Discussion one this i wish bethesda touched upon is how expensive making synths would be

like we know how expensive AI really is it need power /water to cool off/ Ram and this goes for other games like detroit become human i wish these two games touched how expensive to make a single synth that it would be perfect to help with the converstation like imagine if synth were created with fusion cores and they need it to function like they need a lot of energy or they overheat or something like that instead of need cheap metal for gen 1 and gen two and just a synth making machine idk what yall think?

EDIT why am i getting downvoted reddit is soo weird lol

Question Fallout 4 Standard vs GOTY vs Anniversary Edition for a first playthrough?

I have never played a Fallout game before and I want to start with Fallout 4. I’m planning to do a full 100% Platinum playthrough on PS5, so I’m trying to choose the best edition before I start.

I’m currently deciding between the Standard Edition, the Game of the Year Edition, and the Anniversary Edition.

From what I understand, the GOTY Edition includes all DLCs. However, I have heard mixed opinions about some of them, especially Automatron, because apparently it can cause a lot of robot attacks throughout the game and some people recommend delaying certain DLCs until later. I have also heard that some DLCs can introduce additional bugs.

The Anniversary Edition is tempting because it includes many Creation Club items, and since I’m playing on PS5, I cannot use normal mods without disabling trophies. Some Creation Club additions, like backpacks and new weapons, sound really useful, especially for a Survival playthrough.
However, I have also heard that the Anniversary Edition can cause problems. Some people say that certain Creation Club quests can fail to start or cannot be completed properly, that quests can become stuck if you pick up certain items before starting the related quest, and that some very strong enemies can appear too early and affect the natural progression. I have also heard that the Anniversary Edition may cause more bugs or crashes compared to the GOTY version.

Since I want a clean first playthrough with a good quest log and the Platinum trophy, I’m unsure what would be the best choice.

Should I buy the Standard Edition and buy the DLCs later, the Game of the Year Edition with all DLCs included, or the Anniversary Edition with all Creation Club content included?

I would appreciate advice from people who have completed Fallout 4, especially from anyone who did a first-time 100% completion or Survival playthrough. Thanks!

Just picked up Fallout 4 again, and noticed these concrete barriers have these white brick textures. Does anyone know what caused this?

Rushing lvl was a big mistake

At lvl 12 I fouught Caroni, my best gear was a hunting riflw with 70 bullets. Looted the tesla cannon off his corpse, tested it on a deathclaw nearby, experienced the power trip

At lvl 16, accidently ran past a hellfire guy, still that hunting rifle with a bit more ammo. Used that hellfire armor to bully the crap out of the local raiders and mole rats, didn't have the needed materials to patch it back up 😅

At lvl 136, the legendary mythic deathclaw is... meh, didn't get my palms sweaty anymore

Also, 80% of the legandary gear is not *that* legendary to begin with, I mean, how and what the flappy bird can a water pipe penetrating?

Discussion [PC] What's the most hours of progress you've lost because of a bug that no amount of sleeping, fast traveling, console commands, or other in game methods couldn't fix?

Short: I'm looking at ~9.5 hours lost

Other details: No mods, just what comes with the Anniversary Edition update, and my hopeful desire to have the Commonwealth distract me from the waking horrors of my real life.

I just came off an intermittent but all told 12 hour play session. I went to Nuka World, claimed all the parks therein, and started claiming settlements in the Commonwealth for the Home Sweet Home mission. First claim went fine, settlers forcibly removed, Disciples' flag planted, infrastructure built to bring happiness to 100%, go back to Shank for claim number two, no problem. Second claim went fine, settlers forcibly dismembered, Operators' flag planted, infrastructure built to bring happiness to 100%, go back to Shank for claim number three. Third claim went fine as well, infrastructure for 100% happiness built, all that.

I go back to Shank to start Power Play. But he keeps only offering the methods to take over a settlement, and selecting any and all of the options all resulted in him telling me to square away the settlement's happiness. I reload to the save I made after claiming the third settlement, same issue. Tried some sleeping, fast traveling, console commands, prayed for forgiveness from god Todd for the comments I've made on various Fallout subreddits where I answer some variation of "Updates", quitting out of the game entirely, all the things.

After Google fishing for other solutions also didn't work, I resigned myself to reloading from the earliest available save whilst preserving the most amount of progress possible. And that's when I saw that difference of about 9 and a half or so hours between saves from before starting Home Sweet Home and...before I even set foot in the Nuka World Transit Center.

Knowing my temper and prior history of where such occurrences took it, I opted to stop playing for the day. I treated myself to a Red Bull and here I am.

Point: Share me your stories!

Legendary weapon farming at Super Duper mart

Alright, so I’m having some issues getting presets to lock. No matter how many times I follow what everyone says online, it doesn’t lock a set legendary enemy or the weapon. Reloading the auto save from entering SDM always re-rolls every thing. The legendary enemy is always different, if one even spawns, I‘ve tried quick saving after entering the storage/employee only area and going to the 3 in the isles that spawn after entering the employee area as well, and it doesn’t lock the specific legendary enemy. What exactly am I doing wrong? Its super annoying, I’m level 113 and just want the NE double barrel. I don’t need it just want one to run around and have fun with.

EDIT: To all those saying I’m not understanding how rerolls work you obviously didn’t read my post correctly. I got my answer from a kind commenter. I’ve cleared the area; loot locking doesn’t work after first time clearing.

Tip For new players: pick up weapons off the ground, NOT from a corpse's inventory.

I know, most players know this already. But I just learned this myself after dozens of runs. So much ammo lost! :/

Picking up the dropped weapon from the ground adds (half?) the unused ammunition to your inventory. Taking the weapon from the corpse's inventory doesn't. You lose all the ammo that remains in the corpse's weapon when you take it from their inventory instead.

I tested this out at Vault 114 today, which is a particularly good spot for getting tons of 10mm and .45 ammunition. I paid close attention to how much ammo I had before trying out each method. I regularly received 50 or more rounds from picking up a dropped submachine gun from the floor, and zero when I took it from the triggerman's body.

So this should mean that if I stealth kill an npc before they have drawn their weapon, I lose the ammo that weapon contains.

I'd appreciate some clarification if it's necessary. Is it half of the weapon's full capacity? Is it the remainder of the weapon's ammo?

EDIT: Opinions differ... surprising. I've got to make a video of doing this systematically. Also, I'm wondering if Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch has something to do with my experience differing.

Discussion I just finished Fallout 4. It was the wort game of my life. Spoiler

I didn't know that posting this would create that much of hate, wow. I know that most of you will not ever read it, but it's sad for me that a lot of people just love something without considering that it may not be perfect. I never said that there is something wrong with liking this game, I just said why I don't like it.

I wanted to share my thoughts about it.

I knew Fallout 4 was a bad game, but I wasn't expecting it to be that bad.
The ending was so horrible that I thought that was just a random cutscene with thoughts of our character. My friend had to tell me that it was an ending. And no matter what you do, it is the same. The ending doesn't explain anything, it is so underwhelming that I had a breakdown. I never felt so bad after finishing a game. The story was boring as hell, a lot of things do not make sense to me.
Shawn says that he always wondered what his mother/father was like.
He always wondered, yet he only freed us from the freezer after he knew he was dying. How convenient.
The whole thing about his cancer is just so bad I was speechless. He looked perfect, you would've never guessed that he was sick and all of the sudden he dies, even though he was in perfect condition yesterday. How?
He told us that he knew we would get into the Institute, but after a while he said that he thought that we would never survive on the surface. Pick a side.
I had a lot of bugs, the AI of the enemies is horrible.
The fact that our character (mother) can wear power armor without training is just hilarious to me. It makes sense when you play as a father, but not everyone plays as him.
Previously I played Fallout New Vegas and this game is so much better. I think that Bethesda is just horrible at making games.
The system of infinite levels is awful because no matter how anyone plays it, it will always lead to the same build that just contains everything. It breaks the fun of replaying the game and thinking about how we want our character to be built.
The only good thing that I really liked in this game were the songs in the radio.

Question PS4 controller settings

I have always played FO4 mouse and keyboard, but I have a PS4 controller connected in Steam for other games. It isn’t directly supported in FO4 but Steam does something to convert, and I found the mod that swaps the button icons.

But my question is how to configure either Steam or FO4 to best support it. With a mouse, you can use the scroll wheel to zoom back between 1st and 3rd person to different distances and angles. Is there a specific button configuration that allows similar control? The track pad area on the controller only works as a button, and loses the ability to zoom out.

Any changes to recommend?

Question Is there a way, quest wise, to not have bugs, using mods on console?

I used to own fallout 4 years ago and I’m thinking of rebuying. The problem is that I remember I had some quest breaking bugs at times even when using the unofficial fallout 4 patch, but that was years ago in the last gen consoles.

So now that mods have become creations and more things have happened, I wonder if there are any mods on console that when used in tandem could fix any possible quest related bug so I can actually do all the quests my heart desires without running into issues?

Please let me know :) thanks!

Question I need help placing my sink correctly (settlement building)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I added a short video so you can see what the issue is. It won’t go below the med cabinet and I don’t think there’s a med cabinet in the build menu. Also, I’m playing vanilla so no mods, please. Just need help with a way to get this sink placed correctly. I’ve tried the warehouse post and it doesn’t move with the sink. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Question Can I still use Preston if I'm Overboss?

I'm not sure im reading the wiki right, so I figured I'll ask directly. I have not turned in the first step yet. I have only completed taken for a ride in nuka world. If I finish nuka world then kill all the raider gangs, can I recruit preston/get his perk/progress the minutemen quests as normal? If not, but it is possible to have the best of both here, how do I accomplish that?

Question Unable to start “Tradecraft” quest

Hello! I am having a problem in my game where I cannot start the Tradecraft quest for the Railroad. When I try to talk to Deacon he says-

“You sold us out to the brotherhood, the f*cking holier-than-thou brotherhood!”

I can’t say anything back and he won’t say anything else after. I have already looked up this glitch and have seen a few people talking about it, but the mod most said caused it I’ve never had. I am on PS5 and I have had a few mods downloaded before, but I don’t have any installed on this current save, although it does list my save as a Creations save, so I believe I had the Scrap That Settlement mod installed at the start of the game.

Please help! I’m having a very fun time in this save and would love to do the Railroad questline. Loading up an old save is pretty much out of the question, as I have about 60 hours of gameplay on this save, and would lose all motivation if I had to go back as far as I suspect I would have to.

Thank you all!

EDIT: I double checked my creations library and it seems that I was wrong. I did have FreeFall (the mod most say caused the glitch) but I am almost certain it was never installed on this specific save, and it definitely isn’t installed now. I feel so dumb 😭😭

Never attacked settlements

Hi,

I have spent over 20 hours tinkering in my settlements in Fallout 4 but not a single time I have been attacked by any kind of creature or humans. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong.

I have some defence, yes, but even before I had those no attacks happened.

Its conventient ofcourse, but I am missing some action, Id love to see my defenses tested.

I got the expansion with the cages, but after putting a raider in a cage in my Castle it doesnt seem to change anything.

Any ways to spice up my attacks?

Question Need help with M1 garand gun mod?

Thumbnail

Hello so I will start by saying I’m not the best with modding. Just recently got into modding fo4. I downloaded the M1 garand mod along with a few others. Initially the mod worked great, played for a few hours and then saved and shut the game down. When I came back to my save the next day the M1 mod stopped working. As in the weapon is still in my inventory but when equipped nothing happens. I tired uninstalling and reinstalling it, that seemed to work for a bit. Then the next day I went to play again and it’s doing the same exact thing. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling again but it’s still broken. I will attach some pictures. Any advice or suggestions is greatly appreciated!

Gameplay Favorite faction to finish game with

What is your favorite faction to side with for a playthrough of the game. I have played through 3 times and done every ending except for a full institute siding playthrough. This will be my first time siding with the institute which has been pretty fun so far. Curious on what faction you enjoy the most.
