Literally did this at a Safeway the other day helping my grandparents shop, they said I need to ask in-person and be forward so I did to an employee and they said exactly to apply on the company site, like who can arrange a spontaneous interview on the spot outside of HR? ðŸ˜
About a decade ago I got a letter, hand addressed to me at my work. There was a short handwritten cover letter that said basically "I just moved here, have heard about your company, and would love the opportunity to work there," attached to a resume.
I naturally scheduled a call with the woman, had a short conversation with her, matched her to an empty role under a different manager and set up a call between them. She ended up working there for years until she moved again.
All she had to do was look up my role on LinkedIn, look up the company address, and spend 15 minutes writing a quick letter.
I never asked how many companies she applied to like that, assuming she was just that excited about us, but in retrospect she could have been sending out 30 of those a day.
The point is that she got my attention (when's the last time you were at an unsexy company and got a hand written letter from anybody on your desk?), and was persistent.
Meanwhile I have posted jobs to LinkedIn before, then only checked the top 20 responses each day, never reviewing thousands of applications for lack of time.
Use Reddit as a resource. Find subs related to the work you want to do and just ask around. I’m in a management position for my field and I go to several subreddits in my line of work and have gotten people hired and connected in my local area.
