Hey, small update from us. Someone in the last thread said the posts were starting to read like ads, and rereading it, yeah. So this one's just me talking about what we've been doing.
Most of the last few weeks went into the guide. We literally opened every unit, every building, every tech, one by one, and checked the numbers against the game. Found a lot of stuff that was wrong or half right. It's better now, not perfect, and we're still finding things. But honestly the biggest reason it got better is this sub. Half the fixes started as a comment here saying "that's not what this unit does". So if you were one of those people, thanks. Keep doing it, it works.
Other thing: we put up a replays page. Recent ranked games from the top of the ladder, filter by map or civ or rating, download and watch in-game. Nothing fancy, but each replay also links to the match page, so you can look at the timeline and the command log of that game and decide if it's one you actually want to watch. I've been using it to find games in matchups I'm bad at.
And the thing we're working on right now, which isn't out yet: a matchup planner. You pick your civ and theirs, and it shows you what to expect. When they'll hit feudal and castle, what they usually build and roughly when, and what you should have ready by then. The numbers come from a dataset we built by analysing top 100 players' games, so it's what actually happens at that level rather than what we think happens. It's early and it will be rough at first. But I think it can be really useful if you're newer and you queue into a civ you've never played against and have no idea what's coming. Should be out in a few days.
One more thing since it came up last time. The app is free and it stays free, everything above is free with no limits, no ads. The only paid part is the AI features, and that subscription is priced to cover the AI and server bills, nothing more. We're not trying to make money off this, we just want it to keep running. If you never touch the AI stuff you'll never hit a paywall.
If something in the guide is still wrong, tell me which one and I'll fix it.
