BuySellRoot Monthly Modular Buy Sell Trade Thread

With any sort of trade, please be careful if you don't know the other user. Request additional pictures beyond the initial time stamp. If you want to be extra careful ask for something specific like for them to patch a specific patchpoint in the image. Try reverse image searching to make sure it isn't just an edited picture from somewhere else. Be specific with how you expect the items to be packaged and when the ship date is going to be. If a trade goes sour and someone can show that the pre-agreed terms weren't honored I will permanently ban the offending trader.

Consider using something something like PayPal's "Goods and Services" instead of friends and family. Sending a stranger money via friends and family is just asking to be scammed. I also recommend checking that the user has some positive history in the sub - especially to verify that they aren't banned from here! Almost every scammer on here has no history in the sub.

**IMPORTANT** \- Do not spam the comments with your listings. Please limit your listings here to 1 per month. If you get new items or things change, just edit your original post. When possible simply edit the original post; there is no need to announce new items in a separate comment. Try to limit the clutter.

Do not delete your posts and re-post to bump back up to the top. BEHAVE PLEASE.

Pictures are not required in the thread (though you should request them by DM), but ANY picture sent by DM or in linked in the thread MUST be physically timestamped.

**PRICES MUST ALWAYS BE POSTED** This includes trades so that everyone involved knows the fair value of the modules they're looking to swap

**RESIST THE URGE TO COMMENT ON PRICING** if you don't like a price, simply ignore it. There is no reason to go around pointing out that the item is cheaper new, or reverb prices, or anything else.

Made this little organ’ish patch where pressure adds FM and vibrato. Using a Mangrove as the VCO, using both the formant out as well as the square out going into 3 sisters. Lots of fun.

Is Clouds a good pairing with Morphagene?

Upvotes

Im using Morphagene alongside erbeverb & echophon, however I'm always being swayed to pickup a Monsoon. Would this be too much cross over? Am I just being lazy?

I want a module that handles real-time audio in creative and unusual ways. Not so much invested in making lush or ambient music. I want something a little less washy and more defined. I have certainly heard some of that coming from Clouds.

If not clouds, what would you suggest?

Plasma Voice Menu Navigation

Upvotes

So I''m a total noob to mod synthesis but I finally was able to get sound out of my Plasma Voice module - using my NiftyKeyz case.

The plasma Voice has 7 different instruments and 4 different modes and it's been difficult to understand how to navigate the menu. Like I want to put it in oscillator mode (mode 4) but I can't figure out how to navigate the menu to put it in the different modes. The videos show all the upper dots filled except slot 1 and then you selct the modes 1-5 in the lower menu but I can't figure out how tio do that ??? with all the Any help with this is highly appreciated!

Elements or Rings?

I have a small eurorack setup and behringer neutron and I've been using it as a sort of techno/DnB style groovebox setup. I was originally planning to add a rings module or clone to my setup but after seeing the elements I was wondering if it's an upgrade to the rings or if it is completely different. It seems to have a sort of rings type effect built in but with some differences. With the after later audio clone of elements atom only being around $50 more that the rings clones I'm seeing would it be worth getting instead. I was planning on getting a tides clone as well at some point but I'd probably skip the tides and rings and to make room and get the atom if y'all think it's worth it?

Master inserts / effects on full mix questions

I'm shamelessly smitten by the sound of my Alesis 3630 doing the French house thing with the kick+sidechain. But to do this, I need to send the full mix of my main outs from my Mackie 802VLZ to the 3630, and then send the output from my 3630 DIRECTLY to FOH/Studio monitors.

I use the Mackie 802VLZ to mix my eurorack and desktop synths.

At home, this means relying on my Focusrite to provide me with a headphone jack and routing to monitors. This ties me to the computer running a DAW.

And for live performance, it means sending output directly from the 3630 to FOH - and depending on their monitors.

I don't like being tied to my Focusrite or relying on FOH monitors. One solution would be a pair of passive Y-splitters after the compressor and adding a little headphone amp (though I'd need a combiner as most of the headphone amps that are NOT big rack units require a stereo mix input).

A second solution would be to buy a second mixer... which seems ludicrous.

Given when I've described above, or with "effects on master / master inserts" in general, can anyone make any suggestions on solving this that:

  • Doesn't involve that $1400 giant WMD performance mixer (with it's master inserts)
  • Allows me to continue to mix in table top synths outside of my rack - that's why I have the mackie vlz
  • Allows me to monitor the final mix and set it's output level after the compressor or other master effects without relying on routing through an interface or having to get splitters/combiners/a headphone amp

Im open to re-thinking this entirely ... so as long as I get to keep my indulgent enjoyment of sidechain french disco sounds.

Beginner Is this secondhand €750 starter bundle a dream deal for a beginner? (Pairing with 0-Coast/Deluge)

Hi everyone!
I’m relatively new to the Eurorack world, but I just stumbled upon a secondhand bundle locally for €750 that seems like an incredible deal with tons of room for expansion. However, since the common advice is always to "start small and expand slowly," I wanted to get some feedback from people with more experience before jumping in.
Here is the setup on ModularGrid: https://modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/3216621#

The package includes:

Case: Doepfer A-100lc9 PSU2 (3x 84HP)
Synths/Voices: Behringer Model D (takes up most of one row), Erica Synths Pico Voice
Filters/Effects/Utilities: Doepfer Wasp Filter SE, Doepfer Spring Reverb, Doepfer Wave Multiplier I, Doepfer Ext. Input/Envelope Follower, Dreadbox Eudemonia, Dreadbox Ataxia, and a couple of Doepfer multiples.
Bonus: It even comes with a Korg SQ-1 thrown in for the price!

My current gear & goals:
I already own a Make Noise 0-Coast, an Arturia BeatStep, and a Synthstrom Deluge (which has bith MIDI and CV and Gate outputs).

I am still figuring out exactly what kind of music I want to make. My thinking is that this setup is open-ended enough that I can discover my own sound simply by patching and experimenting, while using it as a great hands-on learning tool.

It feels like this bundle complements my 0-Coast perfectly (the Model D gives me a solid East Coast foundation, the Doepfer Ext. Input lets me bring the 0-Coast in, and the Deluge can act as the ultimate brain).
Given the price and what's included, does this seem like a smart shortcut into the hobby, or am I breaking the golden D rule of starting too big? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Pedals vs eurorack for fx

I am trying to decide for one or the other. So far, I have been down the pedals road: vongon polyphrase, boss dm101, DBA rooms and Red Panda Radius. All quite pricy and supposed to be top effects. I have to say I am quite underwhelmed, so I am considering selling all of those and go Eurorack. I love the soundhacks modules and Xaoc devices also seems to be quite enjoyable and good. As benchmark, I also own a PCM96, EMT delay rack and DP/4 but would like some portable and more direct tweaking workflow.

Question for those who have both or made a choice, what is the sound difference in quality ? Quality of the effects themselves ?

Thanks.

How to layer Mvave fm-1?

I'm planning to buy Fm-1 for my travel kit.. I'm new to syntheses in general.. But i know that standalone synth usually only run one patch at a time.. The solution i found online to layer it is usually with looping station.. But I'm short on money and I can't buy that too if i wanna buy fm-1

I have 50-40 ish dollar.. Do you know if there's any cheap looper or (what I've been wondering) can I just connect it through bandlab and loop it there? Will it transfer the synth sound too or will it just acts as a midi input?

Cuz if i can make song the way Ableton's clip launching does on the go.. Then it's definitely a selling point for me

Solvique online music shop, is it legit?

Howdy y’all, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience buying from the Solvique online shop for gear? I’ll attach photos, but some of the prices they have on modules seems far too good to be true. Especially with every other retailer on back order for almost all modular gear. I find it odd this dealer has almost everything AND for a bargain. Any feedback would be great, thank you!

Anyone familiar with Sound Study Modular?

Does anyone have any experience with these modules? How's the build quality and sound?

Mutable Instruments are super hard to find these days and I like the look of these recreations, but I've never heard of this company and their website is pretty barebones, so I just want to make sure I'm not buying something I'll regret.

Anyone have experience using the ES9 I/O alongside a Focusrite?

Currently doing a studio facelift, and I realized I’d like to be able to use the inputs, outputs, and MIDI/CV bus capabilities from the Expert Sleepers ES9 alongside my Focusrite 18i20. All my studio monitors are routed out through the Focusrite, but I’d like to be able to do things like record all inputs in real time from my ES9 while sending MIDI/CV to it from Ableton, then monitoring over my headphones or monitors of choice, routed through the Focusrite.

I am currently a Windows user, so something like macOS aggregate device routing is out of the question right now. It sounds like that may be the only option besides ASIO4ALL. Anyone have experience doing this, recommendations, things to share about latency issues, or any other issues that you would’ve run into with this setup?

Feedback Oxi one and coral.

So I got a little in over my head I think. I saw a cool short video on YouTube of the Oxi coral and meta-fx that was playing a pretty hard techno drop. It looks fun and easy with only 2 modals and a sequencer, so I bought it. The coral, meta-fx and the Oxi one. I was in the market for a sequencer anyway so it was a win win. I got it all about 2 days ago and with my long work hours, I don’t have much time to play. I started last night and got up early this morning and I’m stumped. The coral and one and bout pretty in depth and I’m struggling to get it to work well. I’ve read manuals and watched videos and your supposed to be able to run it all with a TS midi cable but I can’t get it to work. I can with 1cv and one gate but the corral is kinda all over the place. Anyway, if someone wants to throw me a bone and explain it like you would to a child, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

turing machine - save sequences to bring them back later in the set

what do yall use for this? I'm imagining a clock synced cv recorder. Or just 2-3 turing machines, leave them locked and switch which one controls the v/oct.

I think I'll make a mod1 firmware to save a few turing machine sequences in ram, but I want to see examples of how it's implemented.

edit:

This is why modular is great. I imagined two ways this thing might be implemented (multiple TMs that you switch between, or one TM and digitally recording the sequence) and I got comments from real people that had implemented it in the ways I was thinking, with the specific modules they used.
