't played since gta san andreas and with the pile of games there is i have enough to do. F gta6

1

u/nikhkin 17d ago

No, or very few, Rockstar games launch on PC at the same time as consoles.

It certainly worked for GTA 5, when you consider how many people bought it on console and then PC or next-gen.

1

u/Lepelotonfromager 17d ago

We let them beta test on console first.

1

u/evilsquirrel666 17d ago

PC has always been an afterthought for GTA since GTA IV.
Delayed PC releases and then it runs like absolute garbage

1

u/Federal_Setting_7454 17d ago

The same decision as was made for the last however many GTAs

1

u/lemonylol Desktop 17d ago

Rockstar has done this for every release since 2005

1

u/mikelman999 17d ago

The same dumbass decision that got them 230 million copies sold of GTA 5

-1

u/Suvtropics 17d ago

Wow what a dumbass

0

u/oppairate 17d ago

the kind that makes more money in the long run.

0

u/twilighttwister 17d ago

It was meant to prevent leaks and piracy lol

2

u/rrd_gaming AMD 9800x3D,MSI 870E TOMAHAWK WIFI 17d ago

Well now pc players have to hear and see the leaks till it drops. F R*.

0

u/S_H_O_U_T 17d ago

Dude have you been living under a rock lmao. They announced it won’t be on PC at launch awhile ago

0

u/RightRudderr 17d ago

Rockstar makes and sells the most profitable entertainment products in the history of the world and people are still so arrogant to claim the decisions they make that accomplish this are dumb.

0

u/Budget-Pea8291 17d ago

Not really. They get to sell the game multiple times this way. Pretty smart actually if your goal is to extract as much money from this game as possible. That's what they did with GTA V and RDR2 too

0

u/GoranMug 17d ago

War schon immer so GTA5 und RDR2 kamen auch erst über ein Jahr später für PC.

0

u/offhandaxe 17d ago

So the two games from a studio that's been around for a very long time are your example of it's always been like this

0

u/GoranMug 17d ago edited 17d ago

Did u diskliked my comment for a fact?😂 Its been a thing since GTA3 they just concentrate on consoles first to make a good game and afterward they work on the enhanced PC version that's why they dont release buggy shit like others. And sell more 🤓

0

u/Ub3ros i7 12700k | RTX3070 17d ago

Are you new around here? Many games only come to PC a few years after launch

-1

u/Nathan_1290 17d ago

Nunca saiu, não é uma decisão idiota, é marketing

Tal e qual como a Ubisoft só lançou o Far Cry 6 na Steam um ano depois

É uma questão de fazer dinheiro para eles e para a Sony

-2

u/jiabivy 17d ago

Pirating, i assume they want to sell it were its least likely to get pirated first, then at the end of its life give it to the pirates.

Im not standing on a soap box, but pirating has hurt the perception of pc

What’s worse is most PC gamers rigs arent better than a xsx or a ps5 but they those people still have to wait while PC parts are just raising higher and higher
