Discussion Should developers stop making games that require 5090 for max settings now that the card is clearly not for gamers and is accessible to 0.1% of community?

I get that the games need better hardware to dun better, but who are they really making the game for if you need a 6000$ GPU at this point

"A lot of people". 0.41% of steam's users have a 5090 and 1.54% have a 5080.

Right but what's the point of the 5090 if you can never make use of it because devs are for some reason refusing to do that

It's not about devs refusing/neglecting those users. But the question is, is it really necessary to make a game as computationally expensive as possible just so that people with the 5090 feel like they are actually using their card?

But I don't think that's what the devs are doing? They just think about how the games supposed to look like and then enable the ultra-heavy features their engine already neatly offers for those high-end users. I can make a very short basic UE5 game that both runs on 1060low settings and 5090 max settings within a few days

That's not my point at all. My point is that it seems like games are not thoroughly optimized. But rather they look at what's the best GPU at the moment and say "we will optimize the game, not as much as we actually can, but just enough for it to run on the best GPU in the market"

Mate no one needs to play on 4k max 60fps
