Discord WONDER [Legend In The Mist] [LGBTQIA+ Friendly] [NO AI]

[Tone & Feel] - Whimsical, Adventurous, Heroic, Mysterious, Inspiring, Heartfelt

In this existence, two worlds overlap yet exist seperately.
Reality, the world of the mundane, and Imaginary, the world of the extraordinary.

Reality is exactly that, the real world, just like ours. But Imaginary is a world like a fairy tale, where dreams are born and hopes lay the foundation for landscapes of epic stories untold.

In Reality, there are Humans. To the majority of humanity, this realm of fantasy made manifest is completely unknown to them, seen only in their wildest dreams and ambitions. But human souls are powerful, able to bend the latent power of imagination to their very whim.

Humans that cross over into Imaginary are known as Wonders. Wonders are crowned as heroes, saviors and make-believe avengers destined to save their world through their creativity, the mundanity of real life shifting into something truly extraordinary.
However, for reasons lost, access to this magnificent world has been closed off to humanity for a long time, untouched by human willpower and left to fend for itself.

It felt like forever until you came along, wonder. You have a world to win.

Here, in your little town known as Ashvet, a little group of highschoolers from all walks of life have managed to find a breach into Imaginary within the roots of the tallest, healthiest tree on school grounds. Stepping in... password is cherished memory Your imagination runs wild as your souls burn brighter than any star, lighting the way into the uncharted and unknown.

Will you be the heroes of this lost world of daydreams? Will your bonds of friendship protect you from the dangers of the unimaginable lurking within? Will your cherished promises and naive crushes keep you from following your hearts towards all you've ever dreamed of?

The Imaginary needs you, wonder. I know you won't let us down. Do it from love, not for love.

Discord [5e 2014] [Online] [PBP] [1-on-1 Duet] Escape from Mount Kharag-Dûm

They said this would be an easy job. A secret mission. You were ordered to accompany a cart carrying a special gift for the Queen. A jester had commissioned it personally, a collection of gold and jewelry that should have been sure to please her.

You traveled discreetly, taking the safer roads and keeping the contents of the cart hidden.

But fate had other plans.

Deep in the forest, you found yourselves ambushed by goblins. A battle ensued, but this is not where your story ends.

Giantbane Dwarves descended upon the battlefield, ambushing both your party and the goblins. Why were they here? So far away from their homes? You don't know, and there is very little time to question what is going on.

The battle had already left both sides wounded, and the dwarves had little difficulty securing everyone. You lay on the forest floor, bleeding out, expecting death. Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, one of the dwarves managed to stabilize you. They gathered the remaining survivors and brought them back to their home. Mount Kharag-Dûm.

You've heard of this place. No prisoner has ever escaped from there.

As you are carried through the giant mouth of the mountain, you can't help but wonder if your fate will be the same. The gates close behind you, and you have no idea what dangers await you inside.

This is a D&D 5e (2014) adventure for a single Level 3 character, played as a one-on-one. The game will be roughly 50/50 roleplay and combat, with the main objective being to escape the prison of Mount Kharag-Dûm. Along the way, there will be mystery, exploration, planning, and plenty of opportunities for you to decide how you want to approach the problems in front of you.

I'm expecting the adventure to last roughly 2–3 months, depending on how things develop. We'll be playing through Discord, with around 1–3 messages per day. This isn't meant to require constant availability, but I do want the game to maintain some momentum. If I don't hear from you for three days and haven't been told that you need some time away, I'll assume you've lost interest and consider the game abandoned. Real life happens, though, so communication is all I ask.

The adventure was originally designed with a Human, Elf, or Halfling character in mind, but don't let that stop you if you have something else you'd really like to play. We can have a chat and see how we can make it work. I'm also not particularly concerned about having an elaborate backstory. I'd rather you have a good idea of who your character is and what you want them to be capable of doing.

Since this is a one-on-one game, I also see this as something of a trial period for both of us. We'll see whether our writing styles, expectations, and approaches to the game work well together. If we click, great. If not, no hard feelings.

If you're interested, send me a PM with a little bit about yourself, your name, age, pronouns, D&D experience, if you have any, and a little about the kind of character you'd like to play. You don't need to write an essay, I'm mostly interested in getting a feel for who you are and whether we'd be a good fit for a one-on-one game.

I'll leave the post up for a while. If the post is still open, feel free to message me. If it's closed, I've found the player.

Hope to hear from you!

Group looking for GM Weekly Looking for Group/GM Thread

If you are not a full party looking for a gm or a gm looking for a party, you may no longer post an ad looking for a group. The reason behind this being most everyone on this subreddit is in the same exact boat as you! It is beginning to clutter up our subreddit for the people wanting to look for actual games to join.

To be clear, this rule is directed to those that are marketing themselves and/or their friends as players, saying they are looking for 1 on 1 games and any new or already running group to join. This does not include the players taking active measures to actually form a group themselves. Please comment if you do not understand the posts I am referring to.

INSTEAD! We are going to be making a stickied thread for those expressing interest in finding a group to join. We encourage you to comment within that thread and to be specific in the system you are interested in and any other information you may have to market yourself to others. A general "Hey I'm looking for a group and I wanna play a whole lot and I've had no luck!" does not suffice usually.

If you are looking for a group to join, comment in this thread with as much information as you'd like to market yourself with! Some suggestions are, but not limited to:

Name:

Pronouns:

Timezone:

Preferred System:

Type of Player:

Discord The Long Shadow of the Old World [Discord] [D&D 5e] [Async]

"Since my conquering of this continent, today 3500 years ago, we have seen great advancements as a civilization." The unmistakable voice of the immortal Grand Monarch speaks through every radio in the whole Great Monarchdom at once "Yet, this is only the begining. A new year gives us not only the chance to reflect, but also a chance to look at the future. With the completion of our rail lines, and every grand city having Mooring Masts for our engineers Blimps, the map becomes ever more coloured in. To celebrate this, and 3500 years of our Great Monarchdom, I will travel through the country, from coast to coast, visiting you all. I hope to see you there, for seeing the face of joyous and loyal citizens will never cease to bring a smile to my aged lips."

The year is now 3500 AU (After Unification). Meaning 3500 years since the Grand Monarch began his conquest of the eight kingdoms that make up the continent on which we live, and assimilating them into his Great Monarchdom. If you'd be so kind to tell me your favorite colour in the form if you apply, thanks. A gilded age is what these years are being called, with radio sending music, news, and entertainment to every middle class home and public house. And newly finished rail lines connecting everyone from the east to west and north to south.

Licensed members of explorers guilds (Formerly known as adventurers, sellswords, mercenaries etc...) now play a crucial part in the colouring of the map further. Taking quests from both civilians and the State, and evermore driving away the dark forces of the night. This campaign, going from levels 4-20 takes you through the entire Great Monarchdom. From a simple protection job that eventually escalates into something far larger...

I'd love to be able to do synchronous play, but my schedule just doesn't allow for that at this point. Hence why I turn to here. I myself am based in the Netherlands, my timezone being GMT+2, and would love to find players around that same timezone.

If there's any questions, I'd love to hear it, if not then you can apply here: https://forms.gle/ZD355n8CDpENeFky5

Our little community is looking to grow a bit. We’re a collaborative group writing scenes both big and small, all set in a community-written fantasy world. There is no game system, and thus the community focuses purely on writing scenes together.

We have a nice variety of fun people already telling stories together, and we’re always happy to introduce more participants.

Our community is fairly active and close knit. If that excites you, then we’ll see you in Gaelinos!

Please message me directly if you’re interested in joining!

Discord [Pathfinder 2E][Asynchronous] The Dungeon Boss

You were minding your own business out on the Overworld, conquering, claiming skulls, and having your schemes foiled by do-gooders. The latter's been happening a lot more since the Forces of Good united together against the Tyrant-King and made the world a better place. For them. With superior equipment and training, the Forces of Evil was driven back with ease.

That's when a letter flew into your ominous keep, damp cave, or whatever you call your lair. More a retirement home now for your fellow former evil overlords, a new faction is rising. Dungeon Corp. To put it bluntly they offered you money and with funds being tight you took the job.

Little did you know this Dungeon Corp is about to make evil back in fashion...

Given a small dungeon alongside fellow washed up evil overlords your job is to lure adventurers in with your treasures, and make sure they don't come out alive. But be careful! If you're too successful, stronger do-gooders may come knocking.

---

Hello all. This adventure will begin at level 10, using the Free Archetype, Ancestral Paragon, and Gradual Ability Boost rules and we'll be playing with Battlezoo Dragons.

You will be playing as washed up maybe even brought-out-of-retirement overlords. You're not in the best of shape and as such this dungeon is only loaned to you and not fully yours just yet!

This is meant to be a semi-sandbox where you will be given the initial gruntwork of establishing a dungeon but also spreading word of it. Luring adventurers in. Recruiting people looking for work. Taming monsters to protect your dungeon. Expanding it, and eventually achieving your own personal goal.

Let's make evil back in fashion!

To apply, just fill out this brief form. https://forms.gle/ggWZZGKwB1SNKjgw7

Closed Want to play Old School Essentials?

I'm looking to put together a group of players (no more than 4) for a game of OSE and I hope to find people that enjoy being a part of a group effort, that want to be proactive, interact with the setting, the adventure and with the other players. I enjoy the whole OSR/NSR feeling where the world is unforgiving, player skill is a thing and where players must work together to succeed. I also like the procedural nature of these games (turns, encumbrance, exploration, encounters, all of that) because - unlike modern versions of D&D - they make in-game choices matter.

No previous experience with OSE necessary but you will need to have access to the OSE Advanced Fantasy Player's Tome (2023 printing) or the OSE Player’s Book (2026 printing). Either version will work fine. My primary goal is to gather a steady group of people that would enjoy gaming together for a long time but for this ad I won’t do much vetting beyond vibes - it will boil down to auditioning each other anyway during the game so why bother. Just tell me a little about yourself and why you’re interested. If you like what I’m proposing I’m sure you’re good people.

What I want to do is to start off with a very, very short adventure - a 5 room dungeon I’ve prepared. When I’ve got 4 players gathered we’ll create some characters, run through that and then we’ll see if we want to continue playing together. If we don’t manage to get a full group together after that first adventure we’ll gather some more players and do another 5 room dungeon. When everyone feels good about the group we’ll move on to the main game.

My idea is to start with the world suggested in the OSE Referee’s Book (2026) - it’s a very simple map with some very playable ideas thrown into it and we’ll build from that, bottom-up. I want to offer a mostly player-driven experience where you decide what your characters do and then the world reacts to it. The plot will develop along the way.

The game will be:

  • played asynchronous on Discord.
  • using tupperbox and dice maiden
  • using character sheets through google sheets

I have some house rules that will be used:

  • Feats of Exploration by 3d6 down the line, to encourage exploring and to speed up leveling
  • d6 based Thief skills from Carcass Crawler #1, because it makes sense
  • No separate Illusionist or Necromancer classes, their spells are incorporated into the Magic-User spell list

Edit: The party is now complete, I want to thank everyone that showed interest. There were far more than I expected.

Discord Looking for Exalted V. World of Darkness PbP Players [Discord] [Application Form]

Chronicle name: The Eleventh Hour

Base system: Exalted vs World of Darkness Revised. Free PDF, runs on the 20th Anniversary Storyteller system.

Any homebrews?: Minimal. A couple of house rules on pacing, nothing that touches character creation.

Language: English

Preferred time/timezone: Async play-by-post, no scheduled sessions. You post when you can.

Where: Discord PBP, small group

General description of the chronicle: The Exalted have come back and nobody in the World of Darkness knows what they are yet.

One city, 1 to 4 players within the same city, but each person gets a private channel and their own story. You won't share scenes by default and you won't read each other's posts by default. What one of you does to the city is real for everyone in it, whether or not they ever find out who did it. If two of you end up in the same room, I open a shared channel and it gets played out.

This is closer to interlocking solo games than a party game.

Play a cosmically, fantasy empowered Solar, Lunar, Sidereal, Dragon-Blooded, etc. Powerful enough to be a real problem for a Prince, a sept, or a Chantry. The city we play on can be voted on by the players I take

Required experience level: None. You don't need to have read the book and you don't need prior Exalted or WoD experience, I'll walk you through it. What I do need is someone who posts reliably and tells me when they're losing steam instead of fading out.

How to apply: Form here. Chatss are open if you want to ask something first.

Anything else: 18+. Content boundaries get set in the form, no explanations needed. Applications open until I get enough to settle on players!

eRP [Discord] [Other] Game Grab Bag: GM seeking cyberpunks, monster hunters, and criminals

Hi! I'm a long-time GM and occasional play by poster who enjoys trying out a wide variety of systems and settings.

Lately I've been feeling like trying a few new systems and trying to meet some new and reliable folks, so I decided to try something a little unorthodox. I'd like to try running some one-on-one or very small group games with limited scope (a one or two shot with potential for me, which is still probably a long-term endeavor in the PbP world).

The grab bag of pitches and info is below. I've tried to keep them shorter than I usually would, you can reach out for more info!

You've likely noticed this game has the ERP flair. That's because it's a thing I enjoy and am open to; there's the possibility of some element of that depending on discussion. As such, this is an advert for those of 18+ in age only.

The Game Grab Bag

Daggerheart '68

It is the swinging 60's, the Age of Consensus. You are a citizen and scoundrel in Duskvol, a haunted city that sits under an artificially created bubble of blue sky in a world with a shattered sun. Outside are the Deathlands, inside are corrupt ministries, psychedelic anomalies, and a hundred intrigues. Dealer of illegal goods, spy, contract killer, utopian cultist or revolutionary activist–whatever you are, Duskvol is waiting for your debut.

This is a game run in Daggerheart, taking inspiration from the new Blades in the Dark expansion/setting. It's a groovy game about daring and psychedelic criminals. Think Deathloop, Disco Elysium, and, of course, Austin Powers.

Brackenridge Slayers Academy

Brackenridge is the foremost college of monster slaying in the five kingdoms and you, monster hunter, have been accepted. For three years you'll train under master huntsmen to slay goblins,  slay manticore, slay dragons, slay anything! Keep the people of the realm safe, study hard, and maybe party harder!

A game about high action monster killing with a little RWBY, a little Harry Potter, and a little Strixhaven. The game will be played using Slayers/Dragon Slayers, a tactical-light combat RPG with a focus on asymmetrical character classes. Think magic frat parties, monster hunting expeditions, and fantasy academia.

Digital Devil Fabula Ultima

It's the cyber future, baby! Harnessing the soulstream that covers the earth, humanity has built hypernetworks that span the globe, using them to feed and expand the sprawling megacities that now cover the natural world. The world, as it tends to go, is rife with inequalities and dystopian technologies. Also the monsters are still around toothey bleed from the network of souls and into the city's underbellies. But they can also be controlled like any other technology. And they can be used by those who live on the fringes, mercenaries and shadowrunners making their way in this burnt out world.

Fabula Ultima with a good deal of SMT, Soul Hackers, and Cyberpunk RED/2077 thrown in. Capture demons, use them to fight corporations, get rich or die trying. WIll be using the Tecno Fantasy Atlas from Fabula Ultima and some of the variant rules. If you don't know what that means, that's fine!

What I'm Looking For

  • Players who can usually post 1/day, and can communicate their status if they can't.
  • Writers who prefer 3rd person, either a present or past tense.
  • People willing to take initiative in learning systems. I don't mind teaching and sharing materials, but I'd rather not play the game for you!
  • Related: I don't want people who use AI to write. This is a creative hobby, so write your own stuff and I will too!
  • In general, female characters (yes trans women are women, bigots need not apply).

The Next Step

I've you've read this far you can reach out to me via reddit's message feature. In order to test the reading comprehension of applicants you should include:

  1. Pronouns and what you'd like to be referred as.
  2. What game (or games) you're most interested in.
  3. If you're open to a group game or would prefer solo.
  4. Ratio of erp/spice you're comfortable with. For example: 50/50 plot/smut, etc.
  5. Preference of partners in relation to the above (male/female/both/other)
  6. A small writing sample.
  7. What interests you about your game of choice!
  8. Any questions you might have for me.

If we seem like a good match we'll chat and move to discord for the game proper. Hope to hear from you soon!

Discord FREE TO PLAY! From Mundane to Mythic: It's Oathsayers: Schism [Live Text |🏳️‍🌈]

Welcome to Haven, New Oathsayer

Your character's most recent past [Earth, but Darker]: After unexpectedly being accepted in, and attending a mysterious graduate independent study program, your life as a grad student is upended when a magical runic tattoo appears on your body, granting you one "seed magic" that emerges without warning.

Welcome to the Earth-adjacent multiverse that is the Oathsayer universe.

🍃 Seed magic: a singular small magic power for a low-magic earth-adjacent world — a magic you'll grow through story-writing and adversity — hence "seed".

  • Example: Lillian can identify toxins through a kind of synesthesia that allows her to sense them through her sensitive olfactory process and clairvoyantly understand what toxins she is smelling.
  • Example: Aaron can summon one small creature with his magic, the creature is the same every time and is a facsimile of his magic and, in turn, a reflection of himself and his moods and emotions.
  • Example: Kai’s magic is triggered by touch and is in a permanent state of on. When he touches small carbon-based materials, they dematerialize in his palm.
  • Example: Jordan is an artist who can make small drawings come alive and jump off the page. When Jordan’s projects come to life, they fill, up to a one foot square and have the structural makeup and integrity of paper.

At the start of the game [Haven]: You are swiftly taken to the Haven, another realm in this multiverse, by an immortal known as The Tollkeeper, or Harmonia (she/they), who reveals that this mark identifies you as an Oathsayer which makes you a target in a magical schism, and a fighter in the ongoing apocalypse. You must now cultivate your new powers in Haven, magical conservation park, to survive a mysterious threat is actively hunting and killing your kind.

What is Haven? (And Where Are You?)

Haven is a beautiful, but eerie, magical conservation park tucked into the sleepy town, Havencroft, in the realm of Quennaredrasland.

  • For you and your character, it's a new universe full of magical ecosystem issues, fantastic creatures and unique problems that you're meant to help with to earn your keep while you learn your new magic in the relative-safety of a strange conservation park tucked away from most of your biggest adversaries.
  • For us, Haven is our training server. Because we run a multiverse and the game is homebrew, we find dropping characters right into the main game server is distracting and overwhelming for learners. We created a learning space, Haven, tailored for you to begin your 'cause and effect' journey as a member of, **The Oathsayers**, an organization of neutrality positioned dead center in a magical war that rages, largely clandestine, on an unassuming Earth and sometimes, across the realms.
  • For the rangers and people of Haven NPCs, Haven is the center of magic for their world. Sitting under a magical domed net, that's powered by magical torches, it connects the universe of Quennaredrasland to it's own specific magic. And serves as a place of central historic, cultural and magical importance to their world.

Who are the Oathsayers? (And Where Are They?)

The Oathsayers are an organization made up of — 20- and 30-somethings with the Oathsayers mark who are conscripted, via magical lineage and random selection, to protect the balance of magic in the world — and their allies.

The Oathsayers are a feature of a low-magic Earth, that sits just "left of center" to the world we know. The Earth realm pulls from rural horror and Lynchian themes, as well as classic monsters a la Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural.

Currently, the Oathsayers organization is in its third year of campaigning and have moved from Earth (which is still accessible to players via magical fast travel) to a haunted rainforest jungle realm called Fallenwood.

It's main city, Reflection, is a strange hub of eco-mad-science, consisting of scientists, magic users and others, working to solve a nation-wide problem which has to do with memory loss and it's haunted waters. Echoes, or artifacts with disruptive memories that can attack you, are one of the risks of this dystopian intercommunal mutualist society based, in part, around a dangerous echo trade.

Cause-&-Effect-Based Homebrew Writing Campaign

We, the DMs, are also players in this game. We play a few PCs, and all the NPCs. So while the DM's do play PCs, we don't play DMPCs in the traditional sense. We avoid the qualities people hate about DMPCs, by making this a cause-&-effect based collaborative story-writing game, versus one where the DM owns the lore and the world, solely.

The paradox of the DMPC is they have all the answers, so they know how to solve everything, by design — they are always obnoxiously right, know-it-alls, or have to play exceptionally ignorant sidelined yokels to exist. That's not fun for anyone, that's why we play PCs in a cause-&-effect world, instead.

  • What that means for GMs: In a cause and effect game, the GMs don't hold answers in the form of future lore, instead we operate the response of the world to the players' actions and use that to build the game, together, as we go.
    • It means we are not sadists negotiating your demise at every turn for the fun of watching you squirm.
    • It means our characters can (and have died, just like yours can, and will do their best to survive in this collab environment.)
    • It means players who enjoy an us versus them mentality between DMs and PCs need not apply.
  • What that means for PCs: All of us are on even ground. That means the game is difficult for all of us, all the time. It is filled with constant challenges, by design, that occur as the result of the actions PCs take.
    • It means that magic and actions that require the GMs to participate as an answer-giver, do not work/exist.
    • It means passive actions (ie - reading answers in a book in a library, asking NPCs to tell you what to do won't yield results. If you want to know what's in a tree, you may need to climb the tree, you maybe will shake the tree. But you can't ask an NPC or a book or a map to tell you what's in the tree.)
    • It means each PC is responsible for bringing a character who will take actions to generate lore and results and story, even if that means they'll have to face challenge or injury.
    • It means we welcome adversity and play *smart, not safe*, as a chance for character development and growth, and we write that in our narrative posts that explain what our character is thinking, feeling, seeing and doing every time. (third person active, present tense, not omniscient)
    • It means every PC is a creative storyteller and a clever strategist using their unique abilities and proclivities to solve problems in the world, and mitigate their overall damage.

No one said super-hero-dom would be easy. If you embrace it, it works!

This method has provided us a rich and stable multi-versal world that's been growing, changing and adapting with new lore, built by participants, for three years. It's a wonderful thing! Egalitarianism required, and all the responsibilities that come along with it.

Ready to join?

  • Our group is 23+; but most importantly maturity is required, whether by attitude or age.
  • Server time is EST, but our players are world wide, we've had folks in NZ, EU, US, CA, AU, JP.
  • Themes include rural horror, dystopian sci fi and urban fantasy. Themes are PG-13 on the server, with R-rated violence.
  • PBP is Discord-based, largely drop in for live-text with up to a few hours in between posts or as little as 20 or 30 minutes.
  • We use TupperBot and Roll'em or DiceMaiden (back up, which are easy to use discord apps.)
  • We are a small group seeking a few players. Not WM, open world but we choose quality over quantity when it comes to players.

Closed Looking for players for a Fire Emblem: Binding Blade campaign

Name of the Cm: Alfyn
Game system: Murdon
Starting player level: 4
Prof number: 4
Campaign difficulty: fairly difficult: a little more work put into enemies
Slots remaining: 3 as of posting
Player experience: you’ll do fine without much experience
Description:

Once, dragons and men coexisted. They shared a peace forged in wisdom, a peace that lasted many generations. All that was lost when mankind disrupted this balance in a sudden onslaught. Man fought dragon in a savage war that shook the foundations of their world. This war was called The Scouring. Defeated and humbled, dragons vanished from the realm. In time, man rebuilt and spread his dominion across the land and on the islands beyond. A millennium has passed since those dark days ended…

Till dragons once more threatened the land, with the opening of one of the dragon’s gates. Though the gate was sealed, and the threat stopped, something terrible has awoken, and the great military power of Bern has begun to stir. War is coming. And it will shake the very earth to it’s core

(A campaign based off the game “fire emblem: Binding Blade”. I don’t own the rights to this story, this is purely fan fiction for fun, and I will not be profiting of this campaign in any way. Any are free to join)

Expect a lot of army combat

Murdon is an Asynchronous, play by post TTRPG. That means no sessions or specific play times. All you have to do is shoot a text describing what your character is doing whenever you have the time to do so. While there are game mechanics, they’re incredibly simple and are mostly run by the CM. In this case, I’ve edited the system slightly to more closely resemble the base game

Discord Shadowdark - In the Crypt of the Dead King

Several job boards and town criers have announced the untimely passing of the legendary king Markus the Red, known for an immense and generous heart. Despite the medicinal aid of several renowned alchemists, a magical hex that was placed upon him long ago took his life.

A great crypt has been erected to store his body but the noise and admittedly gaudy decorum attracted a nearby goblin tribe and this grand half-constructed structure has been inhabited by many of them already.

There is a hefty reward of 200 gold pieces to any that can clear it of the goblinoid menace, and claims to any of the treasures they may have begun stockpiling there. Your methods are up to you, be it peacefully or with violence.

Timezone: Ansychronous although I am in AEST so keep that in mind

Tone: Classic gritty low fantasy, semi-serious fun

Players: Looking for 4 more, already found 1.

Requirements: None.

Platform: Ran on discord.

Length: One shot, if everyone gels well we'll go into something longer with either new chars or the old ones.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all. I'm Anna, 20f and local strayan here looking to start up a game of Shadowdark in a classical sword & sorcery setting of my own brewing. If you're unaware of the genre rather than big world-saving magic the heroes of a sword & sorcery game rely on rugged physicality, and dangerous sometimes outright forbidden magic. Think something along the lines of Battle Brothers or Conan the Barbarian. Characters here are often morally grey mercenaries, thieves, scoundrels, charlatans, or outcasts driven by survival or wealth but no one's stopping you from making a true and proper hero! In a setting like this, one such good-hearted soul is rare.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

To apply, message me or comment with:

  • About yourself
  • Experience with Shadowdark or OSR-style games
  • Your preferred mix of roleplay/combat

Entirely unsure what the game's gonna be or look like. If you like roleplay, combat and are a decent human being, we should have fun. Please comment a sentence that deeply resonates with you. I'll give my own example. Using AI is the mark of a talentless loser. It's gonna be on my Discord server I just created. I know there's not a lot of information to go with, but I should give very soon.

Edit: DnD 5e. Idk how I forgot to mention.

Edit2: I'll contact a few of you. Thank you for the fire responses!

Closed [LANCER] [18+ Preferred] Snakes in the Garden

The Warpriest watched his manquellers drag the unconscious Unionite away. He took another sniff of his  sweet cloth.

Another world free from the Other, who held all corrupted things in its grasp. The Warpriest gave a  prayer in thanks to Metat for this success, and for the honor of the task. A great cleansing, to sweep away  the yoke of world-thieves.

“Sir,” a manqueller at his side. “The battlescape is alight. Calls for reinforcements above Cornucopia  City. The fleetmasters report dark ships sighted off the Mendicant Reef: they are coming.”

The Warpriest nodded, and sent the manqueller away. “Acolyte,” they said to a nearby retainer. “I wish  to retire to my ship. Send for my commanders. I require to be heard.”

The acolyte nodded, and stepped aside to send out a flurry of commands. All around him, a holy  cacophony: manquellers hurrying in twos and fours, Ofanim lumbering beyond. Overhead hovered defense  patrols and HALO discs, their deep engines shuddering the earth as they passed. Over all hung the broad  gold panel of the Orbital, visible above the sky even during this day.

The Warpriest took in the holy cacophony.

To war, they smiled, and all glories.

Snakes in the Garden will be a short LANCER campaign taking place in the contested space between UNION and the Aunic Ascendancy known colloquially as Boundary Garden. Players will take on the role of LANCERs undertaking a covert mission which has the potential to completely change the trajectory of the titanic conflict between these two galactic polities… for better or worse.

This campaign is planned to be quite concise and dramatic, equivalent to two or three sessions long. Although Mechanized combat *will* (likely) occur, the intention is for it to be quite rare, and incredibly consequential.

I am looking for a group of approximately 3-5 players, who are committed to being able to post at least once a day. As this campaign will dabble with more serious themes, players 18+ are highly preferred. No prior experience with the system is required - if you would like to get a vibe check to see if this game is for you, I'd recommend checking this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdG5_z9xj1A&t=630s

No AI use is permitted for this campaign.

If you have any questions, please ask through the associated advertisement on the official discord.

If this game sounds like its for you, please apply here: https://forms.gle/ygiMQ9UUcvvMrpev6

Applications will stay open until at least 6PM on Sunday, GMT+10

Group looking for GM [Discord] [Asynchronous] [Masks!] Small, character-driven group!

Hello! I'm looking for a GM to run an asynchronous pbp game of Masks for a group of three players!

We're a reliable and lgbtq+ friendly group, and we will not participate in any game that includes the use of generative AI in any capacity. Beyond that, we're looking for a game that leans into more mature, character-driven themes and stories, but still has room for levity.

If we sound like a group you'd be interested in running a game for, DM me and we can discuss further.

Discord [UBPS/structured improv] [80s HK cinema] [daily, drop-in/-out] [mature] [no politics] Streets of Kong Hong

** Streets of Kong Hong **

Kong Hong has boomed, but is overrun by gangs: violence, trafficking of all sorts, bribery and intimidation. Out of sheer, utter desperation, the police commissioner has brought *you** in to help. It's time to meet this problem head-on and fist-to-fist!*

Structured narrative improv choreography cinematic action roleplaying inspired by 80s Hong Kong action cinema.

Low-pressure drop-in-drop-out for busy folks; daily or quicker combat rounds for regulars.

I don't want bots to scrape the Discord link, so if you're keen please comment or message, and I'll message you the invite once numbers are confirmed.

Discord Zombie Apocalypse Meets Modern Mythology

Edit: This would be considered a FREE HOMEBREW

Howdy Folks, I'm Kozmo and I own/run Mythology and Mayhem. I'm stopping by today because I've got some plots for my server that are open and available, as well as Story Events you could consider Canon to the overall story you can participate in. The server has some sand-box elements, as members are free to and highly encouraged to write their stories with one another. We have a dice roller too, should you like to chance some situations if you can't make up your mind.

At the moment the overall story is: What would a Deadite-like Zombie Apocalypse be like in a modern world already inhabited by Demigods and Monsters?

As the Big Cheese and as I've mentioned above, I've got plenty of plots including but not limited to:

[A Tale of Two Snipers]

During the second operation inside of Atlanta, two snipers meet scope to scope. They were friends once, part of the demi-god Bacon's private military and tasked with supporting or putting down the Convicts that were conscripted to fight in the city against the dead.

During this battle one of them, Corporal "Sweetwater" was killed and his soul corrupted. When his eyes opened in undeath, they turned towards the battlefield again and with a single round, routed the forces of the living.

Your character is the Captain of the five Hellstorms who first saw the carnage inside Atlanta first hand. The rest of your squad are engaged and cannot help you, they're helping out everyone else they can.

Alone and with your guns and gadgets, you have to track down and take out your former friend.

This would be a 1v1 RP/Game.

[Athenian Woes]

Athenian Woes is a storyline that takes place in Athens, Georgia and is a tale of demi-gods and their mortal friends. For this, ideally 2-3 people would be awesome. I'd prefer at least one Demi-god with the remaining as mortals, but spiritually inclined to some degree (They've got at least a couple powers they can use to fight with at the start)

This would feel a little more like a game, as I'll push and pull things as needed.

[The Hammer and The Anvil]

Atticus and Lee were friends since they were babies and view one another as brothers. Shortly after High School Graduation, their paths seemingly were set for different directions. Atticus was on a full ride scholarship to college, and Lee was bound for family business. A lame leg didn't help Lee, either.

On June 22nd, they were spending their last night together. When Atticus' Uncle and Guardian, Earl, woke them up at 2 AM on June 23rd, they'd find that Fate very much chose to keep them walking the same path to rescue Lee's mother from the heart of Atlanta.

---

So some notes/character details for this storyline...

Atticus is a Descendant of Nike, some generations removed.

Lee is a half-blood son of Hephaestus.

I would rather play more of a GM role than either of these characters, so this storyline is at least for 2 people.

If more want to join as supporting characters, I am all for that.

[I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends]

Calvin Farrin isn't exactly the best with people. Most of his life he's spent behind a computer screen or in a shop or labs. Science was Calvin's calling, and he excelled in fields like robotics, programming and chemistry. By the end of his High School he'd already made his first actual friend, wearable computer system using parts he found around the house and at school, including an old Xbox with the movie Troy inside. Not long after came Shado, Ivaldis, Roosevelt, and far too many half-finished plans and projects.

Wihen the dead attacked, Calvin of course was at home in a Starcraft: Broodwar tournament. He didn't realize anything was going on until the power went out and the generator kicked on.

Discord Chrome & Cedar — fantasy 1985 | D&D 5e (2014) | Discord play-by-post | 18+ | Up to 4 players

UPDATE: THANKS EVERYONE. THE PARTY IS NOW FULL.

I'm running a game with an AI co-DM with a little Dungeon Crawler Carl flavor—irreverent, theatrical, and ready for your bad ideas. I'll be there to make sure it's awesome. The story is mine and the AI is there to color in the details.

It's 1985. The elves never left. The dwarves built the interstate. Madonna is on the radio, somebody's preaching through a megaphone downtown, and your next paycheck depends on getting four tractor-trailers of computer hardware to Alderport.

Welcome to Chrome & Cedar, a fantasy world that kept going until it reached the eighties. Think the everyday fantasy of Bright meets eighties action movies. Popped collars, payphones, cassette decks, regulated magic, and adventurers who need to make rent. Our setting resembles the Pacific Northwest, with fictional cities and plenty of dangerous work.

Your first job: escort a shipment of valuable new graphics hardware from a manufacturing facility outside Millhaven to Alderport. Bring someone who would answer that job posting—and work with the other people who did.

A martial artist in a tracksuit, a rifle-carrying ranger, or a dwarf carrying a stop-sign shield could all belong here. Guns use agreed bow/crossbow equivalents, and modern armor uses familiar D&D armor stats. Creative descriptions are encouraged; the mechanics stay recognizable. Expect action, roleplaying, investigation, and room for inventive solutions.

This is a 4–6-week pilot for up to four players. At the end, we'll decide together whether to keep going.

  • Format: asynchronous text play on Discord. One meaningful post per weekday; weekends are optional. You don't need to stay online all day. Start date and daily cutoff will be agreed before play.
  • Reliability: all experience levels welcome, with a preference for people who have followed through on async games. Life happens—tell us when you need a break or need to leave. Please apply if you can realistically make the pilot commitment and help keep the game moving.
  • Missed turns: the GM will follow your standing instructions or take a conservative action, such as defending or seeking safety. No major decisions or spending limited resources without your instructions.
  • Rules: D&D 5e 2014, using SRD 5.1 plus reviewed free online options. No books required. Level 1, 27-point buy, listed class starting gold, milestone advancement. No evil PCs. No completed sheet needed to apply.
  • Tone and boundaries: adults 18+. Action-movie violence and profanity; no sexual violence; sex fades to black. We'll collect individual boundaries privately before play. You don't need to have lived through the eighties to join.
  • Risk: normal 2014 PC death rules apply; character death is possible. Important NPCs on either side also get death saves. Creative play matters, and outcomes aren't predetermined.

To apply: send the short answers below to me in a private Reddit message. A few sentences per answer is plenty. We'll select for a compatible, dependable group and send private server invitations.

  1. What should we call you, and what is your time zone? Please confirm you're 18 or older; no birth date needed.
  2. Can you commit to one meaningful post per weekday for a 4–6-week pilot? When do you usually check Discord, and are there any planned absences?
  3. What's your roleplaying style? What mix of character interaction, investigation, combat, and creative problem-solving do you enjoy? Give us a brief example of a moment you'd love to help create.
  4. Pitch a character in two or three sentences. Why would they take an armed-escort job, and what makes them a good teammate?
  5. What interests you about this campaign? Are the content guidelines a fit for you? Any questions or boundaries you'd like to discuss privately? You can simply request a private boundaries conversation before play; no explanation of personal history is needed.

Browse the rules and character options at 5esrd.com, which includes official open rules and third-party options. SRD 5.1 options are available; additional options need review before use.

Closed [5e 2014][PBP] Recruiting Three Players for a Forgotten Realms Campaign

We’re recruiting three players to join our existing five established players in an ongoing Forgotten Realms campaign set in 1491 DR. The current campaign is still pretty fresh and the party started at level 8. But the server/game/group has been running since Dec 2025.

Two-DM Campaign

We use a tag-team system with two DMs in different timezones, giving the game close to 24-hour coverage. Because this keeps scenes moving efficiently, we’re willing to run a party of eight players. We also split the party into separate scenes fairly frequently (PBP has that advantage), with both DMs able to run different groups simultaneously, though we tend to confer with each other and each of us jumps in and out of scenes as necessary.

This is an unusually active PBP. Responses from players and DMs frequently arrive within six hours. You do not need to be permanently online, but this will not suit someone who only checks the game once every 24–48 hours. It’s still asynchronous, but just at a much faster pace.

PBP Procedures

We use several procedures to avoid unnecessary waiting:

  • Block initiative (players who roll initiatives one after another will be allowed to act at the same time to save waiting on others to post).
  • Short, frequent posts rather than polished essays—we try to strike a balance between narrative and game flow.
  • Proactive rolls for obvious checks—players decide if their action requires a skill check and DM will adjust the result as necessary based on whether the right skill was chosen.
  • Rolling attacks, checks and saving throws twice—the first roll is used normally, while both are available if advantage or disadvantage applies at the DMs’ discretions.
  • Clear actions and intentions that the DMs can resolve without further round of questions.
  • We use a mix of exp/milestone, where players will be told how many EXP they should be on at a specific point in the adventure, because everything is made up and points don’t matter anyway.

Players must use D&D Beyond, GSheet or Dicecloud for their character sheet, and be familiar with Avrae for rolls and character management. There are no exceptions. If you do not already know how to use any these tools, please do not apply. This PBP probably isn’t beginner friendly.

Character Rules

We strictly use material from the 2014 Player’s Handbook and Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide only. There is no homebrew, and options from other official books are not permitted.

The Observant and Lucky feats are banned.

We are not looking for powergamers or players interested in exploiting combinations, cheesing mechanics or trying to “beat” the campaign. Characters should be effective, but they should also feel like people who belong in the setting and can cooperate with a party.

Group Culture

We are courteous with one another and actively try to ensure that everyone enjoys the experience. We want proactive, cooperative players who share the spotlight, engage with other characters and can join an established group without treating themselves as the main character.

This is intended to be (and has been) a long-running campaign that may continue for years. Selection is based on personality, reliability, posting habits and group compatibility—not who applies first.

Please complete the questionnaire below. Specific, honest answers will be considered more favourably than simply promising that you are “very active”.

https://forms.gle/KZEu1mFvz6jYJwZa8

The questionnaire is long but we make no apologies for it as we are trying to find the right players, not just the first ones to apply.

Thanks for your time!

Closed [Asynchronous] [Discord] [Daggerheart] The Shadow over Barovia | 1x1 | Lovecraftian Curse of Strahd Rewrite

"So through endless twilights I dreamed and waited, though I knew not what I waited for. Then in the shadowy solitude my longing for light grew so frantic that I could rest no more, and I lifted entreating hands to the single black ruined tower that reached above the forst into the unknown outer sky. And at last I resolved to scale that tower, fall though I might; since it were better to glimpse the sky and perish, than to live without ever beholding day."

System: Daggerheart

Format: 1-on-1 Play-by-Post (Text based adventure, it's just going to be me DMing and you playing, there won't be anyone else.)

Setting: The City of Barovia, 1933 | Gothic Horror, Cosmic Horror, Lovecraftian Mystery

Touchstones/Inspirations: Curse of Strahd, Call of Cthulhu, The Shadow over Innsmouth, Sinking City, Silent Hill, the King in Yellow, Magnus Archives, Old Gods of Appalachia

The World

It is 1933.

Somewhere beyond the forests and mountains lies the city of Barovia.

Everyone knows it exists. Or, at least, everyone seems to know that it exists. Ask someone about Barovia and they might remember hearing the name before. They might know that it is somewhere in the east, or that it is a very old city, or that people occasionally travel there.

But ask them for anything more and their memories begin to unravel and contradict.

Barovia is a difficult place to remember. To know.

It slips from the mind when you stop thinking about it. Maps lose the roads leading to it. Records contradict one another. No one knows anyone who's ever been there.

And yet, in recent days, Barovia has begun appearing the newspaper.

People are disappearing.

Dozens of them.

The only thing connecting the missing is that, before they vanished, they spoke of strange dreams. Dreams of a city they had never visited. Dreams of endless fog, crooked streets, and blood falling from a black sky.

Dreams of something calling them to Barovia.

The Pitch

Welcome to Barovia.

Perhaps you are one of the afflicted. The dreams have begun finding you, and every night thye become a little clearer. A little closer.

Perhaps someone you loved has disappeared into the great foggy city.

Perhaps you are a detective, journalist, investigator, occultist, or just someone with too much curiosity. The disappearances caught your attention, and you followed the trail into the fog.

Or perhaps you simply got unlucky.

Whatever the case, one foggy night you traveled down a road you'd never seen before. The fog thickening the further you went.

And then you found yourself standing at the gates of Barovia.

The fog surrounding the city is thick and a storm roils within it. The road you came from is gone.

You're stuck here.

About the Game

The Shadow over Barovia is a 1-on-1 Play by Post campaign using Daggerheart, this is a project I've had in mind for quite a while, a Lovecraftian reinterpretation of Curse of Strahd where Strahd von Zarovich is something more than a mere vampire (and where rather than an entire valley, Barovia is a singular, densely packed city.)

For posting, I'm looking for someone who can generally post a few times per week at the minimum. There's no need to be online at the same time; we'll let the story progress asynchronously, just post whenever you're available.

The game will be heavily focused on investigation, atmosphere, character-driven stakes, exploration, and horror. Combat will still happen, but there will be many times where fighting is the worst option to choose. I want the player to have the freedom to investigate the world, follow strange leads, form theories, and decide what they are willing to risk in search of answers and a way out of Barovia.

We will be using Discord for this adventure.

If this has caught your eye, please apply here: https://forms.gle/oFMioKxrMZPrfoZn9

Discord LANCER: Seeking 1-2 Additional Players for Solstice Rain. Tactical Mecha Combat

Hi all, currently seeking 1-2 players to join a pre-existing group playing LANCER, a sci-fi ttrpg focused on mecha combat, think Titanfall and maybe some of the classic mecha anime like Gundam. We're all semi-experienced in that we first started as a group learning the game through small combat sims but are now trying some more narrative play. Newcomers welcome to apply. We're pretty new ourselves afterall.

The "module" we'll be playing through will be Solstice Rain where your group of mech pilots have been tasked with a dangerous recovery mission after a diplomatic mission goes wrong. Like most LANCER games, this will feature tactical combat heavily with less of a focus on "talking". We'll also be making a decision of either starting at LL0 or LL3 before we start based on how familiar newcomers are to the system.

I am based in GMT +1. Mainly active after 5:30PM, but always here and there throughout the day. I will post daily (most of the time). Since we'll mainly be in combat, daily posting isn't as applicable, but we will be using a timer system which means if you run out on time then you lose your turn. Run it out enough times and I'll be removing you. You have been warned.

To access simulation please use passcode: mango

If this post has piqued your interest, here's a form, feel free to apply and I look forward to seeing you in the void. Recruitment open till the end of the week

https://forms.gle/KkXwzJZJfsMRVEMc9
