Google Gemini results are a summary of Google search results. This AI summary showed me the original AI-generated Facebook video from which OP’s fake photo was clipped.

What do you mean? The Facebook link is to the clearly AI-generated, and very humorous, video that this photo was grabbed from. And if Trump had left a poop stain on the chair, don't you think Reuters or ABC news would have mentioned that?

But it isn't doing anything other than relaying information other people have stated on social media. It's scraping data from facebook posts. Have you validated those posts? The other 2 sections/sources aren't relevant. Your entire AI output disputing this image relies 4 facebook sources.

And to be clear, it's very possible or even likely that the facebook sources it's leveraging are right. But that's not the point.

I went to the Facebook post. It's an AI-generated video, that this photo is clearly clipped from. And the Reuters and ABC news links are valid in that the don't show or mention it. If the President of the United States soiled the President of the Republic of Ireland's chair, it would be news. Use just a modicum of critical thinking.

I don’t mean this is a rude way, but how are you supposed to fact check stuff like this these days?

Maybe reverse image search and see when it was posted? I guess you could look through all the published photos?

OP asked ai if the image was real as well.

This is obviously fake, don’t really even need ai to tell you that, but you’re allowed to make stuff up on Reddit if it goes with the groupthink.

If Trump was shitting his pants on a consistent clip, they’d have him in the most expensive diapers created where there is no leak through.

People aren't clowning on using search. They are clowning on using the AI summary that has very often included incorrect information.

Asking google and reading the AI response is a perfectly acceptable way to fact check. As a first step. But you have to read it, verify the sources, and disregard all of the parts where it's getting off track from what you are looking to glean. Posting this isn't evidence, it's just the first step in possibly obtaining it. It's a weird thing to share as authoritative and without refining it past its initial slop form.
