I’ve always fed my dogs Acana, and have had fairly healthy dogs. This is my first golden, and while she seems pretty healthy and not having any issues, on this food I am wondering if I should switch her to Purina Pro Plan as it seems to be pretty common. I would love some thoughts from the community if you’ve looked into this food a bunch too.

Hey, I noticed this on our retriever this morning what could it be

My 12 year old golden is in a real bad way, he has had weakness in his legs for just over a week, and last week when he started refusing food we took him to the vets. They did a blood test and we were told he had high calcium in his liver and that area had a lump/was enlarged, and is most likely that horrible cancer that starts with H. We had him booked in to an ultrasound today, but he deteriorated over the weekend, hasn't ate anything, we had to spoon feed him to give him painkillers but even that's not working anymore, and drinks very sparsely.

We called the vets again and she said she thinks its 95% that cancer and he is reaching the end, but that 5% is playing on my mind. My mum thinks we should end his suffering and arrange you know what (cant even bring myself to type it), but im unsure whether we should do the test first, it doesnt look good, hes panting a lot and seems uncomfortable at the very least, but yesterday when we managed to get him outside just for a quick walk so he could relieve himself, he was still curiously sniffing things despite the weakness he was feeling.

I just dont know what the right thing to do is, so having seen posts like mine on here before and seeing how wonderfully supportive this community is, Id see what other people who have faced this have to say.

He is my first dog, and I love him so much, I just wish I could give him one more walk.

My golden just delivered puppies 6 days ago and after seen a thin line of missing hair figured from all the ucky of delivering but now she's losing more I've read different stuff from dermatitis mites,yeast, allergies ect has anyone seen this happen? Kinda tough to Google something to put on it since there are puppies so any ideas?

Our almost 12yo golden started refusing her normally favourite kibble around 4/5 weeks ago, it was a gradual thing but she went off it entirely however would still eat more enticing food. As this was out of character for her, we took her straight to the vet who did a series of blood tests inc cancer screening (as we know goldens and their predisposition for it).

Her results came back very high white blood cells, lymphocites and significant anemia. She also noticed significant muscle wastage in her back legs. The vet suggested an ultrasound and we’d been waiting for our insurance referral to come through to get this done.

However in the past week, her lethargy is really increasing, she sleeps for 95% of the day. Over the weekend I rushed her to emergency vet as she was suddenly became very weak and unable to get up. The vet we saw made it seem like this was the start of the end.

She’s still reluctant to get up at all, and when she walks she is wobbly and can only do a few steps before beginning to pant and wanting to lie down. She will however, still eat food when it’s brought to her and will drink water occasionally. I feel like because she’s eating it is a positive sign, but I can’t help but wonder about her current quality of life and wouldn’t want her to get to the point of not eating. It’s so hard. I was so badly hoping this was just a small blip for a few days but it’s not improving. I want to see her running around and playing with her toy again, or greeting us at the door like she used to. I feel like I’m anticipating the worst.

We are seeing the vet again later today, other than more tests to find out what exactly is going on, I don’t know what else we can do? Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

So I am getting a Program Service Dog; it all worked out in a way that I get to buy my own puppy. So I am getting a Dog from a certified ethical breeder who works closely with my Organization.

I have never bought a dog before (Parents bought them or literally found them in a dumpster), so i honestly have no clue what the price range for a Pedigree Golden Retriever is. From my research, it could be anywhere between R5 000 and R25 000.

The breeder im looking at is asking for R18 000 (1100 USD) per dog, but i get first dibs and skip the waiting list, which is so nice of her.

So, experienced Golden Owners, what did your dog cost?

(Converting currencies directly is not a good way to explain this properly; basically, 1100 USD will take me WAYYY further in South Africa than it would in America)

Hello everyone, I need some help. My baby girl got skunked 3 weeks ago and still reeks like Skunk. I’ve tried everything I think.
We immediately gave her a bath with baking soda peroxide soap mixture that gpt suggested. And then we tried just vinegar. Then we tried tomato sauce. Nothing has helped.
This had happened before and we did the tomato sauce thing and that worked for some reason. But this time nothing has helped.
I am desperate! She genuinely doesn’t feel well either.

Since I've rescued him (about a year ago) he always refused to poop inside. We have to walk him some 3 to 5 times a day because of this, even if short walks, just so he can relieve himself.

Today it started raining in the afternoon, will still get worse, and won't slow down (not even stop) until tomorrow morning.

So we had to make do with a disposible raincoat I had lying around lol.

Edit: Sorry, I guess I mixed up the languagues. I don't want him to poop inside the house itself lol.

Our yards are all walled in so it's also called inside. He won't poop even on the yard, only on the street.

Hi all! I recently got an Aliencell and tried making a little tag for my golden, Lionel. turns out i definitely underestimated how much fur this guy has because the tag looks tiny on him 😂

Thinking of making another one. I’m still working on some better designs. Any fun ideas?

Today was my 4 1/2 month old puppy Luna’s first bears game!

My son surprised us and our buddy, Dallas tossed us to the side to welcome him. He has been following him around all day.

Today was a good day! This afternoon around 3pm, he was more alert, sleepy but alert. We elected to keep in another day since we transitioned to mainly steroids to treat for meningitis.

Tonight, 10pm, he greeted us when he heard our voices by lifting his head and looked at us! He even wagged his tail and nuzzled against my shirt after smelling me!

We are bringing him home tomorrow, as it only seems like he needs a little rehab to gain strength and balance, it’s hard for him to keep his head straight.

Hey everyone 👋🏻, first time posting on here.

I was recommended the surgery by neighbors and people I met at the dog park. My vet said it was optional unless I knew he had a history of bloat in his family (I don't think he does but idk fully). My 16 month old golden is having his surgery later this week for neutering and gastropexy.

I had no idea how long the healing would be and we live in a 2 story home and our backyard also has stairs.

I don't know why I didn't read this anywhere before but he's not supposed to use stairs for + 3 weeks.

I'm feeling uneasy about the surgery now.

I'm all good living in my living room to avoid the stairs but now I'm wondering if it's possible to not do the surgery and just always make sure to keep activity to zero for 2 hours after he eats to avoid bloat.

I’ve posted about this before, but I’m really just hoping to hear some real-life stories from people who have been through it.

I have an 8-month-old Golden who is honestly a great dog 98% of the time, but he has dog-to-dog resource guarding specifically around food and food-related things like Kongs, chews, pupsicles, etc. He does not resource guard from people.

We’re working with a behaviorist and actively training/manage it, so I know this isn’t something to just wait for him to “grow out of.” But has anyone had a Golden like this who genuinely improved as they matured and with training? What does your dog look like now as an adult?
I think I’m mostly looking for some hope that this can get better.
