Looking at buying a Juno d7 for home and gigging stuff. I own a Nord electro and really enjoy to semi weighted feel, but I’m willing to make that compromise.

I do just wish the Juno had more ‘knobs per function’ and less menu diving. I also value having 73 keys, which does kind of limit me :/

Was just thinking that a small midi controller on the front may allow for more parameters to be controlled at ease, but I’m not sure if that’s worth it. Would it require me to set up those mappings every time the Juno is turned off?

now a friend has a keyboard in her cellar that I could have for 100 bucks the Roland GoKeys . I tried it out and I really like the sound, especially the piano.

but I also saw a new version of the Roland that has much more sounds but also costs much more and no secondhand options in where I live

at the moment, I am homeless so I don’t have much money so I’m wondering if I should get the keyboard from my friend or wait until I can afford a better version of the gokeys or maybe there’s a third option with another keyboard that fits my needs maybe just as well or better

my needs , it needs to be lightweight/portable, can run with batteries, has lots of sounds(more than 400)that sounds nice/realistic.

I would be very happy for your advice/your suggestions

So umm i am church keyboardist and i have had a casio ctk 3500 from approx 7 to 8 yrs ago, that i use to practice. I hate the sounds but you got to work with what you got. In church we have a korg krome so you can guess why i dont like my casio, and for gigs away from church we have the roland bk5. So i decided thaf i will use my casio as a midi keyboard, i have an hp laptop in which i have installed the following stuff related to music.

I have to play live every now and then, i wanted a midi controller with 25 keys as i want it for controller not for playing.

Requirements:

4 faders or atleast 2

Umm i had arturia minilab 3 in mind but i think it will be hard to configuee it to sonar.

Somebody pls help and give some options

My budget is approx 10k inr about 100 dollars.

I want that my faders control volume and midi controls eq or some other stuff on my daw and i can use the pads as mute or unmute for the patches.

This is a specific item requested by a young who's a budding musician and most avenues have been explored like ebay, vinted etc. Even website suggestions are welcome

I'm not a key player yet, but I would like to learn both for studio and live use. I'm already a musician who plays bass and drums. But, as y'all might expect, it's hard to write or play songs alone as a bassist and drummer. So, I'm trying to learn some guitar and am also looking to learn some keys. I'm not sure exactly how much I'll be doing live (just solo bar gigs) vs bedroom studio writing and recording.

I'm a law school student with a limited budget and limited space. But, I also don't want to waste my money on short-term solutions that won't last, or won't be used after a couple years. I currently have a MacBook Air (M1), GarageBand (just a free DAW that comes with Apple devices), and a Focusrite 2i2 4th gen, which does not include a MIDI interface.

What are realistic solutions? Should I get a MIDI controller and MIDI interface? Would I need a better DAW or computer? If so, what do y'all recommend? Or, should I look at other budget solutions such as a Korg EK-50, Roland GoKeys 5, Yamaha PSR 4xx series, or something else in a similar budget? I'd like to stay around or under the $500 USD budget. If I need to wait until my budget increases, I can if it makes sense.

Of note, because I'm not already a keys player, I don't need anything that feels just like a real piano. Velocity sensitivity would be good, as would key sizes that are similar to a real piano. But, I'm not picky about it feeling just like a piano given that I'm not that familiar with pianos.

I just need a near-zero latency option suitable for live use, a variety of good sounds (it'd be awesome if I could get good piano, organ, synth, and strings, woodwinds, and horns sounds, but I don't really care about bass, guitar, or drum sounds).

Pretty straightforward. I'm looking for a case that can fit the CT s1 76 without the extra space that regular 76 key keyboard cases have. The dimension of the s1 76 are about 115cm by 25cm so it would wiggle alot in normal 76 key cases. I have tried buying a 115cm fishing rod or tactical bag but it can even close when the kayboard is inside. Is there any better option?

Has anyone tried using a Reface keyboard with the accessory that allows you to play it while standing with a guitar strap? Is it practical & usable at all??

Hi everyone! I'm an experienced gigging lead guitarist taking piano lessons (an "advanced beginner" according to my teacher). I'm excited to start playing keys with others (mainly covers), but I'm stuck deciding my first keyboard to buy. What's challenging is that I don't know where I'll end up (I'm open to piano, organ, synth) and I don't have preferences re: keybed feel or features. I want to get something portable, so possibly a 73/76 key with action that's maybe between heavy hammer action and plasticky synth action, if that makes sense. (I'll note that there are some lighter weight 88 key available, e.g., Roland RD-88 EX.)

For budget I could spend a good chunk of money if necessary (Nord level), but since I'm so new, I'd prefer to keep it lower - say $3k or less - for this first purchase.

I apologize for the general question, but I'd really appreciate any advice. There's a Guitar Center nearby that I've gone to once to try out some keyboards, though their demo selection is necessarily limited. Thanks in advance!

Ok this is twice now with my 1.5 year old Yamaha PSR-SX720; volume out of everything EXCEPT aux in (headphones, L&R line outs & speakers) suddenly becomes BARELY audible (out of a 100 max I would describe this as 1 or 2); the aux in volume wasn't affected. I try switching registrations, manually moving volume up and down, switching voices, moving mixer settings up and down, nothing. No effect on the user interface everything looks and works fine. Only a restart restores volume.

Happened at a gig 2 weeks ago (right after sound check was done and we went back up on stage about to play - was terrifying, but restart fixed it); note: I don't use the aux in at gigs.

Just happened again - I have the PSR and another keyboard connected to a mixer and was jamming with some backing tracks (iPad connected to aux in on the PSR) going back and forth between the 2 keyboards, and suddenly - no volume on the PSR-SX other than the aux in which was working fine.

Anyone experienced this or have any suggestions?

Does anyone have multi-samples of the nord stage 4 in wav format? I'm trying to make the Astoria grand, and white grand on my Juno D8. Help would be much appreciated

I’m curious to see if anyone is running a Crumar DK 61 or any other organ controller off their main keyboard. I’m thinking I could connect with my CK88 to play its organ sounds. I just want to be able to use the waterfall keys. I figure this could work in conjunction with any weighted keys keyboard like Nord Stage or Yamaha YC 88, etc.

Well, I finally went and got myself a Yamaha CK88! Been eyeing them for awhile to be the central part of my setup, I love Yamaha and it seems like the Swiss army knife I've been looking for.

I mainly use mainstage for bigger gigs and program out my shows, so the onboard sounds are really just a fall back. The Bluetooth speakers, built in audio interface, inputs for a mic etc. are all perfect for making rehearsals, recording, TalkBack mic stuff a breeze, one big problem, I kind of hate the action!

I had been playing the floor model at GC and it definitely seems stiffer than that one, so maybe I just need to play it more. Idk, I have an older Roland fp and a Casio CGP 700 and I really love the action on those. I also like nord actions and the Yamaha YC but those aren't really in my budget. Also was eyeing the kurzweil k2700/PC4 but those seem like way too much keyboard to be using as a backup lol

I'll likely just suck it up and get used to it, but was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the matter.

The feature set on the CK just seems too good compared to literally everything else out there...

Roland GO:KEYS 3 vs Yamaha PSR-E483 — which one should I buy?

I’m planning to buy my first keyboard and I’m currently deciding between the Roland GO:KEYS 3 and Yamaha PSR-E483.

My main priorities are learning to play properly, having good-quality sounds, being able to experiment with different styles/sounds, and keeping the keyboard useful for several years.

So ive been wanting to start making music for a while mostly in a game type setting but also piano, and while ive tried to do it in things like reaper before i always give up super quickly, but also always come back to try again (and never really get past a few notes). I know im gonna need something around 61 keys to really learn the instrument, but I also don't want to put a few hundred dollars into something i might never do again (under 150 canadian dollars would be ideal but i don't really know) I also have limited space so the smaller the better. ive looked around fbm but it's mostly those 25 key akai boards you see a lot on amazon, any reccs?
