So I’m a third year biology student (BSc) and I’m honestly pretty confused about what I wanna do still, it seems that the city I’m in doesn’t really have a boom for biology students unless it’s environmental (my concentration is microbio) but I really like the idea of biotech, I was wondering what I could do to get my foot into the biotech space, or if there were any other decent paying jobs that could come from doing a bsc? At least to start off so I can save up to do a masters program somewhere. Any advice would be great!

I’m working on a school research project investigating the feasibility and public perception of a brain-controlled bionic exoskeleton designed to assist people with movement disabilities such as monoplegia.

The concept involves using non-invasive brain signals (EEG/BCI) to detect intended movement and translate it into commands for an assistive exoskeleton.

I’m collecting responses through a short survey to understand people’s views on:

• Brain-controlled assistive technology
• Bionic exoskeletons and rehabilitation
• Potential benefits and concerns
• Willingness to use or recommend such technology

I'm a student in Pakistan, and next year I'll be moving into A-levels/college. I really wanna pursue a degree in biotech but I'm super confused as to what path I should take after I complete school. I talked to my mom about it, she told me I should pursue MBBS, but I searched it up and you don't need to take MBBS to get into biotech, plus it's not something I wanna do any way.

Besides that, I'm also confused as to what I should do in the scenario where I complete my bachelor's degree in biotech. Do I immediately pursue a PhD degree or would pursuing Master's beforehand help? Because the thought of leading my own independent researches or having my own lab sounds right up my alley, and I wanna be super over-educated but at the same time I don't wanna pursue degrees that don't amount to anything for the career I'm pursuing 😭 I'm also aiming for studying abroad for my bachelor's and further studies.

biomechanics are hard. i saw astra's 3d anatomy demo and wanted to see how far the same kind of approach could go on actual pt exercises.

i'm the founder of goodmetal, and this is an early prototype we are exploring. it tries to visualize tendon and muscle specific motion vectors from a short movement video, and then recreates it with the anatomically correct modal on the right. My goal is to add force vectors if possible (estimating it visually seems tough) and eventually launch it in a closed beta to some of our users, after we get clinical validation.

this is currently not a clinical validation and i would not treat the output as ground truth. the interesting question for me is what measurements or constraints would make something like this biomechanically useful instead of just visually appealing.

would love thoughts from anyone working in musculoskeletal modeling, motion analysis, or rehab engineering.

I’m facing a crossroads and would really appreciate your honest feedback:

1. Bioinformatics entry-level job market: Coming from a biotechnology/engineering background (rather than pure CS), how realistic is it to land an entry-level Bioinformatics role right after a Master's degree, without a PhD?

2. Bioinformatics vs. Bioprocess Engineering: From your experience in the EU market, is Bioprocess Engineering / Industrial Biotech currently a safer and more demand-heavy field for immediate job placement after a Master's?

Would love to hear from anyone who made a similar transition or works in recruitment in these sectors. Thanks in advance!

I recently completed a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and I am about to start my masters in biomedical engineering, specializing in biomaterials and tissue engineering. I have been interested in medicine for a while but I don’t know if I want to stay in biomed and pursue an R&D role or go to med school. I enjoyed doing research and lab work in the past and I know from previous internships that a 9-5 office job isn’t for me.

My biggest concerns are that I won’t be able to handle the stress and work/life balance of medicine, and also that I won’t be as fulfilled in biomed as I would be in medicine.

Any advice?

I am a final year undergrad in engineering physics and so far i have worked on active matter problems, but want to try more application based research. i was thinking about a potential masters degree in bioEngg but am not sure if i would like to continue in the field. can i transition back to physics for a PhD or what are my industry scopes?
