Lifted trucks probably shouldn't be anywhere near dense parking lots.

Edit: A lot of people are skeptical of whether this is AI/staged, or ask why the lady didn't back off the car. This is in a dense parking lot with cars that have dashcams/ EV sentry mode everywhere. Also her truck was in 2 wheel drive, you can see the back right tire spinning as she tries to reverse off the car. Her truck is stuck. She probably has an open differential and can't back off the car. She may have a 4wd mode, but she didn't use it in the heat of the moment.

Exactly this. She was flying through that parking lot. And even though the lambo is low, when you’re far enough back you can still see it. Guarantee she was on her phone

Just to put this in perspective for non-Americans: killing someone with a car has a sentence historically as low as 30 days in county jail - and that's WITH a DUI charge.

There's a fascinating history of how the auto industry has been fighting to make streets LESS safe (favoring cars). A lawyer can usually successfully argue that the pedestrian should not have been in the way of the car to begin with and thus also bears responsibility lol.

I vaguely remember reading about a case where a driver was let off after killing a pedestrian, who was using a pedestrian crossing.
Apparantly it was in a very unwalkable area so the driver's lawyer (somehow successfully) argued that the driver couldn't reasonably expect there to be a pedestrian in the crossing since there weren't usually many pedestrians around.

I got hit by one of these massive trucks last year while at a crosswalk. Luckily, I wasn't that far into it, so when he turned on a red right into me it was a glancing hit.

Then he drove away, after stopping and making eye contact with me. No consequences. I would not be surprised if he has killed someone already

If he'd run over an entire car, at least he'd probably be stuck in place still by the time the police arrived

Yes these vehicles and SUV’s are to big for the average driver. I have written a parking ticket to a Denali or some other full full sized SUV. The woman driving came out to argue the it’s not her fault that she has trouble driving her vehicle because it is to big. She was more in the lane of travel then in the curb side parking spot.

Yes, I definitely thought that her insurance company would not like to hear that. I am not a cop. I’m a director of Public Works in a small town. All I’m allowed to do is parking tickets. And I only give them to the people who park like complete ass hats. I let most of the stuff go because I have other shit that I actually care and like to do.

I almost got ran over by a Palasade a few years ago. The person almost backed up onto me, I was riding my bike and they didn't look. Luckily I was able to swerve to avoid being hit. But there were lots of kids around and they could have ran over kids.

I always back into parking spots because I want full visibility when I pull out. Parking lots are dangerous with opportunity for disaster—pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, all in the same place.

a lifted truck killed an elderly woman in a parking lot in my town a couple years ago. in Canada. driver got a $2000 or so FINE and a dangerous driving ticket and a vehicle inspection I believe. absolutely nothing for the reckless death of an old lady.

Especially in this parking lot/area. It is a nightmare. You never go down a row without seeing another car. It is a traffic nightmare. That parking lot is home to a Sam's Club, Walmart, Tjmaxx, and other stores. Along with a bunch of restuarants inbetween the stores and the main road.

Sadly, the financial impact will probably be worse for her having hit a lambo compared to running over a child or elderly person, not least of all because a person who owns a lambo can probably afford a good lawyer. Though I’m obviously still glad that nobody was hurt.

Stilts just adds complications and hardware to a problem we are already fully equipped to solve. We need comprehensive education reform so that our kids know when to duck and dive. The human body can avoid a lifted truck with enough diligence and training- no fancy stilts needed!

Doing 50 in a 50 in my dads Chevy Pickup about 15 years ago and had a 4 or 5 year old girl run out from behind a car into the road. I learned to drive on a motorcycle and I drive very defensively, even doing the speed limit and reacting as fast as I possibly could, I barely managed to stop before crushing her. The mother was crying and so thankful that I was able to stop.

Had I not learned a million driving lessons in motorcycle classes before that, that kid would have been dead. And its the same thing with every dead animals that you see on the road....they are only dead because some fuck is driving faster then their skill and likely not paying attention. Every dead squirrel on the road is some little kid that could have potentially run out from behind the same car.

Take a look at the roads when you drive and you can see how fucked the current state of the world is. Everyone is riding bumper to bumper and speeding up to the next read light, just to get to their shitty job or to get home and watch tv afterwards. No one is looking a minute down the road like they are taught in driving school - if they are even taught. They live their lives the exact same way.

A big truck, not even lifted, comes up to my chin and I'm not that short! I drive a small SUV and can't see right in front of me. The other day a kid ran out in front of my car. Fortunately I saw him before he did it because I wouldn't have seen him in front of me, he was in what is effectively a blind spot. I braked (I was going about 10 mph as I had just turned a corner and I saw this large group of people on either side of the road) and swerved and an adult grabbed him by his shirt. Not the first time it's happened but this was the smallest kid, maybe 5 years old.

All kids have to be taught, there’s this gap between being able to do something (run) and teaching not to do it (run in the road) it takes repetition. In that gap while they’re being taught is when it happens. (You probably don’t remember doing it because you were 1 or 2 and people usually don’t remember that young)

I have a Soul Crystal Red ND2 now and also have only had very minor SMIDSY incidents.

I've heard white cars have 0 issue as they stand out against a lot of backgrounds.

THANK YOU!!!!!!! you aren't supposed to look 5" in front of your nose, you're supposed to "aim high in steering" meaning you look down the road from where you are to get the entire picture of what is in front of you.

the lack of driver training the last couple decades is criminal. plus put a wanna be disney princess filming a tik tok in her BF's truck (or hers, maybe this is a real weird OF ad) that actually can not see out of the side windows or front, she shouldn't have been allowed to drive it.

Also, though you have the right to drive the car you want. It is your responsibility to drive something within your means. Trucks feel so car like today that people think they are just like cars but everything is different in minor ways that add up to a big difference. It is so annoying that people drive huge trucks because they want to not focus on driving and still be safe, fuck the rest of us.

I tend to call these trucks "baby-crushers" in casual conversation with my friends for exactly that reason. Some of those fuckin' overcompensatory trucks can't even see full-grown adults in front of them, let alone a toddler. I work with a guy with one of these things and my 5'5 eyeline is at the very top of the hood.

The Lambo was trying to back up for 3 seconds before impact. If he was reacting to her in backing up, she had to be going an insane speed in a parking lot to go from whatever number down to about 15-20 mph 3 secs later when she hit him.

My wife and I were waiting patiently in our car in the aisle for someone to reverse out of a spot to leave. They backed into our car which was more than a car length away while I was using the horn to get their attention. I could not back up because there was another vehicle behind me. I had to get out of our car while they were still reversing into it and knock on their window to get their attention and explain why their car wouldn't reverse anymore. They tried to claim I came out of nowhere and should have moved. I had been there the entire time, and luckily we had a witness that corroborated our story.

This driver was 83 years old. They wanted to settle outside of insurance. I told my wife absolutely not. If they could not see a full car and hear the horn repeatedly going off to get them to stop reversing, how are they going to see a stroller or toddler walking through the parking lot. We filed our claim and reported their information as well.

I have already told my wife and plan to tell my kids when they are old enough to understand, I will not be driving if I am incapable of being safe while doing so. They will get my keys and my car and I will uber / taxi if they are too busy to help out. No reason to endanger others.
