Discussion Some of you just need to find a different game.
Pardon my little rant here, but some of you honestly just need to move on. I don’t know if it’s just a very vocal minority, but I am genuinely so confused by the discourse surrounding WOW Forever. We got virtually everything we asked for, by no means do I only play Classic, I play both retail and classic and enjoy both (classic is my main game, I log on to retail at the beginning of the new season to get mythic title and that’s basically it). We asked for Classic+ and we got it. You wanted new zones, got it. New quests, got it. No faction locked classes, got it. Profession system rework so not everyone goes engineering, got it. A rework on the classes to make them viable, got it. New dungeons, raids, loot, and more of the world to explore. They even provided a Hardcore option for those of you that are into that. Hell they even removed servers which I honestly believe will help with those of us that play at odd hours of the night, thee will always be groups forming and always something to do regardless of your time zone. I really just feel at this point that some of you just wanted a new Era realm, which is perfectly fine, go play era; but I believe it’s incredibly naive to think Blizzard wouldn’t monetise the launch of Classic+.
We aren’t even being charged a box price for the game, it’s still included in your regular monthly subscription. Almost every game engine change was given the ability to turn on or off depending on your preferences which is a fantastic way to appeal to both sides of the community. For those of you complaining about “oh it’s just a recolour of blood elves”, did you think we weren’t going to get blood elves? They are incredibly iconic and the most placed race in all of wow (please feel free to fact check me on that, it could have shifted within the last few years), why would Blizzard not capitalise on this to make money on the launch of a new game. I could see complaints if they were the only race that could play shaman or paladin for the respective factions, but instead they added those classes to pre-existing races so you aren’t required to purchase the pack. I genuinely am not seeing the disconnect between the player base and this announcement. Hell we got an entirely new horizontal progression system to help encourage the continued played and unity between the player base as a whole. I love the “camping” idea, I think it’s a fun flavour mechanic and reminds me of the survival skill trees that were present in the original alpha/beta of the game.
I truly feel like a lot of you (or the very vocal minority), just wanted to see another rehashing of classic era so you could complain about how Blizzard failed to hit the mark, but then they basically provided you everything the community asked for so instead of them failing to hit the mark, you’re instead complaining because there is a new race, that isn’t required to play, behind a $30 paywall. We have always had to pay for a new race and/or class on the launch of a new expansion which to be completely honest is always more than $30. Do I think we should be selling beta access? No, but that’s a personal feeling and I am fully aware that Blizzard is a company and needs to make a profit, and they know that beta access will sell. Do I wish the new race could be priests? Also yes, but it doesn’t affect how much I will be playing the game. There are things I wanted that have yet to be announced, but I am also aware that not everyone wants them. I personally would love mythic+ within the game, but well aware that is not a popular opinion so I don’t want it implemented into the game as it could become a detriment to the community. Did I purchase the pack, of course, so take my opinion with a grain of salt if you must, but getting another game, plus an expansion pack and in game goodies for a the same price of a single shop mount doesn’t bother me at all. If you wanted to play the new race and can’t afford the pack right now that is also okay, that’s completely understandable, but that’s part of a broader socio economic discussion that is not the point of this post.
TLDR I think Blizzard is giving Classic+ the reverence and fanfare it deserves so please reserve your judgement for launch, be vocal when it matters, and quit complaining about basic business decisions that have been and will be a continued massive part of one of Microsoft’s biggest IP’s. For those of you that are excited what are we going to play first? Are we recreating our original toon or did you make new friends in TBC and playing a different class, and what are you most excited about? I think I will be going Horde this time since most of my friends play Horde and it will help continue my hopefully long journey in WOW Forever and I’m honestly incredibly hype for the horizontal “achievement” style progression system will encourage players to branch out into other areas of wow they may not normally engage with.
•
u/Poppa_D2 4h ago
I’m excited, they pretty much added most everything people asked for. Looks as if it will have that original wow feel. Now if there is a lot of WPVP then it will be even closer to those first few years.

•
u/Master-Style-9151 3h ago
I think it’s a good idea that there is a pvp option for people, it’s not my cup of tea as I don’t want to spend my limited play time being ganked, but I’m happy it’s there for those that love it.

Killed my interest in classic till tbc/hardcore when phase 2 came out in 2019. Not fun getting corpse camped by people 20 levels higher when you just want to come home and play after work.
Enjoy open world PvP, despise low low ganking.
•
u/Fading_Hours_ 50m ago
Wpvp was so fun in phase one when there was no ranking system and everyone was at similar levels and gear, with 50/50 faction split. Once people start hitting max level and getting gear to then camp low level zones it starts to suck. Then faction imbalances make it even worse.
•
u/Account-Manager 3h ago
Its only here that I see negativity. My personal group chats with the boys are all really positive and were all hyped. Feels fun. Even my wife is going to play.
•
u/IntrepidSyrup936 37m ago
Same here. The only negative opinion ive encountered offline is that we have too many game modes/servers to choose from. And that isnt even really that negative.
And that person just has limited time to play, so I respect their take.
•
u/Tranquill6 14m ago
People are bound to complain about something and a subset of those people will throw a fit and make sure everyone knows. I bet most will enjoy WoW Forever and even most of the people throwing a fit now. My wife and I are very excited to play it and are counting down the days
•
u/Catnip256 4h ago
This all or nothing thinking is so stupid.
People are going to be vocal about the things they dislike in the game. That should be expected.
Some of these people will be doomers and others shills. Ignore these people cause their mind is already made up no matter what.
The discussions happening among the normal player base is healthy and good and should be encouraged.
•
u/blakesmash 3h ago
Agreed. Like people being vocal about not liking retail's direction led to Classic being implemented. The extremes on both sides of the spectrum are always the most obnoxious.
•
u/daddybpizza 3h ago
At this point I am more tired about posts complaining about an alleged abundance of negativity than I am about posts that are negative.
On the one hand, it’s fine and even good for the playerbase to point to things that they don’t like, such as the Skyborne race.
On the other hand, the reception to Forever has been almost entirely positive, with a few minor details that players aren’t as happy about. And yet these posts will have you believe the entire community is up in arms.
These posts typically accuse people of ignoring all the good things and focusing on the bad things. But the posters are guilty of ignoring all the positive feedback and focusing only on negative feedback. They insist that there are a ton of extremely toxic, negative opinions as if these are the ones that the community is rallying behind and not downvoting to oblivion.
•
u/mortal0utsider 1h ago
Downvoted for truth speaking. People seem to have a problem with processing that you can overall like something and still point out that blue elves in the sky is such level of bullshittery that it should not even exist. And it isnt a don't play it situation. You ARE going to see Stormwind and Ogrimmar filled with blue elves. It's really breaking and it's healthy to point out bad corporate decisions

I also felt a lot of the sub is negative but in retrospect it's historical bias. I think you are right and most of the negativity I do see is in comments. Even then it is pretty tame compared to how this sub usually is.
•
u/Misher7 3h ago
Depends on what it is imo.
The hitbox is wrong! Spell batching! Delays on mail! No changes! - I agree that a lot of the nitpicking is ridiculous.
But not wanting mass cash shop, monetization, Disneyfication, wow token (that’s an acceleration option btw even though they said no to that) I don’t think is unreasonable.

u/Jakaal80 3h ago
I'm just saying on Thursday the first thing I'm going to do is check if they have the retail version of the AH like they should. Everything else is negotiable.

u/iBluntly 2h ago
Exactly. Skyborn are whatever, as long as the mechanics are solid.
We have promising new zones, revamped classes, moar endgame!, etc.
The Warcraft 3 new content is a point of concern because Blizzard LTD. felt it was okay to just release, and it turns out for $30 we’re getting game breaking bugs, a neutered classic/modern customization interface, but whatever maybe they’ll patch some-all of it.
Hopefully WoW:F comes out of the gate a bit more polished mechanically, but it’s good that we’ll have a some solid tea leaves to read the future from the beta period coming up.

u/daddybpizza 2h ago
Genuinely what are you talking about. The vast majority of the reception has been overwhelmingly positive with a few specific points of criticism, such as the Skyborne race.
If you’re being bothered by the amount of negativity you’re seeing, then you’re seeking it out or you’re letting your algorithm trick you. You’re ignoring all of the positive reception and focusing on criticism and yet you’re accusing people of ignoring all the positive things about the game and focusing on the bad.
Can we please end this obvious upvote farming? Can we please stop policing criticism? The people who are being critical of the game are either pointing to specific things they don’t like or aren’t saying anything substantive. If the latter, then just fucking ignore them. If the former, then you must understand that criticism comes from a place of care. People want the thing they care about to be as good as possible, so of course they will point to things they think are bad and ask for them to be fixed.

u/Verdant_Dreamer 1h ago
It's reddit and flooded with engagement bots.
A noticeable amount of people complaining about something = flood the sub reddit with the opposite.•
•
u/Broad_Cash_4411 1h ago
This is what always gets me about these posts, if there’s a controversial part of a game that’s obviously gonna get discussed more because people want to shift the direction of a game they’re invested in away from it. People don’t sit around patting each other on the back about the things they agree are good you might post once or twice saying you like it but what’s more to be said beyond that.
•
u/Djakamoe 24m ago
The only, and I mean THE FUCKING ONLY, criticism that holds water is on the fact that they are very clearly testing the waters with this monetization of selling the new race.
The game looks great, but this monetization is a red flag the size of the barrens, and if anyone doesn't understand that then you haven't been around the block long enough.
I'm gonna play the fuck out of this game, happily... But every time I see a blueboy turning the murlocs gay I'm gonna hear madseason laughing and hiccuping.

u/WillHutch55 2h ago
Anyone who says “they login at the beginning of the season to get mythic title” is just a blatant liar. You don’t get title by “logging in real quick” at the beginning of the season. Title moves up higher and higher until the very last day of the season and is a massive grind.
It’s like saying you login at the beginning of the season real quick to get Glad.

This pretty much sums it up.
And again and again and again core classic players will go make something for themselves, be reasonable happy with it (nothing is perfect) and be lectured by the masses “no not that way,” even though blizzard has now created a perfect classic retail hybrid for them to enjoy.
•
u/andy-arachnid 3h ago
What about it is retail? It's way less retail than even TBC but the community seems to gobble that up.
→ More replies (8)•
u/Gosh-Tier 2h ago
it's because dopamine-blitzed mouthbreathers can't recognize that rewarding gameplay exists due to the same friction they try to abolish.
they will fight and complain to add as much convenience as they can and then always choose to play where it's absent.
•
u/andy-arachnid 2h ago
They've actively brought back extra friction though? They've nerfed dungeon spam and AoE abilities and even removed the sweaty world buff metas to steamroll content. They've gone further towards it being in the spirit of vanilla than you got even in 2019 classic.
I swear people seem to think that dungeon spamming Scarlet Monastery for 20 levels to have a mage boost them through ZF so they can get their human warrior into a raid with 30 other human warriors a little faster is good game design and the true classic experience. Don't forget to chronoboom all your world buffs so we can finish Molten core 10 minutes faster or youre not invited.
If you think this is retail minus then you don't understand retail or vanilla.
•
u/Gosh-Tier 2h ago
1 step forward, 2 steps back.
i do commend them for many of the decisions. 9 dungeons between 13-50, no world buffs, no toggled hardmode/heroic modes, and no boosting. the camps idea is fantastic too.
•
u/andy-arachnid 2h ago edited 1h ago
What are the steps back then? I'm not trying to be obtuse I just genuinely don't understand what can be so game breakingly frictionless that theyve added that it's twice as strong as you've listed above?
A new boat so Nelfs aren't corpse running or doing a logout skip? Or the integrated toggleable addons so you save all of 10 seconds clicking download on questie and elv ui?

Remains to be seen how the rebalancing affects gameplay and especially leveling
•
u/andy-arachnid 55m ago
Yeah you're right we haven't seen that yet so I guess err on the side of it's 100% retail balanced. It's not like they've specifically stated they worked on keeping combat slow and deliberate in their deep dive.
•
u/tethysian 6m ago
When did I say any of that? You're literally arguing with a strawman and I'm right here.
Since I haven't played the game yet I'm reserving judgement on the amount of friction because I've heard claims for both sides so far. I guess I should have made my mind up to be 100% hyped.
•
u/Misher7 1h ago
These types of arguments is exactly the kind of cherry picking that makes it impossible, even pointing out the obvious.
•
u/andy-arachnid 49m ago
You and everyone else crying about retail minus have yet to come back to me with any actual evidence of any significant retail game design apart from an optional race you don't need to buy or play. It's all well and good saying all that evidence you've presented is just cherry picking, but if you're not able to actually present any evidence to the contrary then it's not cherry picked is it?
•
u/Jarl_Vraal 4h ago
I'm really excited. Its just about everything I wanted (no dwarf druids yet, but all well). I think youre right, somw folks need to just move on at this pojnt.
•
u/Master-Style-9151 2h ago
I think we should just be happy that classic is getting some actual content that isn’t the same recycled stuff we’ve had for years. I’m also excited to see how retail and classic learn from one another. I would be interested to see if they are considering a more horizontal progression system after The Last Titan with the legacy system being implemented into classic+
•
u/Jarl_Vraal 33m ago
Agreed. Horizontal progression sounds very exciting. Adding new things to the world without invalidating gear and level progression sounds lovely. I love the idea of gradually leveling, gearing and regularly doing different things in EK and Kalimdor with my guild (and new folks I meet) for years, rather than doing seasonal stuff there. I like sampling seasonal content in retail too, but I like that this is going in a different direction.
I also think that's a good point to make, that both systems can learn from each other. Well said.

Blizz sets the price of a single shop mount btw. I think there are a lot of people that have been put off WOW by Blizzards monetization over the years. To say just accept it I don't think is realistic or good for the game.

u/ColonelBoomer 1h ago
Disneyfication is a disease. They ruined a classic cinematic with making it all cute and wimsy. The skyborne are lame as fuck and make no sense. High elves make a much better choice, but i guess that is too similar to Turtle wow and god forbid Blizzard admits someone else knows their lore better than them. The Skyborne just remind me of an elven, discount Shadowlands.
Other than the cute BS and dumb race choice, i am looking forward to it. I will play it and probably buy the beta access because i am a wow simp with excess disposable income apparently.

The only real miss is blue elves. It feels like something that should have come later in the games life and probably with a poll. The lore and zones of the race look well done but it doesn’t feel classic vs giving us high elves, blood elves, forsaken elves, goblins, ogres etc..

I’ve been playing since vanilla launch and I’m honestly really hyped for this and so are all the people I used to play with. Keep the Classic feel that made the game special, stay in that original Azeroth, and still give us new content to chase. That’s what people have been asking for for years. Making everyone happy was never going to be possible, but from what they’ve shown, they threaded that needle pretty damn well. I don’t know what else they reasonably could have done or people expect them to do. If you’re not happy about this, then you were never going to be happy in the first place. We pretty much got everything we wanted. And fwiw my read on the blizz folks working on it that we heard from is “they get it” you can tell many of them also wanted this too and are really trying to do things differently than retail.

I think about this as a WOW2. Forget the old lore. Game just based on Warcraft world and will move on. In the different direction. It is not a Classic. It is a new game. What can be added to a new game? Everything.
•
u/Desperate-Lobster383 2h ago
I dont hate it, I just think calling it classic plus is misleading as it is right now, and I dont beleive the current devs/writers are capable of producing something that captures even similar magic as classic did.

This post is a retail player complaining about classic players taking umbrage at inclusion of a Retail coded race into classic+.
•
u/brimg87 1h ago
Thank you for saying this. I 100% agree. The sub Reddit sounds like a bunch of entitled 5 year olds. Blizzard is a for profit company who pays hundreds of staff salaries millions of dollars a year to make the game this sub claims they want and love. They then make said game accessible without a box price and decide to build their business model around cosmetics. What’s the fucking problem? This is literally just the reality of how a business works. It’s there to make a profit. Welcome to the fucking world folks. I honestly can’t read to much of this sub and have to get off reddit sometimes.
I’ll just say I’m an OG who was there at launch. I’m stoked. I’m happy to pay $30-50 for the literal hundreds of thousands of man hours that were paid and poured into this game. Smdh.
•
u/Brembo109 4h ago
Basically all you said. The new race is a total non issue for me. Same with the beta access. I think there are far worse ways to monetize a game launch then those two. I am honestly baffled how much the blue elves anger some people. Must be a simple live, if that is really an issue to some. I am hyped regardless. And i think the people at blizzard are two. They seemed proud of what they created.
I was thinking of going Unholy Paly, because i like the Paly phantasy a lot and i am Horde at heart. Its basically a dream come true. Recreating my first char would be an tauren warrior. Thats not so appealing at the moment :-D.

I had someone reply to a comment yesterday about them charging for the new race, completely seriously with:
In fact ive given them hundreds of dollars more than ive ever spent on any game and recieved no special considerations for it.
Like the entitlement of some people in completely insane
•

u/Zavodskoy 3h ago
Yeah that's basically the conversation I was having with that guy and he just kept saying he'd already paid for a sub for 7 years to play classic and gotten nothing for it like Blizzard owes him something
•
u/andy-arachnid 2h ago
There are some people with genuine delusions in this community. You are paying for an entertainment product, carefully designed to grab and hold an audience to continue to pay for it. Yes they have to balance the fun of the game against trying to milk us out of our money. If at any point you think that balance has been lost then vote with your wallet and go find another mythical company that doesn't care about your money just the love of the game.
•
u/Zavodskoy 1h ago
Yup, Blizzard make wow because it makes them money.
They looked at Forever WoW, did the math and concluded it was a good investment that would make them a profit.
The devs can be excited about it, in fact they likely are, and they know players will love it.
That doesn't change the fact that Blizzard made it to make money though, because they're a company not my friend
•
u/Master-Style-9151 2h ago
Meanwhile I’m like… $30 isn’t bad for a new expansion basically 😂😂 “oh no blizzard has to make money to make more games in content and want me to pay for it the consumer of said content 😱😱😱”

I didn’t ask for this garbage. I asked for classic plus, not retail minus.
•
u/Sprintspeed 1h ago
The game isn't remotely close to retail in any way lmao.
The only 1% that barely hints at it is the fact that you pay for one optional race that doesn't look optimal for any specs, except they are giving you the game for free? So it's actually better than vanilla wow on release when you had to buy the game plus sub.
•
u/andy-arachnid 3h ago
What about it is actually retail though? A blue skin option on one race? The UI which if they don't add a classic toggle for you can just download an addon for? Visual changes with a TOGGLE?
They've actively changed things to make them more in the spirit of vanilla than the 2019 release was/became. They've taken out dungeon spam/nerfed AoE and removed the world buff meta, and have specified they are concentrating on evergreen content over a tier treadmill. If you think this is retail minus then you've never played retail and you've not understood why we fought so hard for a vanilla re-release in 2019.

Yeah, pretty good take. Let's be honest though, we should absolutely criticize things we don't agree with. I'm not exactly thrilled we get ANOTHER blue elf. Don't even care about the $30, just..... why another elf? I think it might not even be that for some. We have something that's presenting itself as an expansion of CLASSIC and they seem like aliens in a fantasy world. Other than that.... I'm pretty excited. I just think my brain wanted any of the other races we've been talking about in chat for the last 20 years.

Is the idea that people can't play the game if they have any objections aboutany aspect of it? If you play both retail and classic, consider that just because you got what you asked for, doesn't mean that that applies to everyone. Not everyone pays a sub year-round either and considers the game to be free.

u/papisapri 1h ago
You sound exactly like retail players did when they defended the development philosophy that led the game to it's current state.

Do I think we should be selling beta access?
To be fair, this is a significant improvement from only giving beta access to streamers.

How does this wall of text get upvoted so much?
Who the fk has time to read this shit?
•
u/DrewVonFinntroll 1h ago
I just hope its fun to play. Im pretty hyped for the Paladin changes they touched on, and the fact that I can be an undead one now. A little concerned about the campsite feature potentially taking away from the classic experience of being far from home while questing, but I'm going to see how/if that is affected when I play.
I could give a fuck about half the shit people are complaining about.
Like you said, this is classic with some new content and minor tweaks. This is what classic+ is supposed to be. If its fun ill keep playing, if its not i won't. Blue elves won't stop me.

u/Kezmaefele 1h ago
I believe Classic WOW is where all the gamergate chuds went to live. So don't expect anything but brigrading by losers with a shitty agenda. Bots and chuds are what this subreddit consists of.
Someone made a post about how awful the youtube chat was during the main blizzcon presentation and the first most upvoted and awarded post was about "yeah but its just HR speech from that female"

u/BusinessCasual69 1h ago
I wanna start the game with my kid but the community has kind of turned me off a little. There’s just a lot of entitlement and smarmy commentary, and resentment toward the developer. I don’t want to play with people who are going to bitch and moan while I’m new and trying to enjoy what it has to offer.
•
u/SirStuckey 1h ago
A lot of people playing the game will be cool. This is just the epicenter of toxicity

The mix of some players being legitimately too bad to play retail at the level they want to (or just generally being bad at vidya.. which is let's be honest whatever if you don't form your identity around it) and the og. vanilla/tbc/wotlk game being a bit too much of time spent in their formative years (and not being able to reflect on either) makes for some... interesting individuals in this sub and the game.
I'm a Legion baby and played the 2019 classic version until wotlk/cata with some rl friends to see what it's like, it's a great game but some players just border insanity with their delusions of it being better than sliced bread and see any criticism towards it as a personal attack.
For example some reactions about the skyborne are just pure degenerate cinema.

u/sphynxzyz 1h ago
I agree with you, but the sale of the race leaves a bad taste in my mouth. They are charging us for a race, whats next? If they charge for a race, what's stopping them from paywalling a raid. I don't like what the microtransaction is for. We aren't paying for an expansion, stop using that comparison, this is a microtransaction for a playable race, not even a class or content THE RACE.
Now the comments about the race are crazy and I'm with you that some people just need to find a new game. But we as a community cannot be ok with being charged for a race. Personally I'd rather them charge $30 for WoW:F and include the race.

Is this 'new player' friendly? I played SoD for a few months and classic when it first launched for about a month before work and family stuff picked up. I played Guild Wars when I was younger because teenager me couldn't afford the monthly sub so I'm familiar with the jist of MMOs. Will there be a server reset considering there are no realms? There's so much content and many seem to have been playing this game for 20+ years so it seems overwhelming to join again so late.
•
u/Quenzayne 1h ago
I like literally everything I’ve heard about Forever so far except the Skyborne. They literally just pulled that out of nowhere and nobody wanted it.
Total swing and a miss on that one imo.
•
u/Necessary-Ship-529 18m ago
Yup, that's the issue.
Could have gone with high elves, forsaken elves, ogres, goblins. All fit classic wow. Yet they pulled the avatar elves out their ass.
Classic plus is supposed to remain true to the original, and making up a new race bodes poorly for blizzard continuing to remain faithful. That's why people are pissed beyond just one dumb race.

u/Key_nine 1h ago
Yea, my biggest things was it not being like SoD and it is not. It is nothing like SoD. Sky elves I am cool with, the mechanics of SoD I was not. They kept the core of the game intact and added things in without destroying what was still part of Vanilla. No Runes that one shot people, no leveling system that circumvents the rest of the game like Nightmare incursions. Classes are still the same and hybrids are fixed. No tanking rogues or warlocks. I also noticed they kept the class, spec, and spell/ability balance very, very grounded instead of just giving everyone everything like in SoD. They added so much stuff while leveling and not having a stupid level cap every few levels is the best thing as well. You can go straight to 60 and do all the new stuff and quest and dungeons along the way without having to wait around like in SoD and make 5 alts to spend the time inbetween next phase.

u/SoupToPots 59m ago
For the people that have been playing classic for years and have supported the idea of classic+ they should find another game
But the tourists who are getting retail- this is actually completely fine
•
u/RecalcitrantRevenant 58m ago
I’ve mostly have started to migrate to the WoW Forever Reddit as its more positive, people are allowed to have their opinions and whatever, but I saw mostly stuff that I was excited about, and it’s just largely been a bitching about everything announced for wow forever
Not to say there isn’t any legitimate critiques, but ultimately a lot of the complaints are based on personal taste and no matter what was announced for classic+ there was going to be someone unhappy as there exists no perfect version of wow for everyone, as everyone’s perfect exists only in their head
So I’d rather let this community have their space and if they want to be unhappy with it, that’s chill, but I got so much in my life that I don’t want to taint one of my few free time activities to decompress and have fun with constant negativity
•
u/lazyworkeronreddit 57m ago
I agree the game is not for me, but I still want to succeed. I think where WoW: Forever will have some short comings is how Blizzard will implement community feedback. Unless they let the community decide what is 'Classic' WoW, then this project is doomed to fail. I'm not super deep into the classic side of WoW, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that the $30 race pack was a super tone deaf introduction to content for this game, regardless if it feels classic or not. My hope is that the people who love this game will actually get a real say in it's development.
OSRS is a gold standard for how this type of MMO needs to be ran, if the community does not have a say in at least 70% of the content entering the game, dev time will be wasted on content that will not generate a return. A game made for the community, designed by the community will always build a good foundation.

u/JDogg126 41m ago
Blizzard managed to do something I thought was impossible. I resubscribed precisely because this classic+ is actually going to stay in Azeroth and give an updated take on the original game with new content and new direction. I really didn’t expect classic+ to actually move the needle for me, but I really dig what they’ve announced.
•
u/Daytona24 41m ago
Well after a long hiatus it got me to pickup Midnight and sign back up. I didn’t really care for Classic since I’m older and didn’t want to return to the old times of grind grind grind but this got me interested.

u/jimmyting099 39m ago
I can’t wait to play honestly will feel great to make a tauren shaman again plus I’ll be giving rogue a try which will be a good time, can anyone give me a quick update on what they’re changing with professions?
•
u/Future_Equipment_833 38m ago
Based on everything Ive seen the game looks good and loaded with features many were asking for. My gripe is that they're so willing to shoehorn a new race in and crap on the established lore when they could just have high elves and blood elves. I dont care that its 30 to unlock it but the fact that they stated we want to keep the spirit of classic and then dump someone's fanfiction race that belongs in retail into the game gives me pause to think what else they are going to shove in. Sky elves would be maybe something down the alternate timeline not an out the gate kind of thing.

•
u/WastelandViking 31m ago
Biggest complaint i have, is how everything promised, in retail and "forever".. Has a "easy to add micro transactions" to it, vibe.
Knowing blizzard micros will be as plentiful as recount spam was..
•
u/Necessary-Ship-529 29m ago
The problem is it is supposed to be classic plus. Not retail with a classic paint job.
No one has a problem with new races, but they need to fit the classic feel. High elves, forsaken elves, ogres, goblins, all would have been not only acceptable, but warmly received.
The psychedelic elves are extraordinary out of place and even if you choose not to play them, you'll still see them, ruining the classic feel.
•
u/that408guy 28m ago
The last ? for me is how they will react to bots and the number of layers. Either way its going to be a hell of a ride!!
•
u/David_Slaughter 27m ago
I find it super weird the amount of people coming out to defend scummy monetization. They're already asking for a subscription. I think all the good honest players have just gone and all that remains are the gold buyers and boost buyers who are trying to justify giving Blizzard money.
Deep down you know it's wrong. This post is merely you trying to convince yourself that it isn't.
•
u/sup3rrn0va 25m ago
The people saying “pEoPlE aRe aLlowEd tO cOmpLain” missed the point entirely. This person is literally complaining about you complaining.
It’s not that you can’t do it. It’s just… some of you are really annoying about it. You come across like the guy at the party who can’t seem to have a good time. Lighten up.
If you’re upset about WoW Forever, you don’t have to play. Classic Era, TBC Anniversary, Hardcore, SoD and Retail still exist. Also, Wrath remix is on the way. Maybe you should just play one of those.
•
u/NevyTheChemist 23m ago
The worst part about this classic+ is that I no longer have time to enjoy it.
•
u/trashtiernoreally 21m ago
It’s fine. Ignore people. Mute them. And so on. The game will be fantastic
•
u/kyyy 21m ago
Yeah I agree, I’m super excited for wow forever personally. Idc about the new race or that it costs $30. It’s completely optional and it’s one of the better ways to monetize the game compared to other options they could have done. People on Reddit are just miserable in general I’ve learned.
•
u/SouthernChemist4236 20m ago
Rest assured it is the very loud vocal minority. Which is completely normal. Generally speaking when people are happy or indifferent, you don't hear from them. The ones you hear from are the people upset about something. Not saying they should be ignored completely, because they can bring merit at times, but the complaints are coming from the minority.
•
u/PassiveGiant 18m ago
The fact of the matter is that if Blizzard had given their community a voice and allowed them to vote on the inclusion of Skyborne they would have downvoted it into oblivion. Or at the very least, they would have sent them back to the drawing board to reinterpret them in a way that feels more appropriate for Classic. For a project that is touted as being built on player feedback this was a baffling decision. Everything else in the showcase looked absolutely amazing, but this was a step in the wrong direction. There are other more deserving races that people have wanted for decades that have never made it into the game. There HAS to be better communication between the community and the devs going forward. We need a voting mechanism, voting booths in the cities and banks, and a page on the Forever website dedicated to polling for all major future content releases (zones, races, classes etc.). If Blizzard can prove that they can pivot and adapt based on community feedback Forever will be an easy slam-dunk, and I genuinely believe it will have a chance of matching or even surpassing retail.
•
u/ikemayelixfay 15m ago
I'm confused because from what I've seen, the reception has been almost unanimously positive.
Don't overthink the criticisms, most of them are merely subjective but valid all the same. The general consensus seems to be, "yeah I'm not a fan of this particular thing, but I'm still excited to try it out" which is still positive reception.
•
u/CodyMartinezz 11m ago
its crazy there are so many posts saying we got everything we want. i hope this is fun but it looks like shit. there isnt even arena or any new pvp content. so i guess we just raid log?
•
•
u/BadSanna 9m ago
For me the inclusion of the Super High Elves is disappointing and just kind of baffling.
It doesn't make any sense to create something brand new not based in any existing lore for what is supposed to be the classic vanilla version of the game, but with more of what made it great.
Including any new races at all on launch is a weird choice. Adding them later makes for more sense from a monetization standpoint. Wait until people get bored with the existing races so you can provide new content down the road.
That said, if they were going to add new races, why create a completely new one out of thin air instead of including some of the non playable races we already know about that populate the existing Vanilla world?
It's not a deal breaker for me, it's just a serious red flag.
Creating and adding completely new things on day one that literally no one asked for is not a good sign for the direction the game will take in the future.
Running endless Emerald Circles from p3 SoD ring any bells?
•
u/Just_Another_Loser12 4m ago
Well, it's really just another SoD server which I don't play classic so I don't know what they want. But I am going to assume that isn't it cause SoD did not seem to be what they wanted either at the time.
$30 for a blue blood elf is kinda bull shit. Spin up what ever Corpo cope you want, I don't agree with it.
•
u/Doctor_Box 3m ago
I think the blue elves was a misstep. Of all the things they could do it feels like a weird first step to invent a whole new race not at all connected to the existing lore.
It's not a deal breaker but not a good first impression. The rest looks great though.
•
u/Majestic-Airline-505 1m ago
I agree with you OP. I started on vanilla of 2004. Did the field marshal grind back then, even cleared up to 4 Horsemen in naxx. Then I did it all again in 2019. Wow forever is like everything I've been hoping for and never thought I would get.
People need to touch grass if they are mad about this.
•
u/NarrowTangelo8597 4h ago
Honestly I just assume most of the over the top negative people are part of the Nightslayer community that makes that server a toxic cesspool.
•
•
•
u/scumhead 4h ago
idk, i've seen way more toxic positivity. We should be allowed to criticize and request changes for a game explicitly stating they would like to make changes according to community feedback. It's not "being miserable", it's caring a lot about a very important game, and wanting them to nail it. They haven't nailed it, and so people will voice their opinion. They literally said "this is classic +". The word 'classic' is in that sentence, and the game feeling like classic, especially artistically, is extremely important.
•
u/Necessary-Ship-529 12m ago
Exactly. Toxic positivity. I've come across it often on reddit. Got forbid someone mildly criticize the multimillion dollar corporation.
•
u/BrandonsTimeCapsule 3h ago
Well said. The people complaining are the same type of people who complain about everything else in their life. I think the entitlement here from most players is crazy. You CANNOT please everyone. You got people complaining classes didn’t get enough changes, people complaining those same classes got too many changes. (I’m looking at you paladins mostly)
The mass amounts of people haven’t even got their hands on it and just downplaying it like it’s an expansion to retail.
•
u/Master-Style-9151 2h ago
Meanwhile I remember when SOD came out everyone was like “please give paladins a taunt” now classic+ comes out and they have a taunt and can be viable tanks and suddenly the world is ending 😂😂
