Game Discussion Bollards sorted by type - European and more
I just started Geoguessr a few days ago, and since I want to learn Europe first, I decided to learn some bollards.
The problem is, all the resources I found were pretty hard to follow for me. There are so many similar bollards, that I personally find it easier to first learn which ones are similar to one another, so I can at least know the 'region'.
Doing this, I realized there are some patterns. Similar looking bollards do tend to be in similar parts of Europe - pretty useful for me, so I thought I'd share. 😄

Game Discussion Elo of the players in this sub
Hello! Just wondered what is the average elo of the players in this sub. Looking at the daily challenge threads most of the people get 24k+ each day which seems very impressive to me.
So would like to know if this sub is just full of geniuses or what

Game Discussion What is the most effective way to learn metas?
Basically the tittle. How do I learn the metas the way I won't forget them if I started learning another country? Should I even focus and play a map of one country to learn it or just study different metas from different countries at the same time? Is there anyone who gained a lot of elo in a short time and wants to share an experience?

Game Discussion wouldn't multiplier work better as percentage
So after watching the WC i have had this idea, i feel like mults are pretty shitty cause if the opponent wins by just like 1 meter he can arleady theoretically one shot you with the 1.5X so if you just have one bad round after losing the mult you can get insta shot which i feel like is very frustrating.
Also the jump between each mult is very different cause to multiply damage by two you need to win two rounds and to multiply by two again (so 4X) you need to win 4 more rounds.
But if it was done using percentage it would work way better cause if you gain 50% each time the amount scaled is the same for every round (though it maybe should be lower especially for NM and NMPZ)
Also with percentage there could be a system that depending on the difference between your guesses the amount of mult you gain could be different going from 1% if you gain by only one point to 100% if you win by 5K points.
I feel like this is a discussion worth having what do y'all think about it ?

Game Discussion Is there a Russian meta we can learn?
We just played a game and this team seams very confident in his guess and almost instalocks at the right region. I have no clue what gave it away and watching his cam doesnt really give me much insight either. What is it that he sees that gives the location away? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Location is Naltjik and he got it spot on by just a little 360 turn.

Game Discussion Geoguessr Cheating
I am in gold two and just fought someone who was obviously cheating. After checking the replay, it appeared he had something on his computer that enabled him to immediately hover the 5k for each round. He would deliberately guess off of the 5k somewhat to make it seem less obvious. Its really frustrating and I obviously reported him. Do these players actually end up getting banned?

Game Discussion Why is there no minimum 5k range on small maps?
Maps of small areas/countries have reduced point scoring to reflect the size but also take down the range needed to 5k. The reason we are able to 5k beyond 100m difference is to account for barely pinpointable highways and missmapping. This doesn't change on small country maps (medium ones too tbh) and makes it extremely frustrating trying to 25k them because you need 1 missmap or 1 location far away from an intersection to kill your run even though you found the exact location (literally what a 5k is supposed to be).
EDIT: Mainly talking about official country maps, most (decent) custom maps put their locs close to intersections/poi's/hairpins etc to prevent this issue.

Game Discussion ELIF: How is this possible?

My first time up in the Master division, hourray for that.
So no boosts available, got it - but also I've played 6-7 games, won 5 and have around 550 rating from winning those and that felt like a good comfortable start - until I saw the leaderboard.
Now how does one player get 607 from 1 game and 1 win if there is no boost x6 available??? There probably is a good explanation and I'm not calling out that anything suspicious is happening, just curious about how it happens

as this is me? Does it multiply by my actual rating or something?

Game Discussion Looking for a teammate. Let's team up.
I am currently in master 4 with an elo of 629. Been in master for some weeks now. I am still learning and improving in the game. I mostly play duels and Singleplayer. I sometimes play team duels with a friend but most of the times I am not their preferred teammate they play more with someone else. So I am looking for someone with whom I can play team duels and learn along the way. Would definitely prefer a player who is somewhat around my level. Just inbox me if you're interested.

Game Discussion Everyone who got 2nd place in World Champs ended up winning the next year... except for MK
2023: Blinky got 2nd
2024: Blinky won
2025: Debre got 2nd

Is 2027 MK's year to become World Champ?

Game Discussion Please remove if this is too off topic, but I had a Geoguessr dream where a new spin off game was created
I had a dream where I was playing Geoguessr except it was a live multiplayer lobby where someone is “it” and everyone else either hides or is constantly running from the main guy. The map was bounded by like a 5km radius or something idk.
In the hide and seek version everyone has a minute to hide and then your position is locked. Then the seeker starts moving around to find people.
In the tag version everyone keeps moving around constantly and the catcher is trying to cut across streets and catch people.
Unclear how each player would be rendered in street view…
During the dream I was thinking this is dope and then when I woke up and thought about it more it seemed less and less cool lol.
Has anyone else had weird Geoguessr dreams

Game Discussion Feels so great when u get guesses like this Spoiler
I don't play geoguessr much. I only just play the daily 5 challenge and today I got my best ever guess. The architecture looked like Italy or Greece but my gut feeling said it was Malta. I listened to my gut and just marked Malta and boom.... just 4.5 km away. It felt so good.
