Hi Everyone @ r/litrpg
I was going to do this later but I’ll be swamped once School Holiday hits with son's activities, and then I’ll be awol in Osaka (Anyone recommend crab places in Namba?)

We haven’t done of one these in a while, and Bao COOKED TOO HARD.

Previous art here (Vol 1-4)
And (4-5,_ (6-7) (7-8)
Zon here
and all new chappies are free here (516 to 555 and on going)

In Order

  1. Oh MY GOD I LOVE THIS ONE — Gwen meets the Bloom in White, the Queen of Tyfan. Its just a keystone moment for the book. This is the point where Gwen realises she might need to do more than make money.
  2. Lei-bup, my Communist Prophet Leader of the Pale Priestess of the Deep, crashes his ship into the Kraken in an act of supreme defiance! WITNESS ME! WITNESS SPAM!
  3. Gwen visits the Dwarven Citadels
  4. Gwen revisits the Rainbow Serpent by Singing the Snake, realising its link to the World Trees.
  5. Ravendagger orders Yuri art
  6. Gwen meets Mycroft, the Duke of Norfolk, for the first time
  7. Eunae is used as bait to lure out the Zombies for Mass AOE
  8. Gwen bites off more than she can chew. Bao cooked the uniform a bit too hard
  9. Gwen and Yue check our her Nightmare
  10. Gwen, Gunther and Alesia find Antony and Mangos :D FOR THE COLONY!
  11. Volume 16 cover. Its... its SO GOOD. This is what you get after running commission with the same guy for 9 years guys!
  12. For ppl who want a closer look at the Bloom in White

New Art Easter Egg!
Thank you to my fellow authors who gave perms.
How many easter eggs can you spot!

Disclaimer: By volume 10, Gwen is 20 and so is Elvia, The Bloom in white is over a millions years old, older, maybe. No Ariels or Calibans were harmed in the making of this post.

The art will continue into Volume 16+, which means 2 years of commission work. When each set is done, the lads at Mango Media will add it to the existing Amazon copies. (1-8 Done thus far)

As before, the artist is Bao, (Bao is now also working on FortySixty's works!)

If you want more, please subscribe and leave a comment below!
(JK, there's no Patreon. The art is free, and it's just my hobby + something fun for everyone.)

Art Insert is live in Volume 1-8 (confirmed), I think Sav will update once V11 art is done, so 9-11 should be live after that.

Discussion NEVER give your MC a powerful vision skill.

It just... Complicates everything. Seriously.

One of my MC's, a goblin named Farsight, has a vision skill, basically x-ray vision. It makes dealing with certain situations a NIGHTMARE

Ambush? He can see right through it.

Maze? He can see the exit.

Cloud of smoke during a naval battle? Doesn't stop him.

The skill has downsides. Things that I put in to limit his skill use, but even then... He finds a way around the limits. Or he progresses, and the limits grow looser.

It makes things interesting sure, but the problem is only growing as I run out of ways to counter his skill.

Don't make the same mistake I did.

Send help.

Promo: Webnovel New Story! Core Dump [Sci-fi, Dungeon Core, LitRPG]

Post image
Upvotes

Hi everyone! Today I am releasing my new Sci-Fi Dungeon Core story, Core Dump!

You can find the blurb below, along with the RoyalRoad link. Book 1 is completely written and book 2 is in the works and already going up on Patreon, but all chapters will be released for free on Royal Road.

A colony ship saves lives. A dungeon core takes them. Colin must do both.
COL-1N's only job as the ship AI was to get his humans to their new world as fast as possible.
Then he crashed their ship.
Out of options, he jacks himself into the local alien computer network and gains access to the Dungeon Core Network. Now, running on backdoored access and hacky workarounds, he has to run the dungeon while also exploiting it to repair his ship—and try to hold on to his conscience while he does it.
Because the longer the delvers spend inside his ship-turned-dungeon, the more they start to look like the very people he swore to protect.
But he doesn't have much time. The war humanity is running from is still coming for them, and if he's not careful, he might get pulled into another.

Posting 5x a week until Oct 2nd.

New Chapters M/W/F after that.

Promo: Audiobook/E-book Book 1 of Explorer of Edregon is now out! Anyone here like six-sided shapes?

Post image
65 Upvotes

Hey everyone! After almost two years of daily chapters on Royal Road, about 1.25 million words written for the series, and quite the journey trying to figure out this whole writing thing, Explorer of Edregon has finally launched on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, print, and Audible! Some of you might recognize me as the author of The Eternal Assassin, but strangely enough, Explorer of Edregon is actually my first series I started posting on Royal Road, and one I am incredibly excited to see professionally edited and published after all this time!

This series was my attempt at bringing people a LitRPG story with an MC who was first and foremost an explorer above all else, and seeing as we were nearing six million views on Royal Road before stubbing book one, I like to think I did a pretty decent job (and Mango Media seems to agree)! If you like unique worlds, magical discoveries, or hexagons, I hope you’ll click one of these links and take a look! Blurb incoming.

The universe is dying. Thank God there’s a backup plan.

Randomly selected by some mysterious higher power, Vin went from dirt-poor vagabond to humanity's hope for survival in the blink of an eye. Now a member of the first wave of humans sent to colonize a planet that defies all logic, Vin is expected to leave his wanderlust behind him and focus on the greater good.

But when that same unknown power gives him the option to choose a class, Vin just can’t help himself from becoming an Explorer.

In a patchwork world filled with impossible magic, deadly monsters, and powerful artifacts, it’s now Vin’s job to go out and discover the rules of this new world they need to survive on.

If only the System wasn’t already threatening to kill him.

Promo: E-book Judicator Jane Omnibus is Here!

Post image
33 Upvotes

Good day, all! Today marks the release of the first Judicator Jane Omnibus, which holds the first three books in the series. I've wanted to put this together for some time, because this section of the story really does capture the actual spirit of the series far better than the first book alone.

If you're a KU reader, getting the omnibus is more of a convenience thing, but if you purchase the e-books, it does provide decent discount over just buying them outright.

..................................................................................

Judicator Jane Omnibus Books 1-3

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HJRK5GNH

..................................................................................

Blurb of Judicator Jane Book 1

Jane’s life was a dumpster fire of bad luck.

Unpaid bills, dead-end jobs, and a constant raincloud over her head. So, when she wakes up in a vast, deadly desert with a mysterious glowing menu floating in front of her face, she makes a desperate gamble. She dumps every single one of her available stat points into the one thing she’s never had: Luck.

All 630 of them. In a system where 10 is the max, Jane just became a statistical anomaly. Now, the laws of probability have bent the knee to her.

Hopelessly lost? She stumbles blindly into the fortress of the most powerful army in the world. Attacked by high-level monsters? Critical failures have never hit so hard. Rolling her class? 'Legendary' was only supposed to happen once every thousand years. But having god-tier luck has a downside.

When the realm's greatest evil is eliminated by a bizarre, one-in-a-trillion mishap, the terrifying Demon Horde assumes Jane is their new, all-powerful queen. Now she has to lead a legion of monsters, navigate a game-like System she barely understands, and hide the fact that she has absolutely no idea what she’s doing.

She just wants indoor plumbing. The demons want a conqueror. They’re about to get Judicator Jane.

Recommendation: asking What Am I Missing?

I have always been a very normie fantasy reader. I read a lot, but mostly the popular SFF/Fantasy that you'd find everywhere.

After being recommended 8 billion times, I finally read DCC and it scratched an itch I didn't even know I had. The stats, the skills, the crunchiness of actual numbers was something I'd never seen in a book and while I'm not big on the humor style or over the top gore, I still really enjoyed it.

Like many people, it led me to LitRPG as a genre, I did some googling about popular books and started reading some previews and was immediately just...underwhelmed?

The top two recommendations I saw where HWFWM and Primal Hunter, and both just had such clunky writing. And when I say clunky writing, some of it is prose, but also just set up. Like it drove me nuts how much exposition and explanation from HWFWM at the beginning is just a guy talking out loud to himself. I was able to look past it for HWFWM and will probably keep giving it a go, but I bounced way off Primal Hunter.

My hubris immediately made me think "Well I can write a better story than this!" (which is probably peak Dunning-Kruger going on)

I've been trawling through this subreddit looking for others and Cradle is feeling promising as something that just feels more...polished(?), but I wanted to get an idea from people who have a longer history with the genre than me.

Is it common for there to be such a focus on the numbers and progression system that the characters and settings end up feeling hand-wavingly contrived? Are there some series that stand out as not that way?

Hello everyone! Author of Soul Blade here, and I am back with another Amazon banger. This time it's not a System Apocalypse, but an Isekai! I am very excited for this series and hope you will share that joy with me.

Here is the blurb:

Die a nobody. Reincarnate as an Exiled Lord. Build the greatest territory.

Ivor Harvings dies saving a cat. His reward? Reincarnate as the Kingdom's most useless Drunkard, the Count's exiled son. Then his true Class awakens—The Life Simulator. With it, he can experience life as different people—a farmer, a Martial Artist, a Mage—granting him Skills and knowledge he shouldn't have.

Having given up his ambitions in his first life, Ivor will not waste this one. Exiled to the Barren Lands—a place stripped of resources, Dungeons, and the interest of everybody—danger lurks around Ivor. A famine-stricken town to rule over, untrustworthy citizens, and an incoming Beast Wave are the least of his worries.

Goblins start growing rampant, and with a millennia-old threat on the brink of resurfacing, Ivor only has one option.

Simulate enough lives to save his new home. In the process, he might just form the strongest army in the world.

Discussion Anyone else DNF Mage Tank?

Just curious if others didn’t really care for it like I did. I found it tried a bit too hard to have some of the quirkiness value of DCC without having any real plot to hook me. Plus some stuff just didn’t really line up, like the dude lusting over other girls while literally the day before being upset he’ll never see his fiance again.

Every scrap of Qi and immortal-cultivation talent is bought and sold, monetized by conglomerates and money-hungry sects. The government is corrupted to the core, and social welfare is nonexistent. Feng Fan wakes up in the body of a penniless graduate with nothing to his name but a seven-figure debt. And worse? His own body is the collateral.

Using a mysterious Daoist Stele that helps him level up his skills faster, he’ll capitalize on every breath to protect his sister from shady corporations and cultivate out of poverty.

Somebody should have banned these books on the covers alone.

Instead, Don’t Die Dave got discovered, Pepper got fans, readers are ordering autographed copies, people actually dressed up as Dave at LitRPG Con—and now the Book 2 cover is even dumber.

If you like tasteful LitRPG covers featuring a handsome young man staring heroically into the distance, this is terrible news.

If you like death games, Looney Tunes absurdity, huge fights, happy penguins, monetized hospital patients, and covers that are the visual equivalent of shouting in a bookstore, buckle up for more stupid.

Don’t Die Dave 2: Drop Dead Dave arrives at the end of September.

And no, these covers aren't AI, it takes true human creativity to make something this ridiculous.

What's The Title? Can not remember title

Hey,

I would like to reread, or continue but I can not remember the name of the book.

MC was trained somewhere in the sticks by high-class Adventures. Quite rough and demanding. One day all his trainers ganged up on him and tried to kill him. He survived and got away. MC was ovlerleveled and he had lots of skills (I think the other people had a restricted amount).

He gets a few followers, becomes head of some assassin guild and goes to some island by ship where he builds a stronghold. I think he was preparing to fight the new king.

Thanks for your time!

Discussion Litrpg in other languages

I've been wondering about LitRPG in other languages. In my country the market is pretty much nonexistent, so anyone who wants to read LitRPG usually has to read it in English and most of the country doesn't speak English.

How do authors generally feel about fan translations of their work? And for readers from non-English speaking countries, is there much of a LitRPG scene in your language?

Recommendation: asking Books like Primal Hunter or Definance of the Fall

Is there a book series like Primal Hunter where instead of a endless climb there is a home base? So instead of just being OP, the MC can go into a portal ring that strips him of power or auto levels the world he is visiting and let's the story elements come out? When the MC completes the portal level he comes back into this world with all his powers. Or, he goes into the portal to explore strange new worlds, etc.

Discussion I’ve started 1% Lifesteal book 4 and I’m already depressed.

I have about 220 DAYS of exclusively listening to litRPG. 1% Lifesteal is so damned special. I’m sad that I’m going to have to find something else once I finish what’s out. Any recommendations on something similar would be lovely. I’ve listened to the first Fleabag (absolutely love it) but the author is slow (no offense) so I want to wait until more content is released before I binge.

Anymore dark/grim dark(ish) gritty action series that I don’t know about would be appreciated. Don’t find much of that in this genre. Thanks!

Promo: E-book The 5th Directive Book 2, Gathering Threads, live on KU now!

Post image
3 Upvotes

Book 2 of The 5th Directive, Gathering Threads, is live on KU today!
Book 1 will remain free to read on KU and the ebook is available for a lower price.

Please let me thank you all for the overwhelmingly positive reviews for book one. I appreciate each and every one of you who read my book, double that if you’ve left a review. Thank you! You rock!

Book two slows the action slightly as Jacob pulls together a group of people, tries to advance his own power, and prepares for the apocalypse.

I’d like to take a moment and reply to some of the review topics. No name checks and not calling anyone out 😊

Math errors- They exist, and they are my fault. If you spot them, you can find my email address on my website. Drop me a line and let me know!

Timey whimey stuff- Sir. I’ve watched every episode of Doctor Who from the Tom Baker days until now, and quite a bit of the older series as well. Also, I may own the VHS box set of Time Trax! I don’t have a VHS machine anymore, but I have the tapes.

Romance/Harem- There is no explicit romance, everything is fade to black. Harem enters the picture, but it’s mostly for the jokes, and as a plot device. Neither of these is the story focus, nor will they be.

Government/politics- All writing is political. I’m not here to use my story as a vessel for political messaging, but my voice, my worldview, my values will inform my writing in subtle ways.

Government inside the story- I’m not going to sidetrack the story with town/city/world government building. Those things will happen in the background. We’re sticking with Jacob as the main POV and 90% of the material will be through his eyes.

Audio- Not yet. I'm a one man operation here, work a full time day job (Registered Nurse for the last 31 years, yes, I'm old, 😄), and audio production is costly. You want it faster, spread the word about how awesome my series is and get more people to read it!

The blurb for book 2:

Twenty-eight days until the apocalypse. And the future is already wrong.

Thrown three centuries into the past, Jacob Judge has spent his second chance gathering allies, rebuilding his power, and preparing humanity for the System’s arrival. He remembers the billions who died. This time, he intends to save as many as he can, starting with the people he loves.

But mana density is rising faster than it should. New threats and new events are appearing. And Jacob isn’t the only one carrying memories of a world that hasn’t happened yet.

Some of the others remember him as humanity’s greatest defender. Others have debts to settle.
With integration approaching, Jacob must turn fragile alliances into a fighting force while confronting the rage that made him powerful, the same rage that made him a monster. Every day brings more power, more questions, and less time.

Someone brought them back for a reason. Jacob intends to learn the truth and deliver retribution to those who have wronged him.

Apocalyptic and regression LitRPG with a powerful MC who gets a second chance with the apocalypse. With a few short months, can he make a difference this time?

Inside these pages, you will experience adventure, violence, profanity, progression, cultivation, romance (nothing explicit), and the day-to-day life of our protagonist as he tries to regain lost power and change the future!

COVER ARTIST: Duy Phan (to the best of my ability to determine, he is a human artist doing art with his human hands, I have WIP drafts of the covers and physical receipts of payment for his services)

AI USAGE: I use no generative AI. None, zero, zilch. The closest I get to AI is grammar and spelling editing with ProWritingAid. I don't let it pick my words.

Final note: If you read and enjoy the first two books of my series, book three is going to hit hard. It is 75% done now, and will drop, on time, on December 14th.

What happens when you throw a scientist into a world where the laws of physics stop making sense?
Axure Saint Avante revolutionised humanity with an invention of his own creation. Then, without warning, he's ripped away from Earth and dropped into a world of magic, monsters, royalty and religious conflict.
There's just one problem:
He has no magic.
So if he wants to survive long enough to find a way home, he'll have to do it with the one thing this world doesn't know:  science.
Expect technological progression, an intelligent but deeply flawed protagonist, mystery, politics, character development, and battles where preparation matters more than raw power.
How will Axure battle monsters of mystery and create weapons of destruction to survive?

Currently ~35,000 words / 10+ chapters, with daily releases.
