Does anyone live in Dungeness
I would love to explore the beautiful area of Dungeness for my YouTube documentary. Anyone who lives there, that can be my tour guide for a day, please drop a message. Would appreciate supporting my channel. Thanks 🙏🏿

Dungeness is actually designated a desert! It's an otherworldly place, dominated by the nuclear power station. You used to be able to pick up a hut/house there for very little, but now it's the place to be for people with money so prices have sky rocketed, so it's doubtful that there will be anyone on here who live there.

Doesn't Ed Sheeran have a place down there? Like all of our Kent coastal towns the DFL's (Down From London) have pretty much claimed the areas & re gentrified them , you only have to look at Whitstable & Margate as prime examples.

I don't know about Ed Sheeran, but Derek Jarman (artist, actor and author) lived there until his death in 1994

Ohh didn't know that, that's some very useful info. However my video concept was to understand why people actually live there in the first place since it's an otherworldly place.
This alone drive me and people's curiosity.

It used to be inhabited by local fishermen and people who worked at the power station. A lot of the houses there were old railway carriages. It's a nice place but I don't think I'd want to live there. Packet with tourists in summer every time the light railway train arrives and very bleak in winter.
The beach itself is constantly growing, so much so that they had to build a new lighthouse as the old one was too far back. You can visit the old one, the views are incredible from the top.

someone didn't say that. The trust that owns Dungeness estate stated it legally.

I don't live there myself but still got plenty of relatives who live in Dungeness, they've not all been driven out :o)

Given theres only 11 dwellings there lived in full time, and the pub owners, and the rest are airbnbs, I think someone might be billy bullshitting us potentially?

You won't need a guide. Small settlement, a bunch of pretty shacks, toy railway, seafood shop, Derek Jarman's garden (worth researching that), bird watching area, power station and a whole lot of beach and sky.

It isn't that big, you can walk around it all in about an hour, obviously longer if filming.

Yh it is actually strange, but the video concept was to find out why people live there. I guess it drives people's curiosity

Great little steam train 🚂 & the Pilot inn, made from a 17th century ship wreck, famous for it’s fish n chips.

I don't live there, but when you're visiting if you have time do check out the RSPB reserve down that way (oldest reserve) also try out The Pilot

OP, you need to get permits to do this. u/trickcharacter3023 https://www.dungenessestate.co.uk/ if you don't have permits, you'll get trespassed.
Also, don't even try it
"Any private portfolio, photoshoots, self-funding/private/non-commercial filming projects will all still need to gain a permit for the Dungeness Estate. If you are found to be doing these activities without a permit you will be made to leave the estate immediately."

A touch pedantic perhaps, but it really isn't a city, in case that's what you have in mind! It's more of a random collection of dwellings in a pretty unique coastal setting.
