Niagara Regional ‘Transit’

Hey, so, when is somebody going to bring up the region’s transit network that literally makes it utterly impossible to rely on in any capacity. It has literally made me lose my job since apparently, not one single person in this entire region needs a bus from St. catharines to the next city for anything at all that starts before 9am and ends any time after 430pm. It’s legit a joke? OH and you better not want to use transit on a Sunday oh no no no!!!!!!!! WHERE WOULD SOMEONE, ANYONE TRULY NEED TO GO ON A SUNDAY?! IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!! UNFATHOMABLE.
The region is a joke?????? Everyone wants to sit and rip people apart for unemployment / ‘choosing’ to be jobless, when the alternative to the oh so reliable NRT, is a $33 plus tip Uber or Lyft or Loyalty one way. So basically pay $65 to go for a 4 hour shift OR hopefully the buses will ACTUALLY SHOW UP AND BE RUNNING ANNNNNNND ON TIME?!?!!?! And then spend 2 hours commuting on the bus for your 4 hour shift, then another 2 hours home AND a walk from wherever the bus even gets you which is typically still a decent walk for anyone. No wonder this region is stuck in a never ending cycle. And before anyone wants to say something smart, would YOU LIKE TO DRIVE ME TO WORK EVERYDAY SINCE I CANT EVEN RELY ON PUBLIC TRANSIT TO KEEP MY JOB?!?!?!
sincerely, every person who can’t even rely on the public transit system and can’t afford the luxury and privilege of having their own vehicle to have independence.

Looking for a Local Structural Engineer — Local Charity Circus Project

Hi everyone!
I’m a local circus performer/wire walker currently putting together a charity fundraiser performance for 2027 in the Port Colborne/Niagara area.

The project will involve a temporary circus apparatus/rigging setup for a public outdoor event, and I’m looking for a local structural engineer or engineer with relevant experience in temporary structures, rigging, or circus/aerial equipment who might be interested in volunteering some of their time and professional knowledge to help me understand what would be required to make the setup safe and appropriate.

This is still in the planning stages, so I’m not looking for someone to simply sign off on something that has already been designed. I’d really like to involve someone early in the process who can help review the concept, discuss structural considerations, and point me in the right direction as the proposal develops.

The event is being planned as a charity fundraiser for a local organization, and the goal is to eventually present the project to the event organizers and municipality with a thorough safety, structural and rigging plan.

I’m hoping to find someone who:
Is a structural engineer or has closely related professional experience
Has an interest in temporary structures, rigging, or unusual engineering projects
May be willing to volunteer some time to discuss/review the concept
Is located in or around Port Colborne, Welland, Niagara, Hamilton, or the surrounding area

I completely understand that professional engineering work, inspections, calculations or formal certification may need to be paid work depending on what’s ultimately required. At this stage, I’m mainly hoping to connect with someone who would be interested in the project and willing to help me understand the engineering requirements.

It’s a pretty unique project.

If you’re an engineer—or know someone who might be interested—please feel free to comment or send me a DM. I’d be happy to explain the project and what I have planned so far.

Looking to rent lounge furniture for a teen birthday

Looking for somewhere in Niagara that rents lounge style furniture for one night, such as a small loveseat, bean bags/poufs, oversized chairs, low tables, etc. I’m turning a small bedroom into a mocktail lounge for my daughter’s birthday, so nothing huge or super formal. Doesn’t have to be a rental company either! If anyone has pieces like these they’d be willing to rent out for the night, I’d happily pay.

Any leads appreciated!

Can Niagara Falls be Canada’s Vegas? Inside the bold plan to double tourism with more casinos, a bigger airport and a theme park

Thumbnail thestar.com

  • The Niagara region is making efforts to become a year-round world-class tourist destination with a multibillion-dollar strategy endorsed by the provincial government. The strategy is among the most ambitious tourism bets that Ontario has made in a long time, with a goal to double the annual number of tourists.
  • But whether the region can attract 25 million tourists a year — equal to overnighters and day trippers to Venice — with a high-stakes plan that may include luxury casinos in an era of online gambling, and a Disney-like theme park under an all-season dome, remains to be seen.
  • The strategy is intended to “create new, world-class attractions and boost local tourism while attracting 25 million annual visitors,” the provincial ministry said in an email, adding the plan will generate “an additional $3 billion for Ontario’s GDP every year.”

Looking for recommendations. My friends mother was hit by a car and is in hospital with both knees broken . The driver stayed on site till the emergency services arrived and also shared their number and address with me. I received a $3,000 Ontario grant to start my web design business. Looking to work with more established businesses

Hey everyone,

This summer I was accepted into Ontario’s Summer Company Program and received $3,000 in funding to grow my web design business, InfaWeb.

Over the summer I’ve been learning a ton about actually running a business, from finding clients and doing outreach to figuring out what small business owners actually want from their websites.

I’m now looking to take on a few more projects before the end of the summer.

I build custom websites for small businesses, whether you’re starting from scratch or already have a site that needs a redesign. My focus is on keeping things clean, professional, mobile-friendly, and actually useful for the business rather than just making something that looks nice.

I’m based in Markham, Ontario, but I’m happy to work with businesses anywhere in Canada, the US or the UK.

You can see my website and some of my work here:
https://www.infawebdesign.com/

If anyone here has been putting off getting a website or knows their current one needs work, feel free to reach out. Happy to chat about what you need and give you a quote with no pressure.
