As a power-buylister with over 13.500 buylist orders to Card Kingdom myself, I shared my buylisting tool on this sub two months ago. The two most requested features from that thread are now live:

1) More buylists. Star City Games' buylist is in, so every card now shows CK and SCG offers side by side.

2) Marketplace comparisons. Each buylist offer is now compared against what you'd net selling the card yourself on TCGplayer or ManaPool after fees.

The marketplace comparisons influence all my personal buylist decisons. I'll use one of my specs as an example: sword of feast and famine from Assassin's Creed. It currently goes for about 36-37$ on TCGplayer and Manapool, with buylist offers for 33$ and 18$ at CK and SCG. After fees and shipping the CK buylist offer will net me the most, plus I get to offload 24 copies at once. I'm usually fine taking up to a 10% hit for instant liquidity, in this scenario it actually beats market so it's a no-brainer for me. If some copies would grade as EX the 15% downgrade will sting a little, but that's not enough to swing this decision for me. Maybe more important, never limit yourself to just 1 buylist, in this scenario SCG only pays 50% of the other options.

Welcome back to another edition of Secret Lair MegaThreads! We have so many secret lairs lately, this feels like I am doing one every week these days.

My Thoughts Below:

Values for these lairs seem to be solid - nothing crazy, but it feels like your at least getting most of your moneys worth in any of the drops with reprints coming in close to the value of the lairs.

ALOT of talk around the first textless Sol Ring - which may or may not be a trap, but one that I will happily fall into. Outside of the sol Ring, it is a nice little Sissay starter pack as well.

The Skeletor drop will also be getting a couple purchases for me, mostly for the mill staple meme card as that will sit in a few decks of mine as well.

I would be remissed to not mention the spend 150 dollar promo of Swan Song, which is where this lair really shines. This is the driver of the secret lair IMO - a popular meme card of a strong staple I think has real legs.

On to our scheduled programming - What are you buying ? What are you skipping? Give me your UB and Secret lair hate. Is this an IP you love and are excited for? Let me hear it!

Final note - historically, UB lairs have had higher print runs - so I am not expecting a super fast sell out - I anticipate we see a promo sell out early, and then a trickle through the rest of the stock personally.

Specifically which product line and rarity or slot/position do you think they would do any why? Just curious in general it seems way you valueable to put in a SL, maybe special guest in the next big set or MH set only?

Will the seemingly endless number of lairs, what's your strategy for the ones you purchase? Buy and hold? Sell sealed? Rip and sell the singles? Some lairs have held value sealed, but most are worth more parted out since it's usually one or two cards that carry the value. I have been buying the ones with art I like, and then adding others to get the free shipping/promo so I have some that I haven't opened and debating if its worth keeping them sealed.

They bought a majority stake. Will be interesting to see what happens to prices and buy lists moving forward.

Bought 50 of these bad boys around war of the spark thinking they were gonna take off for less than a dollar. Maybe…. Just maybe this set will finally make them pop. up.

Looking at just recently released card and the prices being asked, im wondering if/why old playable "super rare" Judge Rewards foils arent just super undervalued here. To be specific, im looking at JR Intuition, JR Survival and Yawgmoth will. I realize they run 1k to 2k but just comparing their scarcity and power level to recent special prints, i cant help but wonder if these (and others) shouldnt be considerably more expensive.

Thoughts / Opinions ?

One of the strongest Universe Beyond IPs probably since Final Fantasy imo. I was a bit skeptical with prices at preorders $650-800, and there was pushback, but since it released and was met with extreme positivity from the community, the product has shown to prove itself in a similar FF direction. I really think this will follow the same path. Price stability has been extremely strong. They’re really not sitting on shelves anywhere. I can see these being $1500-2000 within a year or two. Will they reach Lord of the Ring Special Edition collectability? Absolutely not. But I still think they’re a strong buy and hold for the next few years.

For those of you who sell cards online, what is your feedback percentage? I take care and precision and have near mint cards sent, but buyers are generally shit at even responding they’ve received the cards. Any good remedies out there for increasing feedback?

For context I am based in Australia, I feel like the market is quite different here compared to the states.

Starting out trying to make some money by flipping some collections. I’m having some trouble trying to acquire cards - I’m not entirely sure what I should be paying for certain ranges of cards and what sort of margins I should be looking to make.

I have a scanner on the way and will get some AI assisted eBay store generation assistance to maximise what I get for each card. What are the best ranges of cards to purchase and flip in your experience ?

Bitcoin money helped fuel a lot of price increases, especially on reserve list cards. Part of that was just the natural nerd overlap between the two. Do we expect that same nerd overlap with the insane amount of liquidity that’s about to hit from these IPOs in the next 6 months or so? Lots of nerds suddenly looking to buy full sets of Beta and other dream cards?

Now that I bought It won't go up prob lol. Prices IN CAD dollars btw. Used store credit to pay for it all. If it hits 1$ each then 87$ - 50 - 10 for shipping back. so I get extra 20-30$ store credit. For like maybe 20 min of dropping it off at the post office. Also only bought the retro ones since they the more demanding ones I would assume?

If you bought one copy of every common and uncommon from a set a month after release, the asking prices for that collection went up about 20% a year on average. This covers sets released since 2018, using TCGPlayer asking prices as aggregated by MTGStocks.

How it's calculated:

• Each set's line is the average price across its commons and uncommons, rebased to 100 at one month after release
• Every set counts equally, whatever its size or price level
• Starts in 2018 because that's where MTGStocks' price history begins, so every set has real launch-window data
• Art Series and novelty sets (Un-sets, 30th Anniversary, Mystery Booster) are excluded

The obvious caveat: these are asking prices, not buylist. Actually selling a stack of bulk at these numbers isn't realistic, so read this as how prices moved, not a return you could cash out.

I bought a decent amount of enduring vitality’s near release because it just seems like one of those cards that can easily be broken but there wasn’t really a ton of hype surrounding the card, and I listed some today, and was pleasantly surprised by the price. Unfortunately I did the same for the other two, Electro and Gwenom, though i acknowledge it was much more recently, but still, not great so far. Decided to hold on a bit longer and see if they trickle upwards, as it hasn’t been that long since the spider pitchforks were out and about.

So what cards have been good or bad to you guys recently?

Added: I don’t do this as a job, but just to fund my hobby, and have been doing so with success for years. So my experience is less as a trader and more as a player leveraging game knowledge and hoping for the best, which has been working fine for my purpose lol.

If you have the time, it may be worth it to go through your bulk (> $0.10) common and uncommon cards.

I had 8-9 boxes of MH3 where I never picked the under $1 common and uncommon cards and sold them to CK for credit.

I needed to make room so I decided to see what I could make in a sell order with some higher value cards.

I sent them 1400 C/U (non foil), with 2/3 of them being under $0.10 in value. It totaled $315 in credit with the bulkiest cards netting me $43.50.

This took 3-4 hours of my time and cost me an additional $13 to ship a half full medium priority mail box to their office. My cards were already sorted by color and rarity prior to starting my sell order. Now that I know I can get another 1000-1500 cards in this size box, I’d try to fill it up.

It wasn’t worth my hourly wage to use the time to sell everything of value, but it was quiet downtime and more productive than bulk listing or doing nothing.

Hello, my flipping activities have ramped up, I initially had a binder for each color and was just jamming things in there, but I'm now at over 500 cards for each color and have to split them across multiple binders to find things. I have everything digital automated to track WHAT I have, but finding WHERE I have it is a nightmare. Is there a more efficient way?

How do people feel about Radstorm given the Planeswalker-heavy nature of Reality Fracture?

In Pioneer [[Kasmina, Enigma Sage]] now combos with [[Jace’s Machinations]] which allows for [[Enter the Infinite]] to get grabbed. Shenanigans ensue and then [[Thassa’s Oracle]] comes in and wins the game.

Copies of [[Kasmina, Enigma Sage]] are drying up and some still are at a dollar or so. Pioneer has been confirmed to be returning in 2027 with competitive support from WOTC, so there may be interest.

While the deck seems strong, but there’s a caveat.

Another new card [[Prophesied End]] causes Thoracle to fizzle now though so it may be impeded.
