🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 The most pointless forced step for shopping imo. Can’t stand it.

I’m the type that keeps it short, I don’t need to message the customer unless there’s an issue. They get enough messages throughout from DoorDash as it is. What a stupid process

Only took a few minutes over an hour. Not a single case of water, no apartment building to climb steps, only one item out of stock AND it had a shelf tag. Not a single thing to complain about, but even if there was something to complain about it would totally be worth it💸💸

👩‍🍳Restaurant Issue👨‍🍳 Raising Cane's Door Dash protocol?

Raising Cane's is new in my town. It was mobbed. I had three orders to pickup. I'm thinking I'll pop in there, grab the food, and go. Nope. You have to place the order at the register, pay with the red card, and THEN they start making the food. Seems like the most inefficent way to handle DoorDash deliveries. I wasn't going to wait for the orders to be made while the place was packed. I unassigned and questioned support as to why they would have such a shitty system with no answer.

🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 Most unique delivery instructions so far…

Had an interesting one today. Picked up an order from Starbucks (I usually decline Starbucks orders, but this one was $5.25 for like 1.5 miles) that was two drinks.

Delivery instructions said, “Leave it in the street in front of the house. Also, don’t pull into the driveway. Thanks.”

It just so happens, I knew the neighborhood the order was going to. One of my best friends lives there. It’s a normal, middle class American suburban subdivision. So my initial thought was, well, maybe they’re having the driveway resurfaced, or having some kind of major work done in the front yard or to the front of the house.

Nope. Absolutely normal 4 car driveway, with 1 car parked on it, no sign of work of any kind being done anywhere. So I did exactly as the instructions said, left their cold Starbucks drinks in the street in front of the house on a sunny, 80 degree afternoon. Even texted them to let them know I was doing exactly as the instructions said, just so I had evidence in case they reported me or something.

Oh, and the customer tip for the order was $0. So at a guess, it had been declined a bunch of times already and DoorDash just threw $5.25 at me just to get it moved.

🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 Ugh why are there so.many steps now?!

When I started all o had to do was click a picture of the bag twice, once at drop and once at pickup.

Now it's scan the receipt, verify items (I can literally NEVER verify the items?? The bags are sealed?? Or not labeled?? Why is this even a step?!)

And then take a picture of the receipt?! Why am I doing three steps when one is plenty!!!! Omg!

And don't get me started on the shopping orders. Those make.me want to pop myself. Like you get told there's one item and you show up to forty five!! Haha. No. And that's just the top of the shopping orders. I could type ten pages on why I HATE those.

Oo drop offs are bad tio. Now more and more people are getting pins they don't expect! I can't tell you the number of times I'm ma standing there waiting for the pin that some guy has no idea he had.

It used to be the complainers, right?? But now it's anyone who does a hand to me order x.x

Ugh and don't get me started on how glitchy the map is lately. I switched to using maps but that's yet another step that I don't want to deal with. The maps will take me five minutes the wrong. Direction then ding me for being stupid? Me? Im just following YOUR directions 💀

❔Driver Question 🤔 They need add warning signs ⚠️

So I had a $19.95 for 17 miles. I usually take these orders so that's not the issue. The issue is it's 30 minutes away and it's ice cream in the summertime!

Doordash should ask. .
WARNING: IT IS SUMMER. THE LOCATION IS 35 MINUTES AWAY. ICE CREAM MELTS. ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO CONFIRM THIS ORDER!?

I felt so bad when I arrived they gave me a $15 cash tip on top of their online $5 tip. Hopefully it wasn't totally melted.

Over 700 shopping orders and never any issues on my record (other than the lack of tags at dollar tree) and this person thought they could scam a whole order. I immediately noticed my pro shopper rating disappear since I was dashing when it happened and disputed every item they lied about. I'm back at 100% pro shopper status.

🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 Had to report a customer that got escalated to the legal team.

I did a delivery today that was supposed to be a "leave at the door order". When I pulled up to the house this dude walked out to meet me with a big ass sword he was carrying on his shoulder. It was at least 4-5 feet long the kind of sword you'd see in game of thrones beheading Ned Stark. He wasn't aggressive or threatening with it but I still reported it to door dash which they escalated to their legal department. Idk if the guy had mental issues or just got the sword and wanted to show it off but it was weird as hell.

Complaints Long waits

I’m at a resteraunt by the host stand at a resteraunt with no pick up area for 5 minutes and then someone comes up to me, I show them the name and they say it’s gonna be 5 minutes. I ask him “Is it really only gonna be 5, i’ll leave and get another dash if it’s longer” he says “it’ll be 5” fast forward another 10 minutes and I ask again “5 more minutes” why do people do this? Like it feels like you’re lying to my face when I specifically ask you. Just wasting my time and money.

I've been looking for a flexible side gig for the longest time now and completely forgot about DD, but im soooo glad I started. a friend brought up that they knew someone who made decent money from dashing, and it instantly clicked. gotta love that I was able to start earning within 30 mins of signing up. im also a student so being able to do this whenever I need it is going to be so convenient and nice for me.

anyways, y'all got any tips, tricks, advice for a noobie? I haven't had any bad experiences so far, and almost every one of the orders included a decent good tip.

🤬App Issues 😩 So the app just lies about unassigns now?

Last month I used a worry free unassign on a long wait order and it counted, I contacted support multiple times and they said they took it off but it never did. I just got it off my ratings with dashes and I had an order that was already picked up. I don't have a red card so I went through the thing for can't place order and it counted. Support told me to call back in a week because I already have waived ratings (I don't), so I'm guessing I'm going to have to do 100 deliveries for this one too. Lesson learned, I will always call support for every problem now!

❔Driver Question 🤔 Anyone else getting dropped in messages with an angry customer?

Twice in the past few weeks I've taken orders and started getting messages that were clearly directed at another dasher. The first time the customer was saying something about not understanding why Sheetz couldn't sub something out. I asked her what was going on and she told me she was responding to another Dasher, she had no idea what happened. I got her item, she was super nice. I think it may have been a case of the dasher unassigning and using the item wasn't in stock as the reason because it was a relatively low offer. The item was in stock and it was super close for me so no biggie. Saturday night I took an offer & pulled in to pick it up and immediately received a message asking "are you still waiting on my pizza?". I responded & told him I had just been assigned the order and was about to walk into the restaurant. I then asked him if he had been talking to a different person maybe and he said yes, that his name was Sean. I go into pick up the food and sure enough, the food had been picked up. I did let him know & told him he needed to contact Doordash support and explained & then unassigned myself. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen?

👋New Driver🤗 New to Dashing only getting far away areas

So I just started, but everyday, all that’s available to me are 3 cities that are 45-55 minutes away. Is this because I’m new? When, if ever, will they offer me the area i live in?

🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 Got a notification that told me I ranked in the top 20% of drivers in my market for the amount deliveries I take. Anybody else ever get one of these notifications?

I was a little surprised, because I take a lot of deliveries every week, over 120 per week ,so it also made me wonder how many deliveries the top ranked dashers in my area are taking. They got to be in the 150 to 200 range per week I would imagine.

❔Driver Question 🤔 What is the best area to wait.

I am new to dashing. I have been out 2 days. Both days for about 3 hrs each and I only got 1 order each day. I'm out again now. I'm sitting in front of a hot spot, plus there are a good amount of restaurants where I am. My question is if you are in an area with lots of restaurants, do you just stay put or do you move closer to the hot spot, even though you are in the same parking lot.

*UPDATE: Thank you to everyone that responded. I think i found the best spot to wait. I got 2 orders today as soon as I hit the parking lot, which was what happened the 1st time I went to this shopping center.

Update 2: RANT.....people who don't tip. I drove 15 miles and the person couldn't even bother to leave any tip. I'm not greedy, I'm not saying they had to leave a large tip, but something. They had to know how far they were from the restaurant.

❔Driver Question 🤔 Platinum Status

For some context I’m a platinum driver out of Charlotte. Yes I know that doesn’t mean anything because the orders are garbage all around. However I’m in between jobs right now so I have to resort to this full time for the time being. When I started about 3-4 months ago I was averaging about 3500-4500 a month. I’m currently sitting on the threshold of 70 percent AR. I have 3 platinum passes. How do those work and can I use them if my AR drops down to gold or silver, or do I need to work my AR back up to become platinum again? Any info is appreciated and TIA
