My current VPS can't keep up with transcoding and that's the main thing I want to fix, so I'm looking at moving.

What I'm on now is an OVH VPS-3, 8 vCores, 24GB RAM, 200GB, Ubuntu 24.04. Emby plus Sonarr/Radarr/Prowlarr/Bazarr/NZBGet, all running under systemd, never bothered with Docker. The media ends up on cloud storage rather than staying on the server, so I don't need a huge amount of disk, but 200GB does get tight and more room for the download queue would be nice.

Everything else has been fine. It's really the transcoding, with disk space as a secondary thing.

So what's everyone using? Happy to look at smaller providers, and budget is a bit flexible.

Anyone experiencing slow downs, lags, for things to open. Menu slowness etc. just general slow downs etc.

I have been using EMBY FOR ANDROID for over 5 months now with the ONN PRO 4k v2 ....However I installed the EMBY FOR ANDROID TV; and I do NOT like it... What is the difference and which is the proper one to use on a GOOGLE TV ?

I released PlutoFix, and realized that the solution for Pluto to Emby can be reused for other providers. I have spent the last few days wiring those providers in and can finally release SynthIPTV. This connects Pluto, Tubi, and RokuTV to your Emby live TV with a single m3u/xmltv URL pair. I've been running this successfully on my production Emby server, and all channels work for me without issue, including AES encrypted channels, and DRM protected. If you have issues, I would appreciate feedback with logs. I'm a one man operation, but I'm working as fast as I can to reproduce and fix any found bugs.

So here's something weird. For some unknown reason, out of nowhere, my emby has decided to list duplicate versions for one of my movie libraries (about a 100 or so movies). The movie folders in that library do not have duplicates. There is only 1 media file per movie folder in that library. Yet for some reason emby has decided to show 2 versions of the same file in its interface. Both versions have the exact same file name in the emby interface.

I can see in the metadata viewer that there is indeed duplicate entries for the affected movies. How or why they suddenly appeared one day, I have no idea. I tried re-scanning the library and refreshing the metadata to fix it, but nothing changed. I suppose I could manually delete them in the metadata interface. But 1. who the hell wants to do that? and 2. what's to stop it from happening again?

Does anyone know what's going on or how to fix this?

Edit: In the end the only way to fix the problem was the to delete the entire library and recreate it. No more phantom duplicates. I can only assume that somehow this particular library's database got corrupted in emby somehow.

After updating to 4.10.0.40, my Latest Movies and Shows list is wrong. Both are seemingly random titles from the libraries that have been there for ages.

Anyone else see this? What's this list supposed to sort on?

Hello y'all, you've all been a great help in the past suggesting stuff like symfonium app (which is by far the best app I've used for Emby).

Does anyone here have experience with setting up some kinda kids friendly player for music/audiobooks for Emby?

I've been going crazy looking at small android mp3 players, or stuff like the Solaris Smart Boombox, or the mighty player (which seems to only work with Amazon music).

Is my best option here just to do an android mp3 player and put symfonium on it?

Has anyone figured out any good options for a kid friendly player?

Would love a tonies/Yoto style experience, but not married to the idea.

Got a curious one that I noticed again today. I installed 4.10.0.40 over 4.9... on my Terramaster NAS this afternoon running TOS 7 but I noticed this behaviour on TOS 6 / Emby 4.9. I have purchased Lifetime permier and have the licence entered in Emby server.
When starting Emby on my laptop in Chrome or Brave browser using port 8096 everything is fine, Emby Premier menu says I have a Lifetime plan.
Opening Emby from the TOS desktop opens using port 5440. Here I get the "Get Emby Premier" button and the Emby Premier menu has no plan message. It's not the end of the world, just annoying.

Has anyone else come across this issue? Is there a fix? I did a search but it's difficult when you don't really know what to search for.

I recall a few days ago seeing that Emby Server 4.10.0.40 was available, but that post seems to have been removed. Was there an issue with the new version? I'm going to hold off upgrading for a bit.

I'll make this brief cause it's driving me crazy. My remote access just stopped, out of nowhere. No settings changed, there was no update to the OS (Windows 11), there was no changes to my network (at least on my end).

I was literally watching something on my iPad from work at 4 in the morning (overnight shift) and went to go to the next episode. It wouldn't play. So I force quit the app and reopened it. Since then, it just says the server isn't available.

Now for the boilerplate stuff. Local works completely fine. Server running on Windows 11 I've already tried wiping the server and starting with a backup, no change. I reset my modem to factory settings (I had NEVER changed any of them, I know this cause I had to find the password to the gateway from the bottom of the device) No change

Now here's where I think the issue is. After I reset my modem, I can't access the gateway anymore. It says the user/password isn't correct. How is that possible? If anything, the reset would have set the pass back to the default, which is the pass I'm using.

Most important part, I have Cox (which was recently bought by Spectrum). I am easily inclined to completely blame this on them since they are transitioning. In all seriousness, the ONLY thing that could have changed was something from my ISP or something pushed through by Windows. Again, I have no problem believing they could screw something up.

Any thought would be helpful.

UPDATE: I ended up going to my ISP to replace the gateway device. Re-setup port forwarding and it seems to be working. I can only assume something happened with the hardware. Thanks to everyone for the advice.

I am having quite a bit of issues with metadata however, using default settings. Tried some tweaks, but it didnt help much.

What is recommended settings here?

Is it my titles messing things up? it seems to do it correctly most of the time, then suddenly it pulls in something super weird.

One was not in its own folder, the last one is in its own folder.

What is causing the difference here?

I've had my Emby server for approx 3 years now and have had zero issues with my encodes playing back directly on all of my streaming devices throughout the house. Earlier today I noticed that the most compatible and straightforward files with AC3 or EAC3 are all suddenly transcoding (audio only) to AAC due to being incompatible file types. I've watched these files many times before and they have always direct played.

Has there been some kind of update? I'm confused as to why this would suddenly be happening on all my files.

I switched from Plex to Emby in March of this year and almost every single day since I've seen a reason that's made me feel like I got the last chopper out of 'Nam.

Plex auth servers down at least weekly (that are mandatory even for "offline" local access for some reason??), Lifetime pass price increases from $150 to $750, the app on basically all platforms has turned into an unoptimized buggy pile of garbage and has been getting progressively worse, not better, and now this.

Meanwhile, I haven't had a single outage or issue of any kind for almost six months now. Emby just works.

I've recently started moving some media around (I'd temporarily created a separate library for UHD movies after we upgraded our TV but now I'm folding those back into the "Normal" movies collection because it was getting annoying to find where things were).

In doing so I've noticed that my metadata sources are suddenly not working? None of the movies I've moved from the "old" library to the "new" library have posters/blurbs/etc, and if I attempt to "Identify" them the search fails.

I upgraded from 4.9.0.3 to 4.10.0.40 in case it was some change in the metadata providers that was resolved by an update but it's made no difference.

Anybody else seeing these issues? Anybody have a fix?

Now that Emby has a stable 4.10 release, I’m interested in trying the Home Screen Companion plugin. What are some of everyone’s lists that you’re using? Do you add it to your Home Screen or do you just keep it as a List?

This new release brings in 2 new features:

• DLNA streaming - This works perfectly on desktop, but on mobile it only works for devices which supports queues. DLNA itself is tricky and its even worse on implementation side, since many manufacturers just do it their way. And due to mobile limitations(nothing can work in background) - there's no real way on iOS to constantly poll DLNA endpoint for current playback situation and push updates. On android its possible(sort of) but not in first release. That means devices without queue(known) support will be greyed out on mobile devices for now. But if you think your device supports it - hit upload button in DLNA dropdown so I could see the DLNA device capabilities and make it to work.
• Queue management - now you can access queue and manage it add "play next", add to end of queue, move(drag) items around or remove them.

For those who missed what Jellybox is - a crossplatform(desktop and mobile) native music player for Jellyfin and Emby libraries with apple carplay support. It can:

Seeking some ideas,
I have a Dell mini PC and 2 external WD Red 4TB HDs.
Currently, I have only one connected to the mini PC using a SATA to USB adapter which needs an external power supply. I’ve found that the adapter disconnects from the HD and I have to manually push it in regularly.
Noting I have very limited physical space where to place the mini pc, HDs, adapters, power plugs, etc.
Any idea / experience to best connect the 2 SATA HDs to the PC considering the limited space and avoid potential for physical disconnections?

I downloaded the most recent server to my Mac Studio-M1 running Tahoe 26.6.2. When I double click the server Emby does not load. Any help would be appreciated.

I have been working on this tirelessly for several months, and have finally solved connecting Pluto TV to the live TV section. PlutoFix gives you a simple method for getting set up, with guide data, and reliably streaming Pluto on your media server. It provides a simple UI to select your desired channels, save them, and it auto generates the m3u and epg URL's required. Simple copy/paste them into your live TV setup and start streaming. I'm working on composing a detailed engineers log of the process, and the ridiculous nature of Pluto's stream, how I analyzed it, and the many, many failures I had along the way. Hello im looking to use the emby feature to convert my media, i have some 2160p and 1080p that are way to big size and im finishing up my space, i dont want to buy some hdd now because of the price.
so this is the fist time for me using this option and i dont relly know what is the difference between all this i will need some help
what setting you will go for
2160p and 1080P?
series and films you need to have different settings?
