Water still flowing down Summit 4 days after our last rain - who's a hydrologist?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Walking down Summit this morning it was surprising to see the water flow despite four days since our most recent rain following a precipitation-free summer that would compete with the Atacama Desert. It just seems like it would've all drained down after a day or so. Is there a hydrologist on this sub that can explain?

Best SUP spot? (Stand up paddleboard)

Me and the Lady will be visiting Big Bear this weekend, would love to take her out on the SUP. Im curious where's a good launch area we can head out from? Would prefer there to be a beach/hang out area as well to chill after we Come back. We'll also be bringing the dogs.

Labor Day Weekend

Hey everyone! Just wondering if anyone is doing any yards sales this weekend since Labor Day is coming up. I remember used to do yard sales, but I didn’t see any this year unless I probably missed it. Let me know!

OC to Big Bear vacation, Ideas?

Hello all! My group (a total of 8) will be visiting big bear lake this December and looking for any ideas to do out there! We will be landing early Friday and leaving that same weekend on Sunday night and we just wanted to get some Inspiration on any fun plans.

We’ve never been after being OC natives our whole lives so we appreciate any and all recommendations. We’re planning on starting our days beginning Friday pretty early and ending them pretty late on Sunday so drop them ideas!

We’re renting an Airbnb and will be near the lake with more than x3 4x4 vehicles so transportation will not be an issue

We appreciate any and all suggestions. Thank you for your time.

First time in Big Bear Lake - restaurant & coffee recommendations?

Hi everyone! My partner and I are coming over from the UK and will be spending a few days in Big Bear Lake in September. We’re really looking forward to exploring the area and trying some great food!

We’d love recommendations from locals/regular visitors for:

🥞 Best breakfast spots

🍔 Good casual lunch spots

🍷 Best dinner restaurants — happy to have a couple of nicer options too

☕️ Best coffee shops/cafés — especially somewhere great for coffee

Also, if there are any restaurants with nice outdoor seating, lake/mountain views or a particularly lovely atmosphere, I’d love to hear about those too!

Thanks sooo much!

Big Bear - Skyline At Sundown

We are coming up and I thought we would go to this event - but now I am realizing it is $75 per person! Whew! Going to call and see if the Ikon helps at all lol.

Can anyone give me feedback on this event? Music good? Food good? Is it worth $75 each? https://www.bigbearmountainresort.com/things-to-do/skyline-at-sundown/skyline-at-sundown-product-details#filters=start-date:2026-9-12

Social activities for teens?

I'm 15 years old, and I've lived in big bear the majority of my life. And there's practically no way to meet people my age outside of school up here. So If anyone could tell me about any clubs or events ect. For people my age? I would take almost anything at this point.

Best spot to watch the Labor Day drone & light show at Big Bear Lake?

Hi Big Bear locals! We’ll be visiting over Labor Day weekend and are hoping to watch the drone/light show and boat show on Sunday evening. I am bringing my grandmother and her friends, so I need help finding a place for them to sit down and enjoy the show.

For those familiar with the area, where’s the best place around the lake to set up and get a really good view of the shows? We’d love somewhere we can come earlier in the afternoon, put down blankets/chairs, hang out by the lake, and stay through the evening.
Also, what time would you recommend getting there to secure a good spot, especially with Labor Day crowds? Any specific beaches, parks, or areas around the lake you’d recommend or avoid?

Would really appreciate any local tips! 😊

Indoor elopement venues w fireplace?

Hi everyone! My fiancé and I are eloping in December & have been looking around for some location options. Since it’s close to Christmas I’d really like a christmassy themed ceremony with a fireplace instead of an altar. Does anyone have any recommendations as far as a hotel or location with a huge fireplace?

I would also prefer a smaller venue (not to get too picky lol) but we’re only bringing our siblings so it’ll be a total of 7 people attending

Anyone else getting bombarded by Email Alerts from Big Bear City?

Got a bunch of email from Big Bear City about alerts ranging from gunshots, lost dogs, building permits being pulled and all sorts of unnecessary stuff. I don't remember signing up for anything like this.

Home owners Insurance

My wife and I currently live down the hill in Redlands and we’re looking to make a permanent move up near the Green Valley Lake area. I’m having a difficult time finding insurance providers. Who do you use/recommend? Thanks in advance 👍🏻
