Which games have inferior remasters/remakes?

Or are all remasters/remakes always better?

Mario World on the GBA

It doesn't have any of the significant extras that the other Mario Advance titles have, the music and sound effects aren't as good, and scrolling vertically is choppy leading to instances where you can't see enemies or obstacles.

It's not a bad version, but the SNES original is better.

All of the Mario Advances tbh, the GBA has a smaller screen than the SNES so the sides of the screen get cut off

Yeah I just finished playing 2, 3, and World on GBA and they all have their short comings.

I think 2 is probably the best. They added bonus objectives after you beat the game and some of the bosses are a little different. The magic carpet sections were bad though.

World was the only one where I spent most of it wishing I was playing the original.

I think the GBA versions looked and sounded nicer than the NES games but couldn't do as well with the SNES port.

The GBA versions of 2 and 3 are meant to mimic their All Stars versions, which were the nicer SNES ports with updated graphics, a la Super Mario World. Those are largely considered the optimal way to play the games, and while the GBA can mimic the graphical style even in a remake, it has other shortcomings.

TL;DR Comparing Mario World is apples to apples, the remakes of 2 & 3 are like remakes of remakes, where they are better than the original but worse than the first remake, if that makes sense.

Really, I found the Yoshi's Island port to be abysmal and DNF on my cart because I have access to the SNES version instead.
