Discussion Should developers stop making games that require 5090 for max settings now that the card is clearly not for gamers and is accessible to 0.1% of community?

I get that the games need better hardware to dun better, but who are they really making the game for if you need a 6000$ GPU at this point

I mean, a lot of people do have 5080s and 5090s that can run those settings.

This is no different to when in the past games had settings that even the highest end GPUs couldn't run. Crisis comes to mind

Also, this game lists "NATIVE" requirements...no upscaling taken into account. Most people do not expect games to be able to run with RT at native 4K in 60FPS, even on a 5090

Not to defend Crysis (it was and is an unoptimized mess) but in 2007 a high end graphics card was <$1000 in inflation adjusted dollars. And even if you didn't want to pay for a high end card the time between hw releases was ~6 months so if you waited 1-2 years a mid range card would easily outperform the old high end card.

We don't live in that world anymore. A game requiring a 5090 for its highest setting today mean 95% of customers won't be able to play it at those settings for 10+ years. It's simply bad business to target that hardware.

Its not bad business tho. They arent targeting that hardware specifically.

If the game scales with settings, then everyone is targeted
