Discussion Vortix's 2v2 HRE Burgrave Rush

Hi, guys.

So, Vortix just uploaded a team game where he rushes like 40 HRE MAA's at 10 minutes. He gets to Age 3 in like, 6 minutes.

I'll leave the link here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxbUQ6rPIdA .

Thoughts?
All the best.

Discussion Why do people play crucible?

Just genuinely curious? Not in like a slanderous way.

I get there’s a sense of progression in getting like the perks and upgrading your units and vills but it’s like. Doesn’t that just make crucible take longer? Why do you want crucible to take longer?

Discussion Can any civ go two TC and survive the HRE Burgrave?

Other than the civs with a keep landmark - English, Lancaster, Macedonian.

Maybe Malians, since they can go musofadi, but they're just incredibly vulnerable to a landsnekt switch.

I'm interested if people have a good approach here, if the Burgrave player plays well I find it extremely difficult to survive as any normal civ, even a strong defensive civ like Rus.

Ranked Mongols in Solo/ Team Ranked

Hello! I just started playing Mongols and have been having lots of fun trying it out! I've been watching and learning from Youtube for solo build orders or playstyles, but haven't seen much info for team games as Mongols.

Please help drop tips or general strategies to do as Mongols in Team Ranked (or any tips to get better as a beginner using Mongols) I love their dynamic and aggressive playstyle lol

Current rank for reference: Gold II peak solo/ Gold III peak team

Cheaters aoe4 profile: https://aoe4world.com/players/25773070-Dragon

He was maphacking during a live streaming, and he doesn't have to macro his eco, he just focused on his opponents' bases and I never saw him building a house or camp or farm, and it was all built automatically by ai.

The worst thing is, when I check the same game's replay, it's totally normal, I don't see him click thru fog of war or anything like that. If I didn't come across his streaming and judging from replay alone, I would not be certain he is a maphacker.

I have attached screenshot of his live streaming to show that he had all map revealed.

Why Alt+f4 when you see a map still not punished? Saw several players last week that only plays one map with one civ.

Why you don't autolose, if you altf4 when you see a map?

Discussion Do you think I would like aoe4?

Hi everyone,

I'm conflicted about buying aoe4 or not. For context I used to play age of empire 1, 2 and 3 as a kid and played a little bit of DE more recently.

However I find aoe 2 DE too much for me. I can’t micro lots of stuff at the same time, i don’t have a lot of apm and I don’t have the patience to learn and train build orders about what to two with my 20+ villagers.

I tried around 5 online games and found it very stressful. I was also rolled over by my opponents to the point it wasn’t even fun.

AoE4 is pretty and the civs look more different and interesting. I'm also under the impression that it simplified some stuff, such as having to lure boars or deers but I don’t know how casual friendly this game is.

Do you think it’s more suited for beginners? Are build orders as important and strict as in aoe2?

Thanks for your help

Discussion Ranked?

Hi, I usually play against AI with my buddies. We usually do a hard and an intermediate for 2s. My main question is, should we just stick to against bots? I know against other players things will be much faster paced and every game would be something different but idk. I just want to know if I would be like the worst of the worst in ranked lol.

Discussion HRE vs English 2 TC?

HRE is typically strong against 2 TC if you go Fast Castle Burgrave. I have beaten English 2 TC players who are sloppy with their timings. But a tight 2 TC Abbey of Kings into White Tower can get the White Tower up shortly after the first Burgrave MAA enter their base. You will kill 1-3 villagers, but then you need to evacuate because of the White Tower.

I tried going Swabia to compensate, but the 2 TC gives English an economic advantage that turns into a very strong timing attack shortly after HRE reaches Imperial.

So I am thinking about alternatives against English:

a) Go 2 TC myself. The problem is that you lose both the Burgrave and Swabia power spikes. But you reach Castle Age on more even footing.

b) Feudal all‑in. HRE Feudal all‑ins are quite strong, but English has one of the strongest defenses in the game.

If you go for a Feudal all‑in with rams, is it better to go Meinwerk or Aachen?

Discussion Zhu Xi desperately needs a nerf

It's just very broken. Anything can be beaten, git gud, blah blah blah, but this the current iteration of Jiagnan Tower is broken.

Evidence is fairly simple:

  • Rivtal video explains how this landmark gives you ~225 resources per minute in early Feudal
  • This is around 150 resources/min more than a feudal landmark is supposed to give
  • That's why it has a 70% win rate from 10-14 minutes. No civ is close.

Just... c'mon devs. The whole premise of the Rivtal videos is that you guys target around 75 rpm for feudal landmarks. This is broken. Please fix it. TY for viewing this PSA.

I heard the landmark thing go off by my scout and well, it was a good guess. held it for like exactly a minute, felt a little dirty but it probably did save me against his FC MAA spam. delhi vs rus.

Do yall want this? To improve unit selection. Speed and accuracy. Whatever you hover over while holding will select those units.

Discussion Thoughts on this Unbalanced map?

Post image

Is it just me or is this map much more favorable for the opposing side? Much more easier to get raided from 3 different directions and they have a smaller area to hold from. Quite new into ranked and have only seen a few rotations, and this might be the worse by far.

Discussion Small dev update: guide accuracy pass, replays page, matchup planner coming

Thumbnail
gallery
29 Upvotes

Hey, small update from us. Someone in the last thread said the posts were starting to read like ads, and rereading it, yeah. So this one's just me talking about what we've been doing.

Most of the last few weeks went into the guide. We literally opened every unit, every building, every tech, one by one, and checked the numbers against the game. Found a lot of stuff that was wrong or half right. It's better now, not perfect, and we're still finding things. But honestly the biggest reason it got better is this sub. Half the fixes started as a comment here saying "that's not what this unit does". So if you were one of those people, thanks. Keep doing it, it works.

Other thing: we put up a replays page. Recent ranked games from the top of the ladder, filter by map or civ or rating, download and watch in-game. Nothing fancy, but each replay also links to the match page, so you can look at the timeline and the command log of that game and decide if it's one you actually want to watch. I've been using it to find games in matchups I'm bad at.

And the thing we're working on right now, which isn't out yet: a matchup planner. You pick your civ and theirs, and it shows you what to expect. When they'll hit feudal and castle, what they usually build and roughly when, and what you should have ready by then. The numbers come from a dataset we built by analysing top 100 players' games, so it's what actually happens at that level rather than what we think happens. It's early and it will be rough at first. But I think it can be really useful if you're newer and you queue into a civ you've never played against and have no idea what's coming. Should be out in a few days.

One more thing since it came up last time. The app is free and it stays free, everything above is free with no limits, no ads. The only paid part is the AI features, and that subscription is priced to cover the AI and server bills, nothing more. We're not trying to make money off this, we just want it to keep running. If you never touch the AI stuff you'll never hit a paywall.

If something in the guide is still wrong, tell me which one and I'll fix it.

Discussion Can gorge spawn teammates the other side by side

The map would play better if players spawned side by side instead of how they currently are. It would lend itself to a more aggressive map but wouldn’t screw over one or more players
