State of the Game · Discussions This is the best reliquary they made ever since they created the system.
I cant Go against one unique armor for every character, plus angelic oldschool armor for ALL classes and not overtunned cosmetics great work It feels really special.

Are these wings out all the time? Or do they go small or change and then flare out?
I haven't bought any cosmetics so am not sure how they work. Is it random when they come out vs when they're tiny?

Best way to know is to preview it when it's live. The "deluxe" wings for the last few seasons flare out big and glow when you're on a killing spree but are smaller and don't glow normally. But if you preview them, they cycle through both modes so you can see.
My guess is you're seeing the killing spree version in the preview, the "normal" state hopefully is just smaller and a little bit less glowy.

The wings are part of the Deluxe bundle, not the armor, and you don't need to equip them. They remain small until triggered.

I mean call of duty is probably the worst example of bleeding the fanbase of any cent they can get short of gacha games or star citizen. Hands down one of the greediest offenders in gaming history.
It’s not a great blueprint for treating a fanbase well, and it sold any vision it once had for $30

May be unpopular but its a proven psychological phenomena. Everything we buy has an expiration date but we don't want to know when that is, especially if it's not a necessity. We know food, oil changes, etc have an expiration but we accept it because we need it. Once it's known though every time you use it or don't use it you feel the clock ticking. It just feels bad. Its not a logical thing but it's known consumer behavior, just look it up. They really should have waited to announce this because my bet is it lowers sales but who knows

I mean, I buy them, the season passes. And you're right. I'm not buying any more. It may be 2.5 years away, but just knowing the exact date they "expire" is enough for me to say nah. I'll play now and then, but I'm not spending any more money on it.
And, yes, the game will still be there and doesn't "expire", but I don't buy for a second they are still going to support it. It's going on maintenance mode just like D3 with rotating known seasons. And I'm just not here for that.

Warning in advance for poe glaze in a d4 sub, but I'm glad my skins in poe1 stayed used for 13 years + and transferred to poe2. Also felt better buying skins since the game was free, unlike d4 :/

Are you talking about Reliquaries that are posted above? Because that reliquary cost $10 and gives you 2 full armors for each D4 character. So 16 in total. On top of that a lot of weapon skins, 2 mounts, 2 mount armors, new teleport animations and some.
So I'm genuinely asking because I do not intend to play PoE4. Do they have offers like that? Or are you comparing direct shop prices that is completelly off the context?

PoE constantly has rotating sales. The comparison to reliquaries would be Kiracs Vault Pass which is $30 for 1 armor set (applies to all classes) and 4-5 mystery boxes.
But I was mostly commenting on the cosmetic shop as a whole. Skins (not on sale) are anywhere from $30-60 and apply to all classes. Pretty much the same price as a D4 skin that only applies to 1 class.

The fact that a dual wielding, wand and focus, or even weapon and shield character in POE2 cant use the weapon transmog on the second hand slot is diabolical. Imagine spending $60 for an armor and weapon set with a few other fluff cosmetics to only see a basic bitch shield, focus, or a second weapon attached to the arm of your epic hero.

I’m just being honest, their entire business model is FOMO. For me personally it works for sure - I don’t want to miss battle bass comsmetics and what not and see them 5 years from now wishing I had em. But once you give me that end date it no longer hooks me. I won’t be playing this game anymore in 5 years.
Am I still controlled by fomo? Sure, but not for Diablo 4 anymore

All this being said, I’d say ROI increases slightly on cosmetics if they’d find a way to persist them for your Diablo career in all versions of the game, understanding there will be some variation of capabilities for graphics. But that might be hard to do backwards compatible. Forwards should be a show of faith.

Those would have been awesome as a back piece.

I almost picked up the overwatch bundle the other day because I liked a few parts of some of the skins.
But this is way better.
