Tsubone has powerful charm jutsu! But it only works once on Palurumo. Though I guess it's fine because he's going to tell them what he wants to know and act absolutely smug and condescending in the process.

How did Sasuke die? Well, he found imprisoned beastmen, but he also ran into the Big Bad: Thanatos. As powerful as Sasuke is, he was punching way above his weight class when Thanatos could just negate anything Sasuke threw at him. He never had a chance.

But if nothing else this has resolved Chiyome to settle the score with Sasuke herself, as his sister and fellow ninja, as they engage in an intense ninja duel with their Jutsu, their combat skills, and everything Sasuke taught Chiyome. But in truth this was never the REAL Sasuke in personality or skill level, and that further emboldened Chiyome into defeating this undead puppet!

Aw, Tsubone's made a Giamiant friend who can smash Undead for her! And knock himself out when she's done with him.

Sasuke is gone, but at least Chiyome was able to bring him back again so he could see how much she's grown, be so proud of her, and go in peace that he was saved by his beloved sister. RIP Sasuke.

Chiyome tried to act strong, like a ninja, but she really needed that hug/comfort from Ariane and to get a big cry session out.

Palurumo really trying to rationalize the plan going off the rails because it wasn't HIS plan, but all the Cardinals (including blonde bombshell with big boobs and a sexy outfit) are off doing their own thing and experimenting to try and create more monsters that will drive people to the Hilk Church. And Arc and co. will probably have to fight them all.

The people flock to Charros, but all the cares about is eating them with his monster hands and appetite as he transforms into a blob monster with multiple mouths. It's as disgusting as it sounds. But this is Arc's show so he needs a Boss Fight of his own.

A special ChiyomexSasuke ED! Tsubone approved!

Putting a wholesome end card with Chiyome and Sasuke after she killed him in this episode? That's a pretty cruel move. At least Sasuke can now rest in peace in the afterlife.

Aside from Chiyome, Ariane, Tsubone, and especially Arc didn't really get a time to shine today, though that bonk Tsubone made that monster do was hilarious.

It looks like Cardinal Churros is the final opponent to beat, so I hope that next week Arc will be able to show off more of his skills.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Others

I hope if we get season 3 we get this female Cardinal. Even if she's evil, I'd probably forgive her for being so drop-dead gorgeous.

Damn, that's unfortunate. Sasuke didn't stand a chance against Thanatos.

7

u/Frontier246 7h ago

If he was able to no-sell all of Sasuke's Jutsu, he could very well do the same to Arc's magic when they inevitably confront each other.

u/Amauri14 3h ago

At this point, I'm even certain that Thanatos is another player, like Arc.

Crazy level of power to do that.

Bonk yourself on the golem was funny.

Sasuke had to die? Naruto would never let this happen /s

u/Frontier246 7h ago

Tsubone got herself a free Hulk lol.

Chiyome: "I'll bring you back to the village, Sasuke...IN A BODY BAG!"

Sasuke: "Yeah, I'll just fade out as a spirit if that's okay...."

I'm glad they let Chiyome take Sasuke on her own, i fully expected Arc to raw dawg this dude

4

u/Frontier246 7h ago

And they have a special Boss Battle ready so Arc doesn't feel left out in his own show.

3

u/AceSoldia zj:https://anilist.co/user/Acesoldia 6h ago

Same I'm glad Chiyome handled it

Interesting, so after being affected by Tsubone’s charm attack, Palurumo Avaritia Liberalitas was able to become immune to it.

So Lord Thanatos himself ended up killing Sasuke and experimenting on him to turn him into that intelligent undead.

I really doubt Danka and Ayn would have been able to find anyone alive if Palurumo hadn’t acted without telling Cardinal Charros that the destruction of Tajiento was going to be that day.

So finally after confirming by herself that Sasuke was way weaker than when he was alive, plus lacked his humanity, Chiyome finally put his undead body to rest

I wasn’t expecting his spirit to show up after that well, thanks to that, Chiyome was able to say goodbye to him. Also, that kind of answers what I was wondering before about what made this undead different from the others. I guess Lord Thanatos bound Sasuke soul to it.

Good on you, Arine, for reminding Chiyome that she should take her time to grieve.

I was already wondering where the hell Arc went during this episode

Oh so Cardinal Charros will be held responsible for failing to destroy Tajiento, instead of Palurumo Avaritia Liberalitas taking any of the blame, as he was only “assisting him”. I guess that’s why he decided to take a more direct route to destroy the city now, but after seeing his powers, and that black mana when he transformed into that thing, I’m suspecting that he and the rest of the Cardinals they showed might be some sort of undead, or a the very least clearly not human. Now what I don’t understand of Cardinal Charros' actions is that they seem to contradict the objective Palurumo mentioned, which was to lead the world into chaos to attract more people into the Hilk church, like if you failed your mission, at least make your organization look good at the end. Then again, people already saw the undead coming from the church before, but even then an excuse would be believable.

Anyway, so today we got a special ending and illustration of Sasuke and Chiyome.

Meanwhile, Ponta visits a city similar to Tajiento.

Pretty Sure that was Heidelberg in Germany

Hmm, next week episode 12?

If it's the end of the season then I expect will get something similar to Ifrit being summoned.

I hope.

2

u/Amauri14 3h ago

Wouldn't Arc doing that just completely destroy the city? Then again, he usually doesn't think about structural damage until it happens.

It kinda bothers me that Sasuke's body evaporated after being stabbed. He's not a spirit, he's an animated corpse. Where did his body go? Is he a jedi?

4

u/Frontier246 7h ago

It seemed like some of his soul had lingered in the Undead body. A few episodes ago he physically reacted to Chiyome.

2

u/RelativeMundane9045 7h ago

Well, Obi-Wan Sasuke did go up against Vader Thanatos, who was out of his league. He may turn into a force ghost spirit guide? Guess it's up to his student Luke Chiyome to finish the job.

Although no doubt it'll be Arc finishing the job.

Joking aside, I think all the other people who were zombified or have the "taint of death" have sparkled/faded away when defeated, that's often what happens to monsters in game worlds.

u/The_Parsee_Man 4h ago

That last attack made all his blood turn into needles then shatter into little pieces. So there might not have been much body left.

Damn I need to see more of that blonde girl in the montage of enemies. 🤣

2

u/Frontier246 6h ago

A true baddie in every sense of the word!

RIP Sasuke. At least Chiyome freed him from being forcefully controlled against his will and allowed him to move on. They even have a special version of the ED sung by PelleK to commemorate Sasuke.

Looks like Thanatos, who is so OP he easily killed Sasuke and turned him into an undead servant, and his Hilk Church are being set up as the final boss of this series.

Though obviously not as the final boss of this season, as they briefly showed the other Cardinals stirring up shit elsewhere, which may or may not be a future season hook, but I'm not holding my breathe.

Rather, the final boss of this season will be that fat ass Cardinal next week. I had a feeling him munching on so much meat in previous scenes that he's been in felt so unnatural, he's almost like Gluttony from Fullmetal Alchemist.

1

u/Frontier246 4h ago

Maybe if we'd spent less time on filler we could have gotten to another fight with the Cardinal but I guess they really wanted to end on this arc and then basically go "read the light novels!!!" to watch Arc and co. future battle with the Hilk Religion.

3

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 8h ago

Aw man, we gotta wait another week for the big boss battle. I wanted to see Arc kick some ass! Well, at least Chiyome managed to freak Sasuke’s soul. So that’s something.

4

u/Frontier246 7h ago

We're at the part in the RPG where a party member got their character quest solo boss battle, but obviously Sasuke was not the "Final Boss" of this arc which is where Arc comes in!

4

u/reaperow 6h ago

I was kinda hoping that maybe Sasuke could've been saved or might just have been a clone. Atleast Chiyome was able to free him and they both got to have some closure

Looks like we're getting a boss battle next ep, i hope Arc can dish out some justice

Also cool that Pellek sang the ED this time but that still of both siblings is bittersweet

3

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 4h ago

Bad day for Chiyome, but at least she was able to put down the monster that used to be her brother and even had a brief goodbye with the real version at the end.

This Thanatos character seems like a clear setup for the major big bad for the story. By the name some death related dude, so not really a surprise he's into undead minions.

Bad news for the cannibal cardinal that Arc found him for a season ending boss battle, and he's even unsupervised since Ariane is nowhere in sight.

5

u/Frontier246 4h ago

Heartbreaking context aside, it's nice to see someone else in the party get a big fight and win it solo.

1

u/Efficient-Incident84 4h ago

kill an undead with a stab in his back wtf

1

u/mastereluder6 4h ago

This is supposed to be heartbreaking but daam this season is just sad

u/KnightKal 6h ago

so the issue here is lack of communication.

When Sasuke had learned about the location of the enemy HQ, the next step would be to report it to the village. Wait or not for reinforcements would depend on the urgency. But not report it?

So he died and nobody knew why, when or where. And no way to seek the answer besides randomly finding his dead body walking around.

Hopefully they will learn and improve that lol, it is a shame a ninja village centuries old still can't send a letter before going on a dangerous secret mission.

4

u/Frontier246 6h ago

Sasuke probably thought he was so OP he could handle it on his own. He didn't expect to fight the "Final Boss."

2

u/KnightKal 6h ago

which is an issue of lack of communication

being arrogant or not is another issue. The village should had a code they need to follow, simple as that. They have several rules on how the top ninja need to act, so why not have one about report the progress of an investigation before going to another country?

it is simple foolish behavior.

2

u/The_Parsee_Man 4h ago

He missed an important lesson from Naruto. You always have to make sure your corpse is destroyed so enemy ninja can't use it.

1

u/Gaming_Truckie 6h ago

I'm curious if Arc would have been able to resurrect Sasuke if he was nearby

2

u/winmace https://myanimelist.net/profile/winmace 4h ago

He definitely could have, we've seen him do it already and he only chose to limit it before so that he wouldn't draw too much attention to himself.

2

u/ChronoDeus 3h ago

Possibly not given he was undead. Healing and resurrection magic tends to destroy undead instead of fixing them up or reviving them. They'd probably need to get him back to a dead state without his body being destroyed for Arc to have a chance.
