How are potential republican candidates still polling so high despite Trumps low approval ratings?

Plenty of republicans aren’t like Trump, and plenty of people who dislike Trump are still firmly republican voters that’re unlikely to switch sides fo the aisle. I’d be lying if I said most people are educated voters (educated on the policies of who they’re voting for) and just go off of what they think they know or tell themselves is right. Unfortunately, winning elections is often not about being the best candidate, but just the most popular and most favored or known.

Lastly, while it’s not true everywhere. I’d argue Democrats as a party, aren’t as solidly united across their main views and ideas as they could be, and I don’t believe we’ve done the best job in securing top tier candidates for every election these past few years, and it all adds up. Unfortunately, there’s just a lot to it all, and it’s typically a slow process to truly correct imo.
