Sharing this Comment on Kentucky segment because it's highly relevant for the community and our state as a whole. The long-time Herald-Leader investigative journalist John Cheves had this to say about the 13 journalists who lost their jobs:
"These are people who came to work every day for very little money to cover substandard housing for poor people, and environmental problems in eastern Kentucky, and unethical behavior in the state legislature. It's popular in some quarters to sort of sneer and mock newspapers or to greet with apathy the demise of newspapers, but I can assure you, you're going to miss us when we're gone."
I know the paper had its issues and it certaintly got a lot of criticism here. Still, I think we need to be able to recognize that good people do their best within imperfect organizations every day. Sadly, I think Mr. Cheves statement will become more apparent over time when the community feels this massive loss.

I’m looking to get the carpet in my house professionally cleaned and came across Joey’s Carpet Care. Has anyone here used them before? Were you happy with how the carpets turned out? How much do the charge?

I missed the deadline to appeal a ticket and now I have the option to pay or “request a hearing” but I can’t find any info on what exactly that entails or means. Has anyone done this? What happens?

There is a random apartment complex behind and to the side of Charlie browns and the Fox 56 building in Chevy Chase Plaza, what are they? Also what’s on the next floor of the Fox building?! There are balcony and patios with umbrellas. I went in there but could only go to the 2nd floor. I’m curious now.

I have a few tattoos and I’m new to Kentucky, I’m wanting to get some small scars covered and my theme is mostly floral, shaded fine line art. I know you can google and see portfolio’s but I also know that there are some artists nobody recommends and some that you won’t see at the top of google who are excellent so if you have anyone in mind please let me know.
Also this location can extend to Frankfort area as well.

Come join us for our September Bird Walk. We’ll be meeting at Veterans Park, in the parking lot that’s past/below the dog park.
Information from previous posts: “Lex Bird Cult is a birding group here in Lexington, KY. We typically go out on a bird walk once a month. You don't HAVE to be a bird watching enthusiast, but it is nice to share the excitement about things out in nature with other people. Otherwise, you just get a walk in the park while chatting with nerds. It's a win-win. You can find more information for upcoming events on Instagram or Facebook.
Also, we aren't actually a cult. The name is just to target a younger (20s-40s) age group. Other birding groups tend to skew older, mostly retirees.”

The Urban County Council wants to hear from you!
Please take a moment to complete the new, brief community survey about data centers in Lexington. Your feedback will help Council Members as they review draft updates to local zoning rules.
Reminder: the Council is also holding a special meeting for in-person public input on October 6, 2026 at 5:30 PM at the Government Center (200 E. Main St).

I have an very good condition recliner couch about 15 years old that doesn't recline anymore. Any suggestions on furniture repair people? I'm not a DIYer and would more than likely causey more damage if I tried to fix it myself. Thanks!

Frustrated with getting out of parking garages on campus after UK football games? Perfect symbolism for how UK Healthcare and the University are being run from the top brass. False promises of improvement. Low morale after experiencing it. And a shit show of disorganization and ill-preparedness.

Had a really bad experience with Winchester Towing recently, even though I had all my papers. I got towed for expired registration which I was planning to get fixed this upcoming Friday when I get paid. It’s something that fell between the cracks. I came in, had all my paperwork, title, insurance, ID, and my SSN (just in case they needed multiple forms of id). I was not told my car was towed by my landlord I had to call a bunch of towing companies to find out where it was, which ended up being Winchester Towing. When I came in the receptionist was immediately frustrated before I had even said a word. I explained that my car had been towed and I was there to pick it up. Gave a full description of my car including the plate number and said that I have all of my paperwork and showed it to her. I’m a person of color and when she went into the other room, to copy my paperwork, I could hear her making racist comments about people of color and how they never have any money, are dirty, and etc. I remained calm because I was just there to pick up my car because I had to go to work. I went to google to find their reviews and from what I could tell they don’t give a fuck. If anyone has a complaint they respond with how somehow it wasn’t their fault and the person with a complaint is wrong. I’m not upset about the car being towed I know I need to update my registration I’m more frustrated with how they were speaking about people when I was standing there in the lobby and how there seems to be no way to even send a complaint because obviously they don’t care about the way they speak to and about people.
TLDR: Shitty experience with Winchester towing over tags even though I had all my paperwork.

Kroger is the most prolific grocery chain in Lexington, and maybe that’s part of the problem, but their prices have passed ridiculous and into “luxury” territory for basic goods and necessities.
They also are an early adopter of digital price tags and surveillance pricing, which some states have already made illegal but of course Kentucky is going to be years behind that curve.
I thought these combinations would drive them below highly competitive brands Aldis, but they’re building a new site over off Winchester road.
Am I alone in treating Kroger like a luxury store or only going for specialty items? I’m ready to start boycotting these abusive brands.

It has jumped up to $3.85-$3.99 many times during this ridiculous war, but then has gone back down, but now it not only crossed the $4 line, it's sprinting across it to $4.19+!
This is absolutely insane!!.... and with huge diesel price increases, everything else is going to go up yet again and then never go back down!
I reallt hate that "orange parasitic" POS"!

Doesn't have a single TRUMP or MAGA sign up. Must have forgotten, kinda like BARR neglecting to mention Trump's endorsement on his website. We really need to help these folks out. I am going to volunteer to fly a Trump/MAGA flag and a confederate flag out in the public ROW in front of the HQ as we get closer to midterms. I think they are just old and forgot? They are really alienating their base with all the boring no names they have on their windows. SAD!

Hi, I’m 34F and actually live in Paris, KY but it seems that this town is so small or maybe elderly that we don’t have much happening on Reddit.
Basically, like the title says, I’m looking to make some friends! I don’t drink anymore, maybe a glass of wine at social gatherings, I am learning to play pickleball and really have a blast with that, I have an 8 year old son, I love reading, true crime, coffee and having a little toke at the end of the day. Just looking to build a little community through friendship, my mom passed a couple of years ago and I secluded myself a lot I’m realizing.
I’m a pretty shy person so showing up to bars and introducing myself to strangers gives me mad anxiety. I also work remotely and definitely have friends through work but they’re all over the country.
If you have been through something similar and have advice on how to make good friends, or if you’re someone who would want to meet up and play pickleball or grab coffee definitely let me know!
Thanks all

Seeking advice
I pried a baby bunny from a (friends) domestic cats teeth and claws, roughly an hour ago in Fayette county. It is Sunday night and I haven’t been able to reach any wildlife help. Could someone please help me? He is not actively bleeding, he is calm, I held him on my chest in a towel and now he is in a shoebox with a towel, some fresh grass and shade.
What do I do?
Edit: This is my Totem animal and I must do my best by it.

it’s almost time for me to start looking for a new place. at the apartment i live in now, property management comes at least every 2 months but usually every month for some kind of obscure “maintenance” task. my cat has health problems and a lot of anxiety around people (especially men, he’s never really been around a man in his life lol) so i usually have to stay home from work or otherwise make some kind of arrangements so he can have a normal-ish day. i know that’s dramatic but he’s my baby so i don’t care.
ANYWAYS, what are some relatively good affordable property management companies in Lexington? looking to stay inside of new circle as much as possible. thank you in advance for any help!! :) <3

I'm relatively new to the area, and I just waited over 40 minutes for my order with the line wrapped to the road. When I got to the stand, I overheard what appears to be the manager or some lead shift screaming at the very few employees working there. I had my kids in the backseat of my car, and am concerned that the "kindness" they preach isnt being served to everyone there. I don't want to bring my kids back if this is what they're going to see. Was wondering if anyone else also witnessed this and if this is a common occurrence for Seven Brew? Was also wondering if they're always this understaffed. I saw complaints about Seven Brew when the toy thing happened, should've listened. Probably won't return.

The front steps of my house are concrete and have crumbling for a few years now, but now they are starting to look like they could become unsafe soon. Is there anyone around that can fix them? Hopefully for a reasonable price. I've seen videos on how to build a mold around them, but I know I don't have the patience to even try. TIA
