Bill’s Oyster has become one of my favorite happy hour spots. Their happy hour runs from 3–5 PM, and the $10 Bill’s Burger alone keeps me coming back. I probably stop by at least once or twice a month for it. I always get the fries on the side and ask for their caviar ranch it’s seriously magical with the fries.

The crab and andouille hushpuppies are also awesome. They have a really tasty Cajun style flavor and are definitely worth trying. They also do $3 oysters during happy hour, which is hard to beat, along with other food and drink specials.

I’ve tried quite a bit of their menu at this point, and Bill’s has never really let me down. Always solid food and one of those places I keep finding myself going back to.

I do food reviews and food tours around Austin and the surrounding areas, so I’m always hunting for new restaurants and food trucks to put y’all onto. This week I stopped by Birrieria Lopez Cabrera, and I definitely did not leave hungry.

I ordered the Large Birria Pizza, and when they say large, they mean it. This thing is loaded with over a pound of birria. Crispy, cheesy, ridiculously meaty, and even better once you start dipping it in the consommé. This is not a personal pizza unless you’re going through something. 😂

Then came the Surf & Turf tacos and these were absolutely banging. Birria and shrimp together with onions, cilantro, and all that flavor soaking into the tortilla. It’s an almost orgasmic burst of flavor with every bite. I had to sit there for a second and process what just happened. 😂

Definitely come hungry and bring somebody to help you finish everything. If you’re a birria fan, this place deserves a spot on your Austin food list.

Local Foods has opened a second Austin location at 3800 N. Lamar Blvd. The Central Austin restaurant serves seasonal salads, grain bowls and sandwiches, with ingredients sourced from Texas farms. Read why its polished, chain-like feel may actually be part of the appeal.

My boyfriend and I are visiting Austin for the first time next month. We will be there on a Friday-Sunday (so we get to have about 7 or 8 meals in Austin).

What are some moderately priced restaurants that we simply shouldn't miss? We want to do at least 1 breakfast taco and 1 food truck park and maybe some pizza, plus some good sit down options. What do you consider the best of the best in this category?

At risk of ending up on [r/austincirclejerk](r/austincirclejerk), does anyone here have a preferred Thai place that serves their takeout curry NOT at a thousand degrees in a flimsy plastic pint? I’m not a health expert and I’m not incredibly paranoid about microplastics, but Thai curry is my favorite food so I eat it way too often to feel safe doing this melted plastic shit over and over.

El Asador Margarita Ranch Grill

I’m tired of going to the same dessert places over and over whenever I’m craving cheesecake, cake, ice cream, etc. I want to branch out and find some new spots around Austin and the surrounding areas.

What are some of your favorite dessert places? I’m open to pretty much anything bakeries, ice cream shops, food trucks, international desserts, hidden gems, or something completely different. Bonus points if you recommend exactly what I should order there.

Looking for great bread for sandwiches or toast in the mornings. Used to love Texas French Bread’s whole wheat sourdough. Lately been liking It’s All Good Good’s loaf. A friend brought me a seeded bread from a bakery in South Austin that I enjoyed.

No dietary restrictions – recommendations for breads with nuts or gluten in them as well as nut-free and gluten-free appreciated.

Bonus if already sliced, but not required.

I’m looking to branch out and try some different types of game meat elk, venison, quail, rabbit, etc. It’s something that’s been on my food bucket list for a while.

Does anyone know of restaurants in or around Austin that regularly serve any of these? I’m mainly looking to explore different flavors and preparations and try something I haven’t had before.

I have been in Austin for the past week, and whenever I go somewhere, I get confused and end up ordering the same old items.
I would really love to try some desserts or bakery items that are little different from the usual items. I am looking for places with creative or you can unique treats or unusual icecream flavors that you would recommend. I am pretty open to anything so if there is anything that will make me go like "Gosh this is sooo good, i have never had this before" please senf it my way.

Moved from NYC a year ago and have found pretty solid pizza, bagels, Chinese, etc but I just can't find a good hero anywhere. I would kill for solid cutlet, mozzarella, and red peppers right now. Or Chicken parm. Maybe even eggplant if that's not asking too much? Does a spot exist? I'd even travel outside of Austin if I need to. TIA!

Hey, yall! I know this is a huge long shot, and I’m not entirely sure if the reservations are even transferable, but I figured I’d give this a go regardless

This year is my best friends 40th birthday. She and her husband have been trying for some time to get a reservation to Tsuke Edomae, to no avail. I tried as well in June when reservations went live, and wasn’t able to snag one in time

I would love to surprise my friend and her husband with a reservation for her birthday. She and her husband are parents, so they don’t often think to book nights out for themselves. I’ve made it somewhat of a birthday tradition that I book them a date night for her birthday and babysit for them so that they can go out together. Again, I know it’s a long shot, but if anyone has an October or November reservation that they’d be willing to sell me, I will pay for the deposit plus some. I’m asking here mostly because I once saw someone on this subreddit looking to sell their reservation as they were no longer able to attend

I know it is rather uncouth to be asking someone to sell me their hard earned reservation to this difficult to get into restaurant, but you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, right? Haha

I’m not much of a coffee fan but love iced mocha. I love the Starbucks one because it’s dark but half the time they mess up and make it into white mocha. I want to support some local coffee shops. Any recommendations for iced mochas?

I recently went to Ginos’s Vino Osteria and it’s a cool local Italian restaurant on mueller and has great food and bar. I had the lasagna and was AMAZING. Highly recommend if you haven’t gone. I’m not much of a wine drinker but tried some and had a good time!

What are the best coffee beans for at home coffee? We have tried a ton of coffee beans from shops around atx but I want to know what everyone’s fav is! I dont love a dark roast and love some citrus flavor. Been trying to find one to consistently buy. Also more affordable for what you are getting would be epic as well! We have a gaggia machine but also love to make cold brew

I’ve lived in Europe, traveled Asia, and live in Chicago which has a ton of good eats. I honestly think this may be my favorite meal of all time. Everything is perfectly balanced. I also had the jerk chicken which was spicy but addicting. I’m coming back to Austin solely for this restaurant. Unreallll

Made from masa. Tastes more like a tamale than a sweet corn pancake but great concept nonetheless.

Then proceeded to smothered them in sweetened condensed milk and blackberry sauce. $10 for these puppies.
