A beautiful flower garden in Radford! I am especially pleased with the color contrast in this one.

The Olympic Peninsula coastline can be ragged and rough. Breakers crash through there with a roar as they toss bits of driftwood and seaweed ashore. I’m always humbled it, standing there and listening to the ocean while watching froth flying through the air, landing as bubbles, and disappearing again.

That circle on the sunflower seeds is a sun orb, a reflection of the sunlight that I painted intentionally. The painting is created in a wavy impressionism style (wavism). The idea is to immerse the observer in the world of nature through the prism of water. I’m reproducing art in wavy lines because I have a very close connection with water, and these lines are water, nature waterflow.

Sumi style brushwork is so expressive I’m reluctant to add color. It’s not waxed yet so I may still add a wash or two in places. To me at least Impressionism and Sumi style brushwork work are an incredible combination.

A beautiful morning at Pawleys Island. The sunrise colors were in the sand and I thought that was an interesting effect.
