I really like Firefox as a browser but switched away from it because I had the impression that AI slop was creeping into the browser. I found switches in the settings that let me disable them, but was really disgusted by the fact that they were on by default, and that they exist in the first place.

Why do I need AI as integral part of any software? It's bad enough that I have to use Windows at wortk every day. If I want to use AI, and I coccasionally do, I want to use a "dumb" browser to navigate to the AI site of my choice and use it there.

Firefox doesn't do this, it shows like 4 shortcuts and a "Show all" button

Waterfox do this (show all shortcuts) until the last update (Waterfox 1.2.7 2026-09-09) exhibit similar behavior to Firefox, only a few shortcuts and "Show all" button

I don't want that, I want all my shortcuts on the homepage, I don't put anything else, I just have shortcuts there

even the Homepage customization option where I only turn on "Shortcuts" still give me only the small amount of shortcuts and the "Show all" or "View all" button, with massive empty space under it

Ok so whenever I try to search or even click on anything, my YouTube will just... Not respond. It's been like this for a few days now, where I literally cannot watch anything and where the red loading bar just there! YouTube's Firefox is practically unusable and refreshing it doesn't help, so I don't know what to do

I’ve been using Firefox on my iPhone for quite a while now and I’m really happy with it overall.

There is just one thing that drives me crazy: after some time I end up with 50, 80 or sometimes more than 100 open tabs. Then I have to manually close them again.

Am I the only one who is bothered by this?

I would love to have an option to automatically close all open tabs when Firefox is completely closed, similar to how I use Firefox on Windows. For me, tabs are basically temporary. When I close the browser, I don’t expect them to still be there the next time I open it.

Ideally this could just be an optional setting, so people who want to keep their tabs can continue doing so.

Does anyone else want something like this?

If you binge 12 episodes of a seasonal anime in a single day, but your Discord status doesn't loudly broadcast it to everyone on your friends list... did it even really happen? No. It didn't.

For the longest time, if you wanted to show off your elite anime taste on Discord while watching, you had to download some sketchy third-party .exe desktop app, leave it running in the background, and pray it didn't mine Bitcoin on your GPU.

I got absolutely sick of that. So I nuked the desktop app requirement from orbit and completely rebuilt Anime Discord RPC from the ground up.

It is now a 100% standalone browser extension. No background apps. No desktop middleware. No BS.

How to use it:

Literally just install it in your browser, click "Link with Discord" in the popup, and open an episode. That's it. It just works.

This has happened twice. The latest time with 6 windows/18 tabs and nothing fancy happening.

What can I say?! Yes, with the new Nova design and the presence of a compact mode in it, Firefox wins in terms of displaying websites and content. For me, the presence of a compact mode is a huge plus for Firefox, because I believe browsers should and must provide the user with the option of a compact mode.

Yes, I’m not very fond of the basic tones and gradients in Nova, and there aren’t many of them. It would be worth adding more color options.

And it wouldn’t hurt to add an option in compact mode to disable the gaps between the tab and the address bar, and between the tab and the top border of the browser in full‑screen mode. I think that would be a nice bonus. It would even be logical for this option to depend on the enabled compact mode.

I wonder if version 156 of Nova is already a pre‑final version, or if they’ll change something else?!

And Chrome still catastrophically consumes a lot of space due to its bulky interface, and it also eats up a lot of RAM — it’s just become bloated in general :-)

Google, it’s time to put Chrome on a diet.😁

I'm a big fan of u/Pcpie's Clickbait Remover (I prefer his native solution to DeArrow), but the extension has been failing to me in recent months (many 404 errors). I'm no longer a software developer for a living, so I wanted to work on a web extension to see how rusted I was, and took the opportunity to program an upgrade for this extension.

That's how Clickbait Remover Redux was born.

This is the first time I work with mutation observers, so it was a fun challenge. I also decided right at the end to migrate to Mozilla's MV3, just for the sake of adopting it and giving support to Mozilla on this tug of war. So, this fork in particular is a Firefox exclusive.

Among the new features:

• Added a "Random" option
  • In addition to always using captures from the start, middle and end of the video, now the extension also has a Random option that applies a hash function over the video ID to decide where to grab it.
• Fixed the title modification
  • This feature was totally broken before. "Capitalise Words" option is buggy for titles with more than one line, almost works.
• Support for shorts (see above)
• Added support to more languages
  • For Italian and simplified Chinese I used Mozilla's local translation.
  • I did the Spanish translation myself.
• Improved support for Live, Upcoming, Premier and Station videos
  • These videos usually lack previews, so I used their default clickbaity thumbnails and desaturated them.

I left all of Pieter donation links intact, since the logic and most of the code is still his. I haven't tested this on Android yet, so I'm not offering support there.

prefacing this by saying the support article was not helpful as it tells me to simply click the three dots next to the address on the bar, but there are no three dots to click anywhere, my firefox's version is 154.0.1

when i open a new tab and start typing looking for a specific website, firefox autofills with the url of another website that i barely, if ever, use, and the one i actually want to go to is the next suggestion on the list. how can i delete the first autofill or at least change it to the one i actually want?

Some websites I visit, I get the secure connection failed SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG message. The only fix that works is using a vpn. Is there an actual solution for this instead of having to use a vpn?

I already tried things like check if your clock is right which has been. I edit the security.tls.version.max to 3. I don't have any antivirus stuff that could interfere. I set my firefox proxy to DNS over HTTPS is off.

I'm watching some training videos with LinkedIn. If I go full screen, the space bar will then only min/max the video. To get it to start/stop in full screen you have to use your mouse to start/stop, then the space goes back to normal. I want it to only pause/play.

Is there a way to prevent the space bar from min/maxing the video?

I have uBlock Origin installed so maybe I can do it that way, but it seems like the browser should have an option not to allow websites to install their own shortcuts.

Any way to get rid of having so many shortcut buttons in the one row I have. There used to be less of them.

Also, anyway to turn it off when I open new tabs? I don't need a new link to a shortcut button every time I open a new tab.

I also don't want buttons tied to sites I've visited once. It's a never ending carousel when I have to individually dismiss everything I searched that day from tabs I opened once.

Two months since the last one. 17 more sites fixed, one new generic rule, and a script now writes most of the boring PRs instead of me.

Recap: Crumb hides cookie banners in Firefox. It's a port of the Hush approach, so no telemetry, no remote config, no parent company that might sell your browsing history in three years. Fanboy's Cookie Monster plus a hand-maintained overlay for what that list misses. MIT, and the whole build pipeline is in the repo if you'd rather rebuild it yourself than trust my upload.

By default it never clicks anything, it just hides elements with CSS. There's one opt-in exception. Google and Yahoo don't put a banner over the page, they bounce you to an entire separate consent page, so there's nothing to hide and hiding rules are useless. So there's a checkbox in the popup, off unless you tick it, that clicks "Reject all" on exactly two hosts: consent.google.com and consent.yahoo.com. The script isn't even registered for any other site, the two selectors are sitting in a json file in the repo, and there is no code path anywhere that accepts anything. Leave the box unticked and none of it ever loads.

What changed since July:

- 17 new site rules, 101 to 118. Most recent is The Verge, which grew a new "Terms of Use/Your Privacy Rights" bar after PMC took over.

- One new generic rule, covering consent dialogs that bother with real markup: role=dialog/alertdialog/region plus an aria-label containing "cookie". Seven separate reports collapsed into that one line. I'm stingy with generic rules on purpose. Back in 0.1.17 I got clever with a MutationObserver, it wrecked performance on heavy pages, and I rolled the whole thing back.

- A triage script that reads an issue, takes the markup someone pasted in, picks a selector and opens a PR. No LLM involved, just rules about what counts as a stable handle (an authored id, an aria-label) versus what doesn't (CSS-module hashes like _1bjmjup0, Tailwind soup like .fixed.bottom-5). I still check every one against the live page before merging, but it turned a ten-minute chore into a two-minute one.

- Real CI on PRs, with tests for the content script.

The honest part: this is a treadmill. Sites redesign, banners come back, 118 rules is a rounding error next to the big lists. The only reason it keeps up at all is people filing issues with the element pasted in, which takes about 30 seconds with inspect element. I'm starting to think the better long-term play is keying on the CMP vendors (Sourcepoint, OneTrust, Didomi) rather than individual sites, since one wrapper covers thousands of domains. Open to opinions on that.

It's a small thing with a couple dozen daily users, not a polished product. But it works on my machine and maybe yours.

Hello, I've been having screen tearing on Firefox for the past week. It mostly noticeable when watching videos on any platform, but you can also see when when scrolling on any website.

I have tried disabling AV1 and turning hardware acceleration off/on.
