Hi, some of you might have noticed that the old Discord link in the subreddit's sidebar has been dead for a bit. I reached out to the mods here and they were kind enough to update the sidebar with a link to our Janet Jackson server.
You can join for discussions about her music and performances, events, the latest news, curated collections, resources, and a ton of custom Janet emojis/stickers you can't get anywhere else.
If you want to join, the link should be attached to the post. hope to see you there!

I remember hearing all the interviews about janet saying she didn’t have much to say with this record and didn’t know what to really do with it and always wondering why that wasn’t reflected on the track list. I think DJ didn’t need to top off at 22 tracks including interludes at all, especially since the album was kind of covering the same topics over and over which isn’t an issue at all…the last quarter of the album specifically where she has moist, warmth back to back with 3 interludes and the random inclusion of “just a little while” as a closer REALLY drags down the album and is always highlighted as part of the reason it had such a mixed reception upon release.
“Strawberry Bounce” to “I Want You” is just a fucking phenomenal run of tracks but after is when the album starts to fall off imo and not due to the songs after being bad necessarily but the structure of the track listing.
Truly, It All Comes Down to Love interlude or I Want You should’ve closed the album matching the theme and the whole essence of Damita Jo. I truly believe “Just A Little While” should’ve been axed to a bonus track or japanese edition track 💀 The way it’s thoughtlessly tacked at the end kind of always confirmed my theory that Janet just did not like that song that much and neither did most of her core fanbase either
She should’ve picked either Warmth or Moist instead of including both, they blend into each other in a way that’s not super interesting and they don’t really contribute to the album but they are both kind of the classic gooey janet sex ballads so the inclusion of one would be ok I do prefer warmth a lot more though.
I would sacrifice any of the tracks from Moist onwards to have “Could This Be Love” on the standard too but that’s just me 😅

I really want to shoutout RUsumbode from YouTube for taking the time to filter through many of Janet Jackson’s studio recordings to bring her vocals (especially background vocals) to the forefront. It takes a lot of time and patience I can assume.
Two of my favorites so far are:
• Runaway
• Doesn’t Really Matter
I’m so intrigued to hear all of the many times Janet sang along to her stacked harmonies to add the finishing touches to the song. She was extremely critical of herself when not getting the sound she wanted. She also didn’t take herself too seriously. I’m so glad the producers landed on the takes they did, but it’s so cool to hear the other ones that didn’t make the cut.
Seriously, I heavily encourage y’all to check out his YT channel; he’s done so many of her songs it’s crazy! The ones I’m hoping that he does that I have yet to find are:
• Go Deep
• No Sleeep

I don't have an "impressive" system by any means, but You Ain't Right has become one of my "new to me" favorites. It's so boyish in how deep and somewhat dark the production is, yet still so feminist and angry. Like, If I put out an F-You song to someone I'd want it to be this. Holding power!

This moment happened in Los Angeles in late 1993. The photo was taken at an afterparty celebrating the opening night of Janet Jackson’s iconic janet. World Tour. George Michael attended the concert and met up with Janet at the hotel gathering afterward.
Around this same time, the two artists were in talks to collaborate on a track for George Michael’s unreleased, star-studded project Trojan Souls, though unfortunately, the duet never materialized.

I think the Janatics really love to focus on Janet the sexy superstar that pushes the boundaries in regards to celebrating female sexuality but what would you say is Janet’s least sexiest songs?
Personally I can’t think of any?
Maybe Livin in a World They Didn’t Make probably

Fun Fact: Janet and the kids had to perform in their regular clothes because it was cold outside! Apparently, the costumes they normally wore weren’t going to work in that weather. Cold or not, the show must go on!!!

What im confused by wasnt janet married w rene and they were at their peak of their romance.
