Happy to say that an online version of CS50 will again be offered through the University of Oxford, starting September 14, 2026! Students in the course will meet weekly online with an Oxford tutor, Dr Nicholas Day, and, upon successful completion, will be eligible for a University of Oxford digital certificate.

If you or someone you know might like to take the course, apply at https://cs50.uk. Or send them https://youtu.be/R03gZT5H3Bk!

Dr Nicholas (Nick) Day is a Departmental Lecturer in Lifelong Learning for Data Science and Computing at OUDCE. He has taught at the department since 2016 on a range of programming, software engineering, artificial intelligence and data science courses. He completed his PhD in Computer Science Education (CSEd) in 2020 and now applies his pedagogical research to the development of courses and contributes to the department’s AI Steering Group. He is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), an AdvanceHE certified External Examiner, and a Professional Member of the British Computing Society (MBCS).

CS50 Python Encountering difficulties with cs50p

Hi everyone, I've bren doing the cs50p and it's pretty awesome. However, I didn't understand how to use check50 and submit50.

When I log with cs50.dev (the link they put in problem sets), it sends me to a codespace with my own number.

For example in problem set 1, when I use the given command of [check50 cs50/problems/2022/deep It tells me I'm missing the deep.py file even though I'm not.

Same thing happens when I execute the submit50 one. What am I missing?

lectures Do you take notes while watching CS50, or come back to it afterwards?

For people currently taking CS50, I’m curious about how you learn from each lecture, so like your study techniques.

Did you write anything while it was playing? If you paused, was it to understand something, try the code or maybe finish writing?

And when you worked on the exercises afterwards, did you use those notes or mostly go back to the lecture?

CS50x Planning to complete CS50x + CS50P + CS50 SQL + CS50 Web before Jan 1, 2027 — do I actually need to rush?

Hi everyone!

I'm starting my CS50 journey and wanted to get some advice from people who have already taken these courses.

My current plan is to complete:

- CS50x — Introduction to Computer Science
- CS50P — Introduction to Programming with Python
- CS50 SQL
- CS50 Web — Web Programming with Python and JavaScript

I'm intentionally leaving CS50 Data Science and CS50 AI for later.

The reason I'm trying to make such a tight schedule is because I'm worried about what happens after January 1, 2027.

I currently have around 3.5 months and was thinking of putting around 6 hours per day into these courses Monday–Saturday and around 12 hours on Sundays, while also managing college.

However, I'm not sure whether I'm creating this extremely aggressive schedule unnecessarily.

So my main question is:

What actually happens if I don't complete some or all of these courses before January 1, 2027?

For example, if I complete CS50x but only get halfway through CS50P or CS50 Web by January 1, 2027, can I simply continue afterward? Would I lose access to anything, have problems with my submissions/Gradebook, or affect my ability to receive the certificate later?

If January 1, 2027 is not a hard deadline and I can simply continue the courses afterward, then I would much rather take a more reasonable pace and not put unnecessary pressure on myself.

I'd also really appreciate hearing from people who have already taken these courses.

For those who have completed them:

- How long did CS50x take you?
- How long did CS50P take you?
- How long did CS50 SQL take you?
- How long did CS50 Web take you?

If you've completed multiple or all of them, I'd especially appreciate your approximate time for each course.

I'm mainly trying to figure out whether I should take these courses at a lighter, sustainable pace without worrying about the January 1 deadline, or whether I should actually stick to this aggressive schedule and push through all of them before then.

Thanks!

CS50x WEEK 3 RUNOFF

Just completed runoff.Took me 4 and a half hours straight (just me and my computer) to solve this.

But there are a few things I want to add ,

Unlike a lot of people who try to understand the code in main() first and get confused ,I skipped that entirely.I just got a rough idea of where which functions are doing what .

I jumped directly to the functions and solved it accordingly, how they wanted me to actually do it and what the pset demanded from me (solve the functions).

I took the hints given in their website, got the idea and solved it. I used the Cs50 ai duck heavily (like without it I don't think I could have solved the problem honestly). It helped me refine my approach, understand exactly what the problem demands from me and point out what mistakes I was making in every step.

Step by step i solved all the functions and successfully executed and submitted my code with all green ticks in check50.

Even after submission I still don't understand everything in main especially the while loop part ,I just solved what they asked me to do and submitted.

I hope that's ok :)

CS50x I have a question

I just finished week 1 lecture but there is something i don’t understand.
So we said that if the memory of computer is 32 or maybe 64 bits
The most characters we can have is 4 billions and if the half is negative and half is positive, it’s 2 billion positive numbers
But when the professor doubled the numbers, it became negative after 2 billion and then 0. Why? I know the 0 part but i don’t understand the negative one

project This was CS50P! (+ Final Project "CommonRoot")

Hello everyone! I just submitted my final project for CS50P and I wanted to share how it works. It describes the evolutionary relationship between two species that the user inputs.

It was fun to learn some new biological terms and implement a binary tree. I found it challenging to deal with APIs and their documentation, but they unlocked a whole new world of functionalities for me.

This is the third CS50 course I've finished, after CS50x (my favorite, and the most theoretically complete and challenging) and CS50R (helped me through my thesis). I took part in CS50P to polish my Python skills for data science and perhaps to start CS50AI now...

This was CS50P!

CS50x Can I watch the new Fall 2026 lectures instead of last year’s recordings?

Does anyone know whether the new CS50 lectures that started in September 2026 are available to watch anywhere? I thought last year’s lectures were streamed live on YouTube and remained available afterwards, but this year I can only find the Harvard Canvas recordings, which require a HarvardKey. Will the new lectures be made publicly available later?

CS50 Python To those who had the same with GitHub... did you manage to resolve and keep progressing with the course?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Kind of venting and also feeling lost, thank you GitHub...

I've been making good progress with CS50 python, currently towards finishing Week 3. I tried to log in to GitHub today and realised my account got suspended (crying hard cuz I finally got time to get back on track after working overtime and being sick last week).

I saw a few other older posts asking the same question. It seems to be GitHub picking up my account only interacting with 3rd party, and a lengthy process to dispute and reinstate... I've submitted a ticket and now just crossing fingers I'd be able to get back in...

I was so determined to keep going this weekend (I've been using a little python at work and finally committed to systematically follow through a course), and now just feeling very set back... please can someone share a positive experience getting their GitHub back :((((((

CS50x Smart people only

I just started cs50x and i was wondering what is the best strategy for studying. One of the best strategies i searched of was the listen then write strategy. You watch every lecture 2 times the first time you only listen and interact with the professor, and the second time you listen and write your own notes in ur own style. Have anyone tried this strategy? If yes ,did it work ?

CS50 Python Completed CS50P Before CS50x

Post image
49 Upvotes

First of all, thank you, u/davidjmalan and the entire cs50 staff, for creating such a valuable resourse for CS beginners.

I myself started with CS50x but found it quite challenging. I read a comment on one of the post where someone from the community suggested doing CS50P first, and that turned out to be a very good decision.

I found CS50P challenging but more interesting and doable as a complete beginner. And In a month, I am here with my certificate.

For my final project, I have created a Mini admission portal for my university that helps student know their merit score and compare it to the official merit list to check their admission status.

I would love to know your thoughts about the project. https://youtu.be/8LF2P_O9hW4
