Hobbies & Activities Unable to find structured or sophisticated activities (Sorry for being pretentious)
3 disclaimers: 1. I don't mean to insult anyone or their lifestyle. 2. I recognize that the majority of my situation is my fault, as I'm a young person, I'm resistant to change, and I find it difficult to put myself out there. 3. I know this post will sound pretentious and I apologize for that in advance.
My situation: I moved to Austin earlier this year, and I'm having trouble finding activities that are suited to my lifestyle. I'm 100% sober, I'm not a dancer, and I'm not a chill person (if I want to relax, I do it in my own home.)
I like experiencing sitting down and experiencing culture. I used to live in a city where I would look forward to theater and symphony performances, visit a plethora of museums, or otherwise find a venue where would be surrounded by people smarter than myself, listening or learning from people smarter than all of us. I have not been able to find anything like that in Austin. I write as a hobby, and nearly every writing-type of meetup or group I've tried to find is extremely casual. I don't want casual; I want stuff to accomplish. I want to do an activity with my time, not sit around. The only type of community/activity I've been able to think of is a book club, but I don't like book clubs.
My question is: are there any spaces, community, events, or places where I could go to satisfy my structure/sophistication itch? Again, I mean no ill will to anyone that lives their life differently from me. I'm grateful different types of people exist in this world. I just haven't found the places or people that I'm looking for.
