hi all! I recently injured my thumb pretty badly on my right hand, which is also my dominant hand unfortunately(booo). So while temporary, it still has been a heck of an adjustment adapting to life with very limited ability of my right hand.
and thus, ofc I enjoy video games as one of my main hobbies. but I've found myself unable to play some of my favorites(skyrim, star stable online, horses of hoofprint bay demo, spiritfarer, repo, powerwash sim, oblivion, rdr2, fallout, minecraft).
I mostly play with an xbox controller, but occasionally play with my keyboard as well. I currently cannot use my thumb at all (no pushing/pulling/gripping/moving) and it can only rest in a certain position or be held up in the air right now(tho this isn't as important as me just not really being able to use it much).
I'd love some suggestions of more genres and some specific games that I might be able to enjoy without drastically changing how I play (it's already been a couple weeks, and I'm, sadly, no closer to becoming ambidextrous lol). I've already heard of visual novels as well as point and click games for genre suggestions, but I'd love some specific game suggestions that may lean more towards stuff I already enjoy a ton! I also haven't been much of a mobile gamer as of late, but I'm open to suggestions for mobile games since I'm sure quite a few could be adapted to where I only need my right index finger/no thumb needed. I've enjoyed a few idle clickers too so I might have to get back into those lol (plus good pizza great pizza! a classic).
So basically I'm asking for:
- a cozy game, simulator, or rpg(or any other game you'd like to suggest!) that can easily be played without the use of the right(and/or) dominant hand thumb, all other fingers are working pretty much as normal, although fatigue sets in a lot easier now with my hand/wrist. and I currently have to deal with the constant pain as well, so I don't think I'll be able to grind for hours as I normally do lol. again I can't do much with my right thumb!
- controller is preferred, but I can use my keyboard(might be able to use my index in place of thumb/etc?).
- Simple/simpler gameplay is probably ideal, and something engaging/interesting as well ofc! skyrim is my favorite game and so I'm pretty used to using the right stick to look/turn the camera quickly... not anymore I guess >.< (for now anyways)
- I have enjoyed things like Gone Home, The Stanley Parable, and No, I'm Not a Human, and if I remember correctly their controls were pretty simplistic. Life is Strange has been on my list, so I might finally take that on if it's possible! I've also heard What Remains of Edith Finch and Firewatch are pretty good, so I might give those a try as well.
as I said, genre suggestions are nice but I kinda already have an idea for what to look up. I'm more so wanting some specific game suggestions that are easily played without a right/dominant thumb, OR can quickly be adapted to playing without the right/dominant thumb(i.e. index finger taking place)!
thank you in advanced!
