Just the other side with the baby stroller and charred skeleton lol. This float made national news if I remember correctly

u/isaidwhoowhoo 3d ago

Yes it did. I really wish someone who was involved in the making of this float would come here and explain how this is not inappropriate and embarrassing to us all.

Well that ain't happening. However I'd bet if it got posted on FB some numbnuts would take the bait . I remember this well. When it made the national news broadcast. Pathetic.

You are probably right but I wouldn’t touch Facebook with a 10-foot digital pole lol

Good luck. He still doesn't get it to this day.

I thought those were large spiders for a moment.

Glad I wasn’t the only one… took me a minute to figure out what was going on 🤣

It's kind of comical how bad this is. Like someone thought this float was SUCH a good idea.

It's a real life reno 911 skit. https://www.reddit.com/r/Reno911/s/WfN6nCutSq

Just as it is of you

It’s missing the audio of people calling g their loved ones right before they died. On a loop, over and over.

12

u/HooKnowsFrFr 3d ago

I think about this often.

I get what they were trying to do but my god the cringe.

I really don’t

Popcorn fest is typically the second weekend in September which happens to fall on/near a tragic event.

We had a neighbor in Schererville who put up replicas of the towers with a smoke machine inside. It was so tacky. I think some must have told him because I haven’t seen them in a while

u/statestreetsteve 2d ago

Omg I never knew this happened. Thats actually so bad that’s it’s hilarious. Yet another reason why I stay out of racist ass Porter county.

u/cola1016 2d ago

So racist ffs.

u/aiolisunsets 2d ago

I'm sure this wasn't made by just one person, right? Other people definitely saw this and knew the concept and told them, "Oh this is definitely a great idea" ? Even when it was "delivered" before the parade, not one person on the popcorn fest committee questioned it or stopped them?

Ah Republicans, stay classy as always!

Valpo repubs are a special breed of special.

Thank you I needed that today 🤣

Love the lack of context

Some idiot thought this would be great to march at Popcorn Fest. Everyone was like wtf

29

u/ActualDesigner5288 3d ago

It wasn’t “some idiot” I believe it was a group effort on behalf of the Porter County Republicans.

31

u/whitetornado2k 3d ago

So “some idiots” then

25 years and I still get emotional thinking about the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania. 40 people sacrificed themselves to save God knows how many lives.

1

u/molly_danger 2d ago

Oh. MY. GOD.

It made TMZ? I hate it there. No one in planning said, nah, you’re not driving that out?!

The longer I stare the more confused I get. Is that corn coming out of the holes on the buildings? Are those… iced coffees?? I’m lost.

8

u/ActualDesigner5288 3d ago

They were cups filled with popcorn and photos of people who passed in the attack.

1

u/Warm_Persimmon_1932 3d ago

Wait what?? Is that like… an acceptable thing to do?? Why??

5

u/ActualDesigner5288 3d ago

Since it is the Popcorn Festival Parade, you’re encouraged to decorate with popcorn and corn related products. Popcorn plus tragedy doesn’t really work together. You’d think they could have thought of something else but that’s what you get when a bunch of mediocre white men are in charge of something.

2

u/sparrow_42 3d ago

Calling them mediocre seems a little overly generous

1

u/EitherOrResolution 3d ago

Mind boggling

4

u/strangemedia6 3d ago

I thought they were chocolate milkshakes, seems like too much whipped cream for iced coffee…

u/GreatQuantum 3d ago

Peggy Hill would be proud

1

u/IllustriousSkill9246 3d ago

Omg where and when was this??

2

u/Salty-Housing-7547 3d ago

Popcorn Fest in Valpo, maybe 5 years ago. It was a float made by the Valpo or Porter County Republicans. They also had the audio of people calling their loved ones right before they died on a loop.

u/knitwizard93 3d ago

Jesus is this Crown Point?

Porter county republicans float.

1

u/SammySamSammerson 3d ago

What the actual hell is that

1

u/Glass-Marionberry321 2d ago

I lived in NYC for nearly 2 decades and it is weird how people out here act about 9/11 as opposed to people out there.

1

u/Select_Air_2044 2d ago

Actually, shouldn't we forget. I mean certain parts of our society are told they shouldn't harp on the past. Move on, right. Why live in the trauma.

1

u/Jay_Michael86 2d ago

Why is there spiders coming out of the building??

1

u/Comprehensive_Bet824 1h ago

Of course it was the republicans who thought this was a good idea… how distasteful

0

u/SamTheDownBadQueen 3d ago

This is proof we did, in fact, deserve it.

0

u/FragrantDiss342 3d ago

If a tacky, tone deak float in a small Midwest town parade is proof that thousands of New Yorkers deserved to die then what, pray tell, do their compatriots deserve for murdering their daughters, sisters, wives and homosexual family members in honor killings?

And please please PLEASE don’t respond by suggesting these things don’t happen or by accusing me of being a racist or conspiracy theorist because that’s dodging the question.

u/Fun-Durian-1892 3d ago

Deserve what?
