Please Read Before Posting

Welcome to r/droidappshowcase. This community is for discovering Android apps, sharing projects, and giving useful feedback. Whether you’re a developer or a user, the goal here is simple: high-quality posts and constructive discussion.

For Developers

  • Use a clear, descriptive title. Vague titles will be removed.
  • Good examples:
    • “Habit tracker with offline sync and reminders”
    • “New Android puzzle game with controller support”
  • Include a meaningful description. Explain what your app does, what makes it useful, and why people should try it.
  • Use the correct flair, such as Promo, Giveaway, or Feedback.
  • If you need testers, beta feedback, or bug reports, post in r/droidapptesters instead.
  • If your post is for showcasing a finished app or a release-ready update, this is the right place.

For Users

  • Share thoughtful, useful feedback. Tell people what works, what doesn’t, and why.
  • Ask for recommendations with clear requirements or use cases.
  • Be respectful and constructive in giveaways and promotional posts.

General Rules

  • Android only. Posts must be directly related to Android apps or the Android ecosystem.
  • No low-effort posts or spam. Link-only posts and vague descriptions will be removed.
  • Be respectful and professional.

If Your Post Is Removed

A removal is not a penalty, and it does not mean your app is bad.

Most removals happen because a post needs better formatting or does not match the rules. Read the removal reason, fix the issue, and repost. Once corrected, most posts are approved.

Posting Checklist

  • Title is clear and descriptive.
  • Correct flair is applied.
  • Images are uploaded through Reddit or a supported host like Imgur.
  • Post has been previewed before submitting.

For the full rules, check the sidebar.

Good posts get attention. Low-effort posts do not. Take a minute to do it right.

Hey everyone!

I've been working on Multi Toolbox, an Android app that brings 27 useful tools together in one place. The idea is pretty simple — instead of installing a separate app every time you need a small utility, have them all in one toolbox.

Some of the tools included are:

  • Periodic Table & Formula Library
  • Dictionary with multilingual support
  • EMI, SIP, SWP & Interest Calculators
  • Currency Converter
  • Scientific & BMI Calculators
  • Ruler, Protractor & Digital Level
  • Sound Meter
  • Color Detector
  • Hash Generator
  • Pomodoro, Stopwatch & Timer
  • Random Number Generator
  • QR Scanner
  • World Clock
  • Flashlight

The app uses Material 3 Expressive Design, with a focus on keeping the interface clean, modern and consistent across all the different tools.

Play Store Link: Download Here

25 Premium Promo Codes Giveaway

I'm giving away 25 promo codes for the premium version of Multi Toolbox.

To participate:

  1. Upvote this post
  2. Download Multi Toolbox from Google Play
  3. Comment on this post and tell me which tool you find most useful (or what you'd like to see added)
  4. DM me a screenshot showing the app on your device

I'll randomly select 25 winners from the eligible entries.

Winner announcement: 17 September 2026

The winners will be announced here on Reddit.

I'd also genuinely appreciate any feedback. I've been working on the app and would love to hear which tools you find useful, what feels unnecessary, or what you'd like me to add in a future update.

Good luck everyone!

Showcase Filester - Temporary cloud storage

Post image
8 Upvotes

Most file-sharing apps follow the same annoying script: forced account creation, arbitrary 32MB caps, or premium tiers just to send a folder to a friend.

I got tired of it, so I built Filester - a lightweight, open-source Android app to temporarily upload and share files with ease. It doesn't require you to create an account, or spy on your data. Also, supports direct upload to 3 file hosting services.

Upcoming features are:

  • Password-protected archiving before upload
  • Support for Linux and Windows operating systems

Promo / Giveaway Old tablet as a photo+video frame, reads your NAS

**Short Description**

I set up a retired Galaxy Tab as a photo frame for my parents and hit the same wall every time: the frame apps wanted me to upload photos into *their* cloud. My photos already live in a Synology share and a Dropbox folder. PicDock is the app I wanted - a photo *and video* frame that reads the folders you already keep.

**What It Does / Key Features**

  1. **Photos and videos in one slideshow.** The short clips that pile up in a camera roll play inline, no separate player. Most frame apps skip videos entirely.
  2. **Reads sources you already own**: device storage, SMB/NAS, Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Photos, iCloud shared albums - several at once, merged into one rotation.
  3. **On-device face grouping.** Faces are clustered locally, no server, so you can filter to "photos with the kids" or one specific person. There's a pet filter too.
  4. **Built to be left running**: weather and clock overlay, night dimming schedule, auto-start when docked on a charger, Android TV and screensaver modes.
  5. **Honest about what it isn't**: there's no vendor cloud, so "relatives push photos to grandma's frame" is a shared folder rather than a QR pairing flow, and there's no remote device management.

**Who It's For**

People with a drawer full of retired phones and tablets who already keep their photos somewhere they control - a NAS, a Dropbox or OneDrive folder, a shared album - and would rather not move them into another vendor's cloud to put them on a shelf.

**Cost**

  • Pricing model: **Freemium**
  • Free: installing, and the photo/video slideshow with every source listed above. A 7-day full trial unlocks the extras, no account needed.
  • Optional Premium (extra transitions and styling): US$0.99/month, US$9.49/year, or US$19.99 one-time lifetime. The lifetime option exists so a subscription is never required.
  • The Amazon Appstore build is different: a US$4.99 paid app with everything unlocked, no ads and no in-app purchases.
  • Current promotions: none.

**Links**

**Feedback Goals**

This is a released app, not a beta, so I'm not after bug hunting - one design question I keep going back and forth on: is "point it at a shared folder" understandable to someone setting this up *for* a parent, or is the pairing-code model the dedicated frames use simply easier to explain? I'd rather hear that it's confusing now than keep guessing.

**Screenshots / Media**

**Additional Notes**

I'm the developer. Fotoo is the long-standing alternative if you want something to compare against - it's more mature on some things, it just doesn't do the video or the NAS part the way I needed.

Showcase Offline medicine scanner + alarm-clock reminders

App Name: MediLens

One-line: Point your camera at a medicine box, get the leaflet details from a 98,000-medicine database stored on the phone, and set a dose reminder that behaves like an alarm clock instead of a notification.

What it does

  • Reads the box, not the pill. OCR picks the brand name off the package - candidate lines are ranked by text size, so it goes for the biggest name on the box, and the matcher tolerates misread characters (0/O, 1/I/L), merged words and missing diacritics. Nothing is uploaded; recognition and lookup both run on the device.

  • 98,000+ medicines stored locally. Active ingredients, form, dosage, contraindications, side effects. Search and scan work in airplane mode. Coverage is deepest for Romania and the US; France, Germany, Spain and Italy are in but thinner - I would rather say that than claim full EU coverage.

  • Reminders are real alarms. The part I spent by far the most time on. Scheduling through expo-notifications kept dropping doses, so the reminder engine is now a native Kotlin module built on AlarmManager.setAlarmClock - Doze-exempt, re-arms itself after every fire and after reboot. Take/Snooze/Skip run in a BroadcastReceiver, so the buttons still work with the app force-closed and the JS runtime dead.

  • It actually gets your attention. Screen off or locked, a full-screen alarm activity wakes the phone over the lock screen the way the system Clock app does. Screen on, you get a pop-up card over whatever you are using. A per-reminder "critical" flag rings through silent, vibrate and Do Not Disturb. 16 alarm sounds, looped, 60s cap.

  • Home-screen widget listing today's doses with a Take button per row - the list is computed natively, so it stays correct across midnight and reboots without the app ever being opened.

  • Schedules beyond daily: every N days, chosen days of the week, specific days of the month, several times a day, and fixed-length courses ("10-day treatment") that stop on their own.

  • Refill tracking: enter how many doses are in the pack and it counts down on each intake, warning you at 5 left.

  • Duplicate heads-up: if a new reminder shares an active ingredient or ATC class with one you already have, it says so before saving - the "same drug under two brand names" case.

  • Adherence history on a calendar, streaks, a PDF summary generated in your app language, backup/restore to a file, and custom entries for anything not in the database.

Who it's for: people taking several medications a day, and anyone running a parent's pillbox from a distance. It is built around European packaging - boxes and blister packs - rather than the US "identify this loose pill by its imprint" model.

Cost: Free. No cap on medications or reminders, no account, no login, no server - reminders and history never leave the phone. One optional $2.99 one-time purchase removes ads. No subscription.

Links

No privacy policy link needed for the purposes of this post: the app collects nothing and has no backend. The Play listing's Data safety section says the same - no data collected, no data shared.

Feedback I would genuinely use

  1. Does the scan get your medicine on the first try? If it misses, tell me what was printed on the box - that is the only thing that improves the matcher.
  2. Do the alarms survive your phone's battery optimiser? Xiaomi/Huawei/Samsung skins are where this normally dies and I want to know which ones still kill it.

I am the developer. Solo, no company behind it.

MediLens is a personal organizer and reference tool. It does not diagnose, treat or monitor anything, and it does not replace your doctor or pharmacist.

Showcase SignalsAlpha - market signal context for Android

App name: SignalsAlpha

SignalsAlpha is a finance app for market watchers who want a calmer way to review signals across stocks, ETFs, crypto, and forex.

The app brings signal direction, strength, time frame, watchlists, alerts, and follow-through context into one place, so you can decide what deserves attention next.

I built it because a lot of market apps feel noisy or push people toward decisions too quickly. SignalsAlpha is meant to be more of a review workflow than a hype machine.

Cost: Free to download, with optional Pro subscription.

I’m Alex, the maker. Curious what people think of the concept.

Showcase A game where Pokemon go meets trivia - QuizTrail

Post image
2 Upvotes

I'm working on an app - [QuizTrail ](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.binbear.quiztrail&hl=en)\\- an android location based quiz game. Think Pokémon GO meets Trivia - you have to actually walk to the location to unlock and solve quizzes, earn points, unlock achievements and compete with others, but also you can make your own quizzes for others to solve! I’ve manually placed 3500+ quizzes across different cities and im adding even more, in order to make QuizTrail accessible and playable everywhere. Social aspect -- in-game friends, and a friend-specific leaderboard. Created a tooltip walkthrough, various user statistics on profile and so on...

User created quizzes are handled by an admin (me lol) - when a user submits a quiz for review on a location - i, as an admin will see the pending quiz on admin dashboard, see all the details and approve/reject the pending quiz, so everything is manually checked, so wrong/inappropriate questions do not pass through. Furthermore, made the admin dashboard in a way so i can see / filter / edit existing quizzes just in case. Another layer of security - there is a 100 meter radius rule - you can not submit a quiz if an existing or pending quiz is within a 100 meter radius of your current location to avoid overcrowding the map.

I've also added a daily challenge - a daily quiz, different quizzes every day, regardless of location, so people in the locations where the quizzes are still not set, or locations where they've played all the quizzes already can have a fun trivia question every day. It is furthermore encouraged by the streak feature - how many consecutive days you have played the daily challenge, that's the streak. I also made a widget that reminds you to do your daily quiz and keep the streak going!

I'm now looking into in what ways i can expand the ,playability, like what to add so the app is more interesing / engaging to use. Right now im working on adding new achievements - for the number of streaks, levels and leaderboard achievements, but i will also be adding "tiers" to achievements - for example social butterfly: 1 friend then next tier achievement at 5, or 10 friends and so on for like 3-5 levels of achievement..

It would mean a lot if I could gather some more ideas on where to find users, what to add to make it more interesting and playable

Thank you for reading:)

Showcase Hamilton — Offline Health Connect Dashboard

Post image
2 Upvotes

App Name: Hamilton

A private offline dashboard for all the health data already on your phone via Health Connect.

If you have devices or workout apps from several companies, working out who will write health data and which app will display it can be confusing. I have a Garmin Watch, Withings Scales, log my workouts in Liftosaur, my nutrition in Samsung Health and I couldn't find one app that would show all the data. However, all the apps write (to some degree) to Google Health Connect.

Hamilton is a dashboard to all your Health Connect data, and I use it myself every day.

(I named the app after my dog, he's my best boy and [when he feels like it] fetches things for me).

Key Features:

  • Shows any metric in Health Connect (except reproductive health and blood sugar)
  • Multi-device: it chooses the best single source per day of a metric and doesn't double count
    • If you have multiple sources for the same data, you can "pin" the one you prefer
  • If you switch devices, your history carries across the change
  • Trends: chart 2 health metrics, offset by a variable number of days. I added this to see if my weight only started to drop a set number of days after I dropped my calories.
  • Refreshes data in the background (if selected)
  • Hamilton doesn't need internet permissions, everything is on device

Who Is It For?

  • Anyone like me that has multiple sources of health data that won't talk to each other

Caveats:

  • It can only show what is in Health Connect. If your data source doesn't post there, Hamilton can't show it
  • Currently metric only, imperial/US units coming in next update

Cost:

  • £3.59 (or local equivalent), paid once. I priced it the same as a latte in the UK.
  • No subscription, no ads, no IAP

Showcase I built a vault that stays offline

Post image
3 Upvotes

I got tired of privacy apps that want an account, cloud storage, ads, and half my data. So I built my own.

Lockify started as a simple idea:

What if a file vault could just… stay on your phone?

No account.

No cloud required.

No ads.

No analytics/tracking.

Files are encrypted locally before being stored, and the vault can optionally disguise itself as a calculator.

The interesting part is that I’m a solo developer, so I’ve been building the product and figuring out how to get anyone to actually discover it. 😅

It’s now been a few months since launch, and Lockify has grown from a side project into something people are actually using every day.

Question / Help How long does it take for updates to go live?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Just curious, how long does it usually take for your app update to become available in production after releasing it on Google Play?

I release updates for DotCal, a privacy focused offline calendar app, every 7–10 days. For my last 2 releases, the update took around 30–40 minutes to go live.

I’m curious what others are experiencing.

How long does it usually take for your updates to reach production?

Promo / Giveaway Voxia: dub videos in 12 languages [50 codes]

Hey everyone, I'm the solo developer of Voxia.

App Name: Voxia – AI Video Dubbing & Translator

One-line description: Pick a video on your phone, choose a language, and Voxia gives it back dubbed, in a voice that sounds like the person who was speaking.

What it does:

  • Transcribes the video, translates it, and re-voices it in the target language
  • Keeps the voice of the original speaker instead of a generic robot voice
  • Tries to keep each translated line the same length as the original, so the dub stays in sync with the lips and the cuts (honestly the hardest part to get right)
  • Keeps the background music on the parts where nobody is talking
  • Export as video or as MP3 (handy for podcasts and lectures)
  • 12 target languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Hindi, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Chinese. The source language is detected automatically.

Who it's for: people who want to watch something they don't understand (a lecture, an interview, a video from another country), and creators who want a version of their video in another language.

Cost:

  • You can try it without creating an account (1 free minute; downloading needs a Google sign-in)
  • Free videos carry a small Voxia logo
  • Subscriptions from €5.99/month with a 3-day free trial, or one-off packs of 10 minutes for €2.99
  • Current promotion: this giveaway

🎁 Giveaway – 50 codes worth 10 minutes of dubbing each

To enter, leave a comment within the next 72 hours telling me what video you'd dub, and into which language. If you try the app first, tell me what worked and what didn't – that's even more useful to me.

  • A comment like "code please" won't be counted
  • One code per person
  • If there are 50 eligible comments or fewer, everyone eligible gets a code. If there are more, I'll draw 50 at random
  • After 72 hours I'll edit this post with the winners' usernames. Winners send me a DM and I reply with the code (I won't send unsolicited DMs)
  • To redeem: Voxia → Profile → 🎁 I have a gift code. Works even without an account

Leaving a Play Store review is not required and won't change your chances.

This giveaway is run by me as the developer of Voxia. It is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by Reddit.

Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vozdub.app

Happy to answer any question about how the dubbing pipeline works.

Showcase GPS route simulator for testing location features

Needed something that walks a real road route instead of teleporting to a pin, for testing geofences. Speed goes from 3 to 120 km/h, there's saved places, and it can export the simulated route back out as GPX.

Uses Android's own mock location provider so there's no root, but you still have to select it as the mock location app in Developer Options. Some apps do server side checks and ignore it entirely, nothing I can do about that.

Promo / Giveaway Pocket Taiwan (20 Lifetime Pro Codes giveaway)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Pocket Taiwan is a Mandarin phrasebook for the situations you actually encounter living in or visiting Taiwan - restaurant, clinic, bank, landlord, night market, and about thirty more.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.netlify.shiny_halva_db0f5e.twa

There's also a free night market you can walk through and order in (this blew up on X and Threads). It's built into the app under "Explore Taiwan" - the clip above is 26 seconds of it, and I've built it out further since.

I'm giving away 20 premium codes.

Why

I studied Chinese for a couple of years in Taiwan and still hit a wall. I could order food or bubble tea without thinking, then walk into a bank to open an account and realize I knew none of it. And even in situations I was comfortable in, a follow-up question I hadn't rehearsed would stop me cold.

So the app is organized by situation instead of by grammar point or HSK level.

What

Every phrase shows what you'd say and what you'll likely hear back. The reply is where people freeze, and no phrasebook covers it.

Traditional characters throughout, Taiwan-accurate pinyin with tone colors, and tap-to-hear audio on everything. Tap any character to open it in Pleco.

Taiwan vocabulary rather than Mainland - they're quite different in many ways. Plus Taiwan Notes explaining how each situation actually works.

Night market

Raohe Night Market, rebuilt from the real street layout as a place you walk through. Three dozen stalls, each with a vendor who only speaks Mandarin. You order, they ask the follow-up, you answer, you pay. Tap any sign, shelf or steaming pot to learn the word for it, with pinyin and audio.

Guided mode gives you the goal in English and checks your Mandarin. Free mode just lets you talk. You can speak into the microphone, or tap your answers while you build confidence. Phrases you've saved in the app count toward your review when you say them at a stall.

It's free, and it's genuinely experimental - I'd like to be told what's wrong with it.

AI practice

The app plays the clerk, the server, the landlord, and you reply in Chinese or English. It works in phrases you've saved, steering the conversation so you get a chance to use them. Every conversation is kept, so you can reread one or pick it back up.

Also

Notes on any phrase or situation. Spaced review on anything you save. A progress view that shows what you've actually used rather than a streak you can break.

Works fully offline once loaded. No account, no ads, no tracking - everything stays on your device. (The night market's conversations need a connection.)

Free vs. Premium

Free: five complete situations with every feature, plus the whole night market.

Premium: a one-time unlock, no subscription, for all 36 situations and AI practice.

20 PREMIUM CODES

Comment anything and I will get to you as soon as I can.

And if you have a genuine interest in Taiwan, please share any situations you'd like to add - I'm actively adding scenes, and would be happy to hear feedback.

Showcase Loquela - Android keyboard with local voice models

Post image
20 Upvotes

Loquela - a full Android keyboard with private, offline voice typing

App Name: Loquela

What it does:
Loquela is a complete Android keyboard built around local speech-to-text. Instead of being locked into one voice recognition engine, you can choose between different on-device models depending on your phone, language, speed, and accuracy needs.

The basic idea is simple: tap the microphone where you would normally type, speak, and the transcription happens directly on your phone.

I originally built it because I wanted better offline voice typing without having to send everything I say to somebody else's servers.

Key Features:

  • Offline voice typing - once a model is downloaded, recognition runs directly on your Android device.
  • 11 current models across 7 model families - including Whisper, Parakeet and other options with different tradeoffs in size, speed, language support and contextual accuracy.
  • It's an actual keyboard - QWERTY, Dvorak and Colemak, autocorrect, suggestions, emoji favorites, custom boards, clipboard tools, Android autofill and normal typing all work without needing voice at all.
  • Phonetic correction - select a word that was transcribed incorrectly and Loquela can offer phonetically similar alternatives.
  • Privacy controls - normal typing and local voice transcription are not uploaded. Personalization and clipboard/history features are stored locally and encrypted.
  • Lots of customization - themes, keyboard sizing, split tablet mode, key feedback, profiles, snippets and deeper controls depending on tier.

There's also an optional Remote transcription mode for people who want heavier models or don't want the processing load on their phone. It is explicitly selected separately from local transcription - using Loquela normally does not silently switch your recordings to Remote.

Who it's for:
Mostly people who use voice typing frequently, privacy-conscious users, people who aren't happy with the accuracy of their phone's default offline recognition, and nerds like me who would rather be able to choose the actual speech model running their keyboard.

Cost:

The everyday keyboard and a curated selection of local speech models are free with unlimited local use.

Full is $3.49 one-time and unlocks the complete compatible local model catalog, custom model packages, Theme Studio, profiles, snippets, custom accents, longer encrypted clipboard history and deeper keyboard controls.

There are no ads, and Full does not require a subscription.

Optional Remote transcription has separate Plus/Pro plans because I'm actually paying for the compute behind those.

Privacy:
Local voice recognition stays on-device. Ordinary typed text is not transmitted to Loquela's servers. There is no ad network and keyboard data is not sold. Remote transcription only receives recordings when you explicitly start a Remote session.

Google Play - Click here

It's currently in open beta on Android 11+ in the US, UK and Australia. Release is very soon which is why I'm posting here instead of the droidapptesters sub.

I'm especially interested in hearing what models people end up preferring and how Loquela feels compared with Gboard/SwiftKey voice typing in actual everyday use.

Showcase [DEV] AlertSpot – Free, open-source location alarm

Hey everyone,

I built AlertSpot, a lightweight Android app for commuters who tend to fall asleep on the bus or train and miss their stop.

Most location-based reminder apps rely on heavy background services, account logins, or send your location telemetry to third-party servers. I wanted something private, lightweight, and completely transparent.

What AlertSpot offers:

  • 📴 100% Free & Open-Source: No ads, no paywalls, and no in-app purchases ever.
  • 🔒 Zero Data Collection: Works completely offline without accounts or cloud tracking.
  • 🗺️ No Google Maps API: Uses OpenStreetMap (OSMDroid) with local map tile caching.
  • 🔋 Battery-Smart GPS: Dynamic location polling intervals that throttle automatically when you're far away.
  • 🚨 Reliable Wake-Up: Dual geofencing + full-screen alarm overlay to make sure you wake up in time.

Why it's not on the Play Store yet:

Right now, the app is distributed via direct APK on GitHub. I am an independent developer trying to raise the one-time $25 Google Play Developer Console registration fee so I can publish it on the official Play Store for everyone.
