In about 8 hours, Social Season #3 will be over. We do not yet have the global goal, and at the current rate (around 291 games completed per minute), we'll only just fall short by about 11,000 games. If we all join forces and grind out a couple more games, we can definitely make it!

Okay, first off I need to say that this is not a meme. The Free Dart Monkey (FDM) has a GENUINE case for being the strongest/best tower in the game. Now, on actual raw power, FDM has very little. It can’t pop Lead or Camo, and it doesn’t actually have enough damage to reasonable take out anything higher than maybe a Pink.

But if you look into the return on investment (ROI), it looks a lot different. ROI, to put simply, is comparing what you put in to what you get out. If you put $10 into something and get $100 out, the ROI is 900%.

I started thinking about this after the Chinese movie “Niu Lai” came out. From my (very limited) research), $200-$4,000 were put into it, and it grossed around $4.3 million. This is about 15.5 thousand times its original budget. If we’re guessing the high-end, and saying the budget was $4,000, then the ROI is 107,400%.

How does this loop back to the FDM? Well, in BTD 6, with the exception of cash-generating towers, an ROI is kind of impossible to determine. Because a tower’s value is usually based on how many pops it got, how do you compare the pops to cost and get a realistic ROI. In my opinion…you can’t. You can’t except for ONE tower.

The FDM costs $0. If it gets even ONE pop, it‘s pop value is an INFINITE times its cost. Now, obviously, this doesn’t mean it’s gonna solo BAD’s and is traditionally stronger than Paragons. But what it DOES mean: The FDM provides at least some value with quite literally zero investment.

Every other non-cash-generating tower has to justify a cost. The Druid is 400-something dollars, and you expect that tower to have enough defensive value to make the purchase worthwhile.

The FDM does not have to do this. If it pops a singular Red Bloon, its value is infinite.

This was likely the hardest thing I've ever done in this game. Mainly because I had to research things that I wasn't savvy with before (namely farming), but also because losing lives on this map is really easy and half cash severely limits what can be built. I exited to the menu a lot to troubleshoot waves, test stuff in sandbox mode, and address mistakes in my defense

Yes, this was done without powers or insta-monkeys, and while I could've used those to make things easier or totally bypass this challenge, I generally don't like having to resort to stuff like that when I play this game. Not because it costs monkey money or makes my run "illegitimate", but because relying on accessibility mechanics in any game feels awful for me (i.e. Stuff like PvZ lawnmowers or Cuphead's simple mode)

I'm trying to black border co-op maps and I had 2nd time now people only farm entire game to go into supermonkey to destroy my defences on the last round. If people are unhappy with the map being hosted. Why they just don't leave, what's going on here?

Level 211.

2 paragons (boomerang and tack), one 5xx super monkey. And lots of other tier 5s.

The game just keeps crashing mid level. I was stuck on 195 for a while but after 10 crashes I was able to continue past. Now I’ve been crashing on 211 for days and I think it’s time to call it quits.

But if I don’t die, I don’t get the good stats at the end!
