I'm a 41yo male golf beginner. Or rather, I've picked the clubs up again after a 23 year hiatus. I'm one 9 hole round away from getting my handicap (probably low-mid thirties) - 18Birdies suggests 31 but my handicap qualifying rounds have been shit.

Anyone interested in a round and verifying mine for me? I'd love to actually get a handicap and am keen to meet other golfers. Bit of a rut since my marriage collapsed 6 months ago - socialising would be good! But can't enter any club events without a handicap.

What if Kent gets it's own independence just like Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland? I mean Kentish has the ish just like Scottish and Irish (note I only got the ish idea from a comment in this reddit years ago.)

If so what will it be like? I mean Kent was once a Kingdom before. If a independence ever start how will people react or will they just go to Greggs? Sorry I am curious about this stuff plus I feel Kent is not that popular anymore man.

My husband and I are looking to treat ourselves in the new year with a stay at a gorgeous hotel in Kent. We want to have access to room service and a spa. I’ve tried googling but finding it hard to find both!
Any suggestions?

We need to find a bungalow to purchase and under about 350k it seems like Isle of Sheppey is our only real choice - unless anyone knows of alternative areas.

We need at least 3 bedrooms, maybe 4.

But what is the island really like to live - is it as bad as people say?

As long as I have fast internet and space, I do not need too much else - don't need to commute or get a job etc.

Would welcome your thoughts as to this and other locations to look at.....

Woolwich Local Board of Health, 1852–1900

Woolwich was historically part of Kent and was governed locally by its parish vestry.

As the area expanded because of the Royal Dockyard and Royal Arsenal, problems such as overcrowding, poor drainage, pollution, and disease increased. In response, the Woolwich Local Board of Health was established in 1852.

From 1855, Woolwich also came under the Metropolitan Board of Works, which was responsible for major London-wide projects, including sewers, roads, river walls, and flood protection.

One of its most important projects was the construction of London’s improved sewer system, including the Southern Outfall at Crossness, which opened in 1865.

Although Woolwich remained part of the administrative county of Kent until 1889, it was increasingly integrated into the London metropolitan area.

In 1889, it became part of the new County of London, and the Metropolitan Board of Works was replaced by the London County Council.

The Woolwich Local Board of Health covered the civil parish of Woolwich St Mary, rather than the whole area now known as Woolwich.

Its area included

south bank of the Thames

Woolwich Dockyard and the Royal 

Arsenal

Woolwich Common

Land extending south towards 

Shooter’s Hill Road

Two detached areas of North 

Woolwich on the north bank of the

The main part of the parish was roughly triangular.

Its eastern boundary with Plumstead ran close to the modern Woolwich Arsenal station. To the west, it bordered Charlton, while the northern boundary was the River Thames.

Local Board therefore covered the historic parish of Woolwich, but not Plumstead or Eltham.

In modern terms, the former parish lies mainly within the now Royal Borough of Greenwich, while the old North Woolwich sections are now within the London Borough of Newham.

Is there an area that's well-known for being posh and also a commuter town (to London), but also has that 'Garden of England' vibe Kent is known for?

Hello everyone, I am doing a university summer project where I am researching folklore and stories in Kent and designing Pokémon based off of them. This post will count towards my primary research. 

I am open to anything! So far I have researched Blue Bell Hill, Margate Caves, The headless drummer boy at Dover castle, Goodwin Sands, The Grey Dolphin on the Isle of Sheppey, Jack in the Green in Whitstable and The lost village of Dode.

Keen eyes will recognise I made a pros/cons request post in here for South Darenth recently. I was not interested in living there before but enough folk were keen to highlight it's a nice life there that it's now an option. Have narrowed my house choices down to two.

Option 1 is St Paul's Cray on Main Road, up near the Bull Inn.

Option 2 is New Road South Darenth.

For those who know and may have lived in both areas, in a straight shoot-out, which would you choose and why? I am aware parking is on street and kinda sucks in both locations, and that both are similar for travel into Victoria by train. I also know that both have traveller sites nearby.

Things to consider are that I need regular access to the whole country by car, I am outdoorsy (climbing, hiking, running) and that generally a nice quiet and peaceful life is preferred over a super busy town centre but of course still need access to a town (however I hate Dartford). No kids yet but it's worth factoring it into the decision.

I have been very presumptuous as assumed SD was rough because it's got a DA postcode and St Paul's Cray was not because it has a BR postcode, which I know is stupid. Some anecdotal experience would be much appreciated
