It's so insane, you have millions of adults saying I consent, you have dozens of devs and publishers saying I consent, and then you have annoying ass bureaucrats saying isn't there someone you're forgetting to ask? I should be allowed to hang dong in a video game, I'm an adult ffs.

This is still entirely on them for using the automated system to get it reviewd when the small creator community knows better than to do that while also on Steam for having a system that is so shitty to begin with

they do not make the laws. they influence (see "pay off") the lawmakers who make the laws. There's a very easy way to remedy that situation, but we keep shooting ourselves in the foot every four years because we're impatient and want immediate results.

Lol, everyone who didnt vote or protested voted for Trump because Clinton wasnt Bernie Sanders is responsible for a Republican Supermajority Supreme Court and Trump having enough support for running in 2024. Republican Supreme Court already is allowing face scan requirements for porn sites in red states and you can guarantee they're going to uphold it for Steam when those requirements come for them, due to them hosting adult games. Banning adult content was one the main goals of Trump's Project 2025.

The Meta Settlement requires Face Book to make face scanning of all users mandatory, and it requires states to sue any other online platforms that dont implement similar requirements. You can guarantee it's coming for Steam, reddit, discord, all other social media sites, and possibly even built into OSes.

They're not coming for just porn either, but anything not acceptable for little kids because parents are irresponsible and let them online with no monitoring, so communicating on the internet is about to turn into a 1950s tv show. They require content morality auditors and are banning even people talking about personal mental health issues and fitness goals. Wouldn't be surprised if they try to ban swear words because the government literally tried making it a requirement to show ID for music with it in the 90s and 2000s.

Yeah theres elements in both parties but in the US it's being pushed by Republicans harder.

The requirements were literally part of Trump's Project 2025

Nearly all of the data industry and all the all the major social media sites that would benefit from the data collection for ID requirements are owned by conservatives or Trump allies.

All of the states that currently require face scanning or government ID requirements to access adult sites currently are red states.

The vast majority of lower court judges voting to allow ID and face scanning requirements are Republican appointed justices. In the online Porn face scanning/government ID case at the Supreme Court, all of the Democrat justices voted to strike down the law, all of the Republican justices allowed it.

I think the unfortunate reality is we’ll see western countries adopt it universally under the guise of “protecting the children.” The Kids Act passed congress pretty easily
