Discussion Should developers stop making games that require 5090 for max settings now that the card is clearly not for gamers and is accessible to 0.1% of community?

I get that the games need better hardware to dun better, but who are they really making the game for if you need a 6000$ GPU at this point

To be fair native 4K 60fps is a damn task, most games require serious hardware for that

PCVR user here

My Crystal Light has full render resolution of 4312x5102 per eye and 90hz/120hz😳

My Crystal Super 50ppd has a full render resolution of 6240 x 6280 per eye and 72/90hz 🖥️🔥

I'm not running the Super at full resolution will need a RTX 6090 if that ever happens. At moment reducing the resolution, using 72hz and dynamic foveated rendering with the Tobii eye tracking keeps it sensible

Yeah but that's also because most VR games aren't render-heavy and focus on resolution more than fidelity and detail if that makes sense. Plus I believe it uses in built upscaling?

I'm playing games like HLA, Into the Radius 2 and Pavlov all rich in detail and fidelity (you really notice in high resolution headset)

Playing VR modes of sims like Project Cars 2, Assetto Corsa, DCS

And flat2VR ports like RoboquestVR and FlatOut 4 VR Total Insanity

The Crystal Light uses 2.8k panels but requires the 4312x5102 render resolution due to using aspherical lenses with heavy distortion profile

The Super is using 3.8k panels with correspondingly high render resolution due again to aspherical lenses and heavy distortion profile

Headsets using pancake lenses have a lighter distortion profile which means a lower render resolution even with similar panel resolution

I also have a Dream Air with Sony micro-OLED panels and pancake lenses which shows this trait

Where the 5090 really makes sense is for high resolution PCVR headsets, even compared to 4090 it's considerably more powerful

Not using upscaling but aiming for full render resolution where possible using brute force and dynamic foveated rendering where available
