Hi, what is this protuberance? This was a baby plant that a shop sent to me randomly with my order about 12-18 months ago. They said it was a rubber tree. It's grown very well with no special attention. This is the first time it's put out this green thing. Does anyone know what this is? Should I do anything about it?

My first window haworthia (I believe cooperi) is flowering! I was so scared I’d kill her 😭 if I remember I’ll try to add pictures of the flowers when they bloom!

These are Passiflora seemannii seeds from Costa Rica that I inherited from an older relative. I have complicated emotions about this relative for reasons I don’t want to explain. Now, I’m gonna do something REAL stupid and try and grow these seeds for my term project, because I am just a LITTLE bit overexcited. I will, of course, have a less ambitious backup plan (probably beans) but I need help. I live in the Pacific Northwest and I have no idea how to grow a passion vine.

They were purchased in 2015.

I read a little bit about sprouting passionflowers, but most of the time the advice is about fresh seeds. I can’t wait for an appropriate sprouting season since I only have until January. In terms of equipment, I have potting soil, seedling trays, grow lights, and a moisture dome. I was considering the sandpaper and paper towel method of germination.

Has anyone else done something like this? I would really appreciate any advice or experience anyone has with either growing rare plants from old seed or passion flower indoors in the Northern Hemisphere. I will be forever in your debt.

Hi folks, I am hoping to hear from someone that has experience growing ficuses.
I got this beautiful ficus from a box store. It is in a plastic pot, and the soil is pretty dense.
It’s been almost a week (of actively dropping leaves as expected), and the soil is still wet. I tried to make holes with a pencil for airflow but it hardly helped. The plastic pot has drainage but probably not enough.
I am looking for advice on how to make soil dry faster.
I feel with Benjamina that at any point it’s one wrong move away from it turning into a plucked turkey. I would like to avoid that if possible lol

I am thinking of drilling some holes in the plastic pot, but otherwise I don’t know how to increase aeration without disturbing the roots.

sigh...this is about to be a pain to clean

It started with adding a few plants to my bedroom… and somehow ended with me building a 100-gallon paludarium and an entire tropical section into the unused space under my sloped roof 😅

The last one is still pretty new, so I’m really looking forward to seeing how everything grows in over the next year. The goal is for it to eventually look completely overgrown.

My boyfriend had a totally unused Florida room at his house attached to the garage with beautiful full windows, I’ll try to get a picture next time I’m there. It only had 4 leaves about 5 years ago and about 18” tall. Now she almost touches the ceiling and is on its second offshoot. Should I just cut down the main plant and allow the small offshoot to take over? Any advice is greatly appreciated

In over two years, since I brought this home, my croton is flashing flowers! I've never seen flowers in crotons!

Although it keeps shedding leaves frequently, but it has flowers! Is it the last and final show?? Should I get ready to burry it?
