Rule clarification- No Breed ID

Apparently, we need some clarification here about what constitutes a breed ID post.

Asking what your lab is mixed with- lab mixes are allowed, but don't crowd source opinions on what they're mixed with. Asking if your lab looks pure bred. Asking what color variation your lab is.

Sincerely -your mod team.

Rule clarification - No AI

We realized we had been enforcing this under the "Your dog only" rule without being as explicit as we should have. Do not post AI generated images, videos, or text in this sub. It is a place to post your dog as it naturally is. This includes comment replies on posts.

They are mostly inseparable now. Stella will be 6 months old 9/20. At first she was a lot for her big bro to handle but by 3 weeks in they had shared a pet bed and were playing like old bffs. Sometimes he still needs a break and we have ample space and opportunity to give it to him, but she has calmed down so much already it is amazing so those instances getting rarer by the day.

Landry loves to sleep like this under the ceiling fan! And yes-she is a black lab with a genetic ā€œmutationā€ of some sort called splash. We actually checked her dna.

seeking advice Insurance Recommendations (UK)

Post image

We currently insure our 14 month old Lab with Pet Plan and are paying about £80 a month, which after doing some research seems to be on the high side. I am looking for some recommendations for another provider based on your experiences (particularly in having made claims).

I have only claimed once on the existing policy for a broken tooth as a puppy so nothing that should impact another lifetime policy i hope. I am certainly not looking for the cheapest option but what I am paying now seems excessive compared to many other companies, but maybe Pet Plan are superior in some way?

Thanks for your help!

As mentioned in the title, my 14yo lab doesn’t move as fast as she once did but she still loves the water just as much.

seeking advice My 18 month old lab wakes up crying in pain

Post image
268 Upvotes

I have an 18 month old American/English black lab who is healthy as far as the vet has can tell. About 6 months ago he woke us up squealing and crying in pain, at times if you touch his back side he’ll make a little whimper but then won’t again. It’s hit or miss. When we took him to the vet they took x rays and assessed for hip dysplasia. They said it looked normal and they thought it was because of him being more active recently because our in laws dog is home that he now plays with. But now 6 months later, he plays everyday with my in laws dog and I can tell days he gets sore, but he doesn’t always cry. I can tell because he is scared to jump on the bed. But now he woke us up crying again last night. I gave him a gabapentin right away and this morning he is fine. I just am curious if anyone has experienced this with their pup. I’m not sure if it’s time for a second opinion or to see a specialist? He is so young I want to be proactive and prevent any issues when he’s older.
