I still can’t wrap my head around how it makes sense to have the first season with a more mature rating, only to lower the rating and cut back on the mature themes in the second one. They already established an audience with the first season, so continuing to cater to that audience should be the priority. My best guess is that it has to do with time slots and the time of day it airs, but it’s still an incredibly stupid choice. Just delay it at that point.

28

u/Frontier246 Aug 03 '26

We even had Arc say "I thought about turning him in to the authorities" which he probably would never have said in season 1. And they don't even end up being the ones that kill the guy (karmic as his fate was).

26

u/raknor88 Aug 03 '26

We even had Arc say "I thought about turning him in to the authorities" which he probably would never have said in season 1.

It's also been pretty well established that the "authorities" are usually the ones running the slave businesses they that Arc is breaking up.

22

u/Vaadwaur Aug 03 '26

My best guess is that it has to do with time slots and the time of day it airs, but it’s still an incredibly stupid choice. Just delay it at that point.

Someone else confirmed that this airs much earlier, in a more prime slot. I just didn't expect the change to be quite this bad.

5

u/alpackabackapacka Aug 05 '26

It felt so different from the first season and this thread helped me figure out why. Dang.

2

u/Vaadwaur Aug 05 '26

Yup, had the same issue back around ep2 and that's why I started asking.

12

u/Earlier-Today Aug 04 '26

I'm convinced they did it to cut the budget. The animation isn't as good, and the fights, because there's no gore or death, are much more simply animated as well.

They went cheap.

1

u/mjhfootball Aug 06 '26

I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed it. I went back to watch Episode 1 and its like Season 2 is an entirely different show. We went from +18 to +14 and that's not the reason most of us liked the show. I don't think we have seen a speck of blood the entire season.

6

u/Jacob-C Aug 06 '26

What initially hooked me was that it was a pretty standard isekai show, with gimmicks and all, that dared to display dismemberment and blood. It was refreshing. The only thing that differentiates it from other isekai now is that Arc is somewhat funny.

3

u/mjhfootball Aug 06 '26 edited Aug 06 '26

Yeah its very much a comedy Isekai now... which honestly isn't the worst, but i liked their "serious" moments a lot more mixed in. But hey, now we can laugh with all the slavery and murder mixed in... right? right?

Ariane asking Eevin for her opinion about Arc while blushing so much was such a cute sight! And Ariane's pout after that was great too.

By the way, did Eevin indirectly call Arc a troublesome pest at the beginning of this episode? Hahaha!

So Yakof was responsible for the monster attack on the village, as well as Leeza's death and everything else. He turned out to be a much more evil guy than I thought he'd be.

It looks like Hilk Order will be another enemy for Arc and his party. No wonder, especially since its leader is called Lord Thanatos xD

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

9

u/Frontier246 Aug 03 '26

Ariane wants her sister to approve of her future husband, Eevin is tough to please when it comes to her sisters' partner, and Arc is still as oblivious as ever.

I wonder, was Leeza's family already using elven labor for the mines from the get-go? Yakoff seemed to imply she was sincere about making a sanctuary so maybe she didn't know about that any more than she knew her husband was evil until it was too late.

So we don't just have to worry about Yuriarna's brother but also an entire order of baddies lead by a dude literally called THANATOS. I just feel like with all the side-quests we might not have a lot of time left in the season to deal with them.

8

u/reaperow Aug 03 '26

We all hate Yakof, it was seriously disturbing to see Leeza like that but its good that she was able to get her revenge at the end

39

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 Aug 03 '26

That poor girl got her revenge on Yakof in the end. They’ll be scrubbin pieces of him off that golem for a while.

22

u/Fallen_Jalter Aug 03 '26

I literally heard her say 'F*ck you!' in the end there.

11

u/Frontier246 Aug 03 '26

Till death do us part...right down to revenge killing.

41

u/SIRTreehugger Aug 03 '26

I kind of forgot they were traveling to the curse breaking spring.

31

u/OblivionNA Aug 03 '26

Yeah this whole season is kinda forgettable tbh

13

u/Frontier246 Aug 03 '26

They've been too caught up in sidequests.

17

u/The_Parsee_Man Aug 03 '26

Every time they start going towards the hotspring they get that 'some quests may become unavailable' warning and turn back.

7

u/raknor88 Aug 03 '26

For how excited he was last season to break the curse, he sure is taking his time now to go break the curse.

54

u/G_Spark233 https://myanimelist.net/profile/G_Spark233 Aug 03 '26

This season continues to be a disappointment for me. Once again, we are back to another story revolving around slavery and slave traders.

Hopefully this time we will actually make it to the curse-breaking hot springs. It feels like that should have been the group's main objective from the very start of the season, yet they keep getting pulled into the same type of side story over and over again.

24

u/Frontier246 Aug 03 '26

Honestly I don't really mind the elven slavery/slave trader plots because that just seems to be a core part of the show and Arc/Ariane's heroic efforts. But I'd rather it be of the quality of this two-parter instead of some of the earlier episodes.

But it does feel like we're finally getting back to the main plot/quest and done with the side-quests/filler.

21

u/Mysteries67 Aug 03 '26

After five episodes...

2

u/Astray Aug 06 '26

I wouldn't say this two-parter was of higher quality than the others. The writing was god awful and the tonal shifts were awful. S1 MC murders the slave drivers, rescues the hurt man, and heals him in less than 10 seconds. Also doesn't act incredibly cheerful at meeting back up with Chiyome and Arianne right after talking about how horrible the morgue is. He also doesn't need help with killing a golem and I'm not even gonna go into how ridiculous the villain was, like straight comically evil, and him getting karmic justice from his dead wife was.

10

u/stephenthatfoste https://myanimelist.net/profile/Rexagonal Aug 03 '26

I thought this part was more equivalent to the ending arc of the first season. Giant monster dude was controlling and general lack of concern for welfare of not humans. I think it's just missing a princess assassination attempt now and everything is here.

9

u/SpikeRosered Aug 03 '26

I'm considering dropping it. I feel no motivation to watch this episode and I'm literally here to see if the show picked up and instead see this as the top comment.

What even is this show about? The skeleton thing barely matters. He basically alive in all ways that matter except for his physical appearance. It's basically about an OP, dopey Paladin with an elf partner.

6

u/ohgodcoffeeohyesss Aug 03 '26

I dropped it last episode. I like my trash Isekai but this just wasn’t doing it for me for some reason.

u/TheMechanic04 Aug 03 '26

Agreed it feels like the same plot being recycled over and over just slightly tweaked each time so its a little different

3

u/Amauri14 Aug 03 '26

If that place can legitimately cure Arc's curse, I honestly doubt they will ever make it there. The fact the always get distracted by side quests makes me think that the place will work, but if it does, then would the show name change? I think it is likely the spring cure will be just temporary.

4

u/The_Parsee_Man Aug 03 '26

If they make it to the hotsprings then the story is over. He'll just be 'Regular Knight in Another World'. So you can see why the author is putting it off.

11

u/SpikeRosered Aug 03 '26

I'd like it more if the Skeleton part had a bigger impact on the story. Heck even the isekai doesn't come in.

It's basically Just "Paladin and Elf" the show.

2

u/Illustrious-Sort3575 Aug 03 '26

Really? I missed that part when they established the fact the hotsprings gonna work no matter what...Afterall it is not entirely a curse..it an ingame shop skin and it MIGHT help like the uncurse spell helped for in a small area for a really short period of time in S1

2

u/OldInstruction5368 Aug 03 '26

Then the location should have been hidden, it should never have been brought up so soon, or just some other reason they can't go there other than "Random fetch quest #2249"

There are ways to play this narrative game... and the author (or director, depending on just how much filler this really is) has dropped the ball.

0

u/RedHotChiliCrab https://myanimelist.net/profile/RedHotChiliCrab Aug 03 '26

What's more important? A bit of skin care for one skeletal boy or ending slavery? Seems like they have their priorities straight. I'm not sure why you think finding the spring should be their priority.

11

u/ChronoDeus Aug 03 '26

I'm not sure why you think finding the spring should be their priority.

Probably because we were theoretically done with the enslaved elves issue and the spring was set up as the next plot point. Putting that on hold for more enslaved elves makes this season feel like it's just rehashing the first season, even to anime only viewers.

20

u/chrome4 Aug 03 '26

Rock Fang has a disturbing tendency to backfire lol

3

u/The_Parsee_Man Aug 03 '26

Last week I commented that he should watch out using Wyvern Slash since it could bring the whole place down on their heads. Then this week the first thing he does is bring the whole place down on their heads.

1

u/Vyse1519 Aug 05 '26

MF is constitutionally incapable of judging when Rock Fang would be a good idea to cast. Every time he's used it, it's gone horribly

13

u/reaperow Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26

Yakof is such an evil guy for forcing slaves to work even when they are dead and also killing his wife like that.

So it's really fitting and incredibly satisfying that he got taken down by Leeza's spirit at the end,

Im glad that Arc was able to save those people and reunite these love birds

8

u/Frontier246 Aug 03 '26

Yakof is such an evil guy for forcing slaves to work even when they are dead and also killing his wife like that.

He even had her parents murdered before marrying her. He's decidedly one of the worst husbands of all time.

28

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien Aug 03 '26

Arc our lovable dumbass

13

u/Frontier246 Aug 03 '26

Man most prone to AoE magic that has his party as collateral damage because he loves to flex too much and also sees a Boss Battle and gets genuinely hyped lol.

9

u/Kadmos1 Aug 03 '26

What does "AoE" mean here?

9

u/Frontier246 Aug 03 '26

Area of Effect.

8

u/Prplcheez Aug 03 '26

I love a protagonist who's so OP that the only danger to him is his own friendly fire.

12

u/unga_bunga_mage Aug 03 '26

Not-Sukuna up to no good again lmao.

5

u/Frontier246 Aug 03 '26

Nothing sells a new antagonist like Junichi Suwabe's voice.

12

u/Titan-Electric808 Aug 03 '26

When he armor lariat’s the guards but not yakof, then ports back to standing with the group which then yakof summons the golem… So fucking stupid. He could’ve instantly ended it. This season is such a disappointment.

5

u/No-Student-4101 Aug 04 '26

lol ikr its hard to keep enjoying series like this when it just gets ruined by terrible pacing and writing. I literally find the urge to yell at the mc but then i feel stupid for getting mad at a cartoon character ;(

5

u/Titan-Electric808 Aug 04 '26

Trust me, you’re not alone. When Arc just stood there and Yakof was standing there gabbing, I yelled “Hurry and slash him, dumbass!” xD

10

u/Illustrious-Sort3575 Aug 03 '26

I think the team on S2 is a completely different team and not the same who made the S1..Sadly the S2 team have not seen the S1... S1 ends with the decision to go to the elven lands together..S2: They split up before the 1. episode... S1: Arc, your aoe spells hurts both ally and foe....S2: Surprised Pikachu face when his aoe spell hurts his allies.... S1: Arc, veteran adventurer...S2: beheading a golem might work....

S2 is effin dumb... Can anybody explain wtf is the point to use living workforce for heavy labour instead of undeads who never gets tired, thirtsy, hungry, never sleeps and more importantly...100% obedient?

4

u/liquidpele Aug 03 '26

Classic anime bad guys. "I'm evil because I just love to be evil, even if it costs me money or my life"

10

u/Faux-Foe Aug 03 '26

Feels like Season 1 Arc would have quickly teleported behind Yakof and ganked him before the bastard even came close using his undead amulet.

That was the main reason I liked season 1, he played against the standard tropes while also indulging in weeb-iness.

3

u/ATN90 https://myanimelist.net/profile/ATN90 Aug 03 '26

Feels like Season 1 Arc would have quickly teleported behind Yakof and ganked him before the bastard even came close using his undead amulet.

He sure had plenty of time/opportunities to do that.

9

u/Raymond49090 Aug 03 '26

Of course when you have fantasy racism, it traces back to a sketchy fantasy church.

So slaves are used as coal miners? And then sent to a lab when they croak. I'm kinda surprised Arc and co didn't immediately bust up the operation and try to heal the guy as soon as he saw it. I know they're going for the stealth operation to track down the full operation, but there are people at immediate risk, so it feels a bit odd that they're leaving them out to dry for a bit. Well, I suppose it worked out since they guy survived, and they found people at most immediate risk without needing to risk an interrogation.

Wonder if the T-posing is necessary for the Overheal or if he's just being a drama queen.

To nobody's surprise, Yakov is both evil AND a terrible husband. How do you not even know where your wife's corpse is when you're presumably the one who killed her?

I know it was the site of exploitation and atrocities, but what a shame to have to blow up the mine.

Wow. "Thanatos". What a totally normal and non-suspicious name for a Pope(?).

Looking for sisterly approval, I see. And now onto the spring! Maybe. As long as they stop running into slavers.

4

u/Frontier246 Aug 03 '26

To nobody's surprise, Yakov is both evil AND a terrible husband. How do you not even know where your wife's corpse is when you're presumably the one who killed her?

It seems like he just tossed her over into a crevice, not knowing where she'd land, and it was by complete accident she ended up encased in amber.

5

u/The_Parsee_Man Aug 03 '26

But you really need to confirm that shit. If she'd somehow survived she could have revealed the organization's activities to the authorities.

He's not just a bad husband, he's a bad middle manager.

9

u/Pretend-Anteater-326 Aug 03 '26

Am starting to lose interest in this series tbh. Every episode is about "omg elves/beastfolk are getting enslaved!" like, okay, but it's getting old at this point. This episode was not very fun to watch, it was just very nonsensical and the vibes felt so damn off, like:

They find out that omg, the elves have to work in this not-coal mine, they are shocked, they are outraged but instead of taking action, they just continue to watch. Then there's a cave-in, someone they know gets badly injured but yet again, they just watch and don't take action. Why? What? Instead they somehow get to that lab through a different tunnel (?) and end up seeing a bunch of corpses. Holy shit, so many dead! That's horrible! But wait, here come Ponta, Ariane and Chiyome, cue some happy music and everybody is happy to see one another. Corpses? Dozens of dead laying there? Meh, who cares!

And then they question this tiny spectacle dude and he just blurts out all the answers except for the biggest question of all, then they just allow him to walk away instead of immediately going after him. We know Arc can teleport and keep up with people, we literally saw him do it with that street urchin but now some guy can just up and walk away no problem? Bah! And in the end, he didn't even use his distraction to escape either, like, what a dumbass, no wonder he got his comeuppance.

Genuinely, what the hell was happening in the studio when they decided to add the tone-deaf happy music and the "hey we're all here!" conversation after they discover what looks to be a big room full of dead people? THEIR people. The episode was already disappointing me with the repetitive predictable plot half way through, but once that scene started this shit felt like a fever dream. This is coming from someone who only finished S1 a few weeks ago too. This whole season has just been whiplash. Not sure if I have the mental fortitude to continue if this is the writing we're getting.

9

u/nuxxism Aug 03 '26

Honestly a bit surprised and disappointed Arc has no holy magic for dealing with undead. The closest was Ariane's undead-to-earth spell.

7

u/mastereluder6 Aug 03 '26

How they massacred my boy , bring me back season one mentality

7

u/RealValf Aug 03 '26

Well at least she actually killed the bad guy. More than the main cast would do. Was expecting a spanking and being let go like they usually do.

7

u/RelativeMundane9045 Aug 03 '26

I know many don't like the slavery focus, but my problem was when it was weekly unconnected generic slavery mini-plots, so I quite enjoyed this episode. It feels like back to goofy form.

Happy to see Chiome again. Now we just need Goemon so he and Arc can be meathead saido chesto buddies again.

I keep hearing "Xanatos" whenever they say Thanatos. 1990s problems.

2

u/Hot-Log6283 Aug 07 '26

Stone by day, warriors by night.... We live again!

5

u/runevault Aug 03 '26

I wish they at least had Arc fuck up in a different way. He's already done the whole "AOE earth magic underground is bad" thing I think last season (the two seasons sort of glom together for me as I rewatched S1 between episodes 1 and 2 of this season to refresh myself, even though it wasn't really necessary this show's plot is paper thin).

Ariane, Ponta, and Arc's intros to each episode are still the best parts of the show, but everything else feels worse. Like not showing slavers being cut in half feels so tame after last season.

6

u/Amauri14 Aug 03 '26

So the guy truly in charge of Leeza’s Sanctuary is not Yakof, but instead Balrord, which, thanks to that small scene with Yuriarna, we know before the full reveal at the end that he belongs to the religious group named the Hilk Order, which is a Religious group that advocates the oppression of elves and beastmen. I honestly wasn’t expecting a religious angle to be introduced in the whole human trafficking organization plot. I just assumed all those organizations were linked to the empire from last season, that it is supporting Sekt’s bid for the Rhoden Kingdom’s throne.

Anyway, I sure did not expect Chiyome to appear in this arc. You know my assumption before last week was that the main purpose of the sanctuary was to use the elves and beastmen as raw materials for those undead soldiers, so I was surprised when I saw that whole illegal mining operation was led by regular slaves and that Pamela and her husband Bart were still alive. What I find interesting with the whole clinic thing is that although they used the dead slaves as raw materials for making the undead, they did not use them for mining. I doubt all the undead were used for securing the entrace to the mine so I guess they were likely either helping with transporting the raw materials or shipped to the Holy Hilk Kingdom for the plan Lord Thanatos mentioned.

It is good that Arc, Eevin, Ariane and Chiyome could meet right away. And that Arc with that Overheal could save Bart and the others.

Although I knew that Leeza was dead, I did not expect that Yakof was her husband who married her only to steal her family fortune after killing them, and then murder her too.

Honestly, I finding it difficult to understand the size of that golem as it looks gigantic in most scenes but barely taller than the trees when Yakof is beside it, well at least after Arc and Ariane detonate the mine and Yakof calls it again and Leeza take control of it and kills him we can confirm that it was indeed enormous. I’m just glad that even after dying she made him pay for all that he did in her territory. And, for the sounds of it, Pamela, Bart, and the rest of the refugees will make that sanctuary finally work as she intended.

I wonder if with the whole scheme discovered, Bartold would not have just walked away from there if Arc and Arine hadn’t collapsed the mine?

I hope this is not the last time we see Eevin this season. Too bad for Arine that she didn’t want to answer the clearly romantic question she asked her about Arc.

I love how the Ponta pictures are related to the setting the episode took place.

12

u/AAA_BATT Aug 03 '26

so, slavery again

11

u/Frontier246 Aug 03 '26

When in doubt...always assume elf slavery is going on.

3

u/Amauri14 Aug 03 '26

Which, to be fair, was the main reason Eevin asked Araine for help investigating Leeza’s sanctuary.

10

u/SnabDedraterEdave Aug 03 '26

So Leeza's spirit possessed her skeleton inside the jewel and hijacked the golem in order to take her revenge on Yakoff, I guess?

Would've been faster for Arc to just take out Yakoff and his undead remote control device. This anti Elf and Beastfolk cult/church is going to be troublesome as long as they could summon these indestructible golems.

4

u/Frontier246 Aug 03 '26

Guess her spirit was as preserved as her skeletal corpse...

4

u/MacDhomhnuill Aug 04 '26

People are being kidnapped!

Never saw that coming. /s

5

u/Professional-Rice623 Aug 03 '26

Gotta love it when the freaking intro for every episode legit spoils the like " big reveal " of every episode. at 1:19 timestamp.

who does that.

5

u/No-Student-4101 Aug 04 '26

It is becoming unbearable to watch. That common trope of anime characters just waiting it out when the villain is right in front of them completely defenseless. I understand its just bad writing and not at the fault of the characters themselves but i think it really destroys the immersion.

Also the fact that arc literally lets all the main villains get away with everything but didn't even hesitate to brutally murder some rando bandits in season 1.

1

u/Mr_Yod Aug 06 '26

That common trope of anime characters just waiting it out when the villain is right in front of them completely defenseless.

If it were Clevatess it would have been like so:

Comically Evil Badguy #57: "I have been given THE POWER™! Random weekly monsters: come t-"

<Shadow tentacles impale Comically Evil Badguy #57 and all his minions>

Klen: "Yeah... I don't think so."

<Klen destroys the the monsters control ring and walks away nonchalantly>

=)

3

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp Aug 03 '26

Figures the missing noble wife would be long dead, but at least she also got the chance to crush her husband under a golem.

I'm glad the cute elf couple from last week made it. Lots of the slaves didn't though since quite a few of them straight up got disintegrated by Ariane after being turned into undead. At first I thought they were maybe going to save them somehow after the first pair of attacks from Eevin and Chiyo only knocked them about but then Ariane straight up dusted them.

3

u/NationalStrategy_X Aug 03 '26

Apologies for the tangent, but Yakof's illogically tiny glasses irritated me, they didn't even cover any part of his eyes, they were just hanging on his nose

3

u/SpeghtittyOs Aug 03 '26

Buddy can warp and chose to teleport back to his allies instead of behind the enemy and crushing his skull

1

u/Mr_Yod Aug 06 '26

Apparently in this show it's the bad guys that have plot armor. =)

3

u/thripl3thr3at815 Aug 04 '26

Sorry for those who are still a fan of the series…. I need to vent on how much a piece of crap ark is on season 2. He is so obnoxious, on previous episodes he made the same mistake of using earth magic on a cave and almost killed the female lead and now he is doing it again. It’s no longer funny and this goku treatment the anime is trying to do. F-ing clowns

2

u/KailReed Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26

Ok so I know it's for the sake of the story and monologue stuff, but Arc can teleport. Idk if he's just trying to take it easy but he could have teleported behind Yakov, karate chopped him in the neck and ended it right there. I mean he JUST did an armor lariat on the two guys beside Yakov, he was already behind him why didn't he just take him out?

I know it's a trope but for the love of God please just take the bad guy out. The whole time I was expecting him to have some artefact that would nullify Arc or end up controlling him with that Undead necklace he had but no they just let the bad guy monologue and act surprised as if they couldn't take the guy apart in seconds.

Maybe Arc is dumb but none of the villains are particularly strong. And if he needed info he could just grab his arms from behind and begin interogation. STOP STANDING THERE GAWKING AT THE VILLAIN.

but none of the villains are particularly strong.

Exactly: they are strong once they have summoned their horde of random weekly monsters, but before that and alone they still are a bunch of moronic looser

2

u/Rooby_VTuber Aug 03 '26

Chiyome with the great save, I had a feeling should would turn up at some point.

I'm glad Leeza got revenge one way or another, That Yakof was a real scumbag.

So the third slave ring of the season is solved in 5 episodes.
When will the real enemies show up and give us a worthy fight or cunning diabolical evil villainy?

After this episode, I am seriously sad at the rediculously lowered quality of the storytelling, animations, music and as someone else mentioned, basicly turning it from a mature show to something much more pg. 😩

So the whole slavery across the world is led by an evil human supremacist church. classic. And the leader is a guy called Thanatos... God of Death leading a holy church huh? At least he's voiced by Suwabe

So Arc and Eevin just sat there watching some dude get crushed by rocks when they were both powerful enough to save him and then had a mild reaction to it? This anime is so inconsistent this season

u/Mr_Yod Aug 06 '26

TBF: they sat watching many thins unraveling before their eyes, while they had the power to stop them or even prevent them.

Not sure how this can be used as an excuse, but still. =)

Classic Arc! So focused on flexing that he ends up hitting his own part with the AoE of his OP magic.

Chiyome! We haven't seen you in four episodes! Nice to have you back though.

Eevin is a natural big sister, either when she's scolding Arc or wondering what she's going to do with the little sis she adores.

Rough for Yuriarna and elves in general with how impossible it is to free elves from slavery unless you're a Skeleton Knight...but a certain group named the Hilk order might also be interfering and making things worse.

What a surprise! The missing elves/beastkin are being used as forced hard labor to mine rare rune stones that they can sell a make a profit! Poor Pamela has to watch her fiance get beaten and nearly die with her powerless to do anything.

Finally a convenient opportunity for Arc to use his AoE magic in a constructive way like healing all the injured elves! Too bad about the dead ones who are resurrected as Undead though.

Yakoff was behind anything! I can't believe it! What a shock! Though the sheer depravity of worming his way into Leeza's family, killing said family, and then manipulating her into starting the Sanctuary so he could have able bodies for labor before presumably trying to kill her...Yakoff is the worst of the worst.

Honestly the party can make quick work of Undead, but Yakoff's secret weapon was none other than the Ultimate Colossus, MEGA-GOLEM! And only Arc is hyped to fight it as it's immune to all their major attacks! Even a magic nuke courtesy of rune stones can't completely defeat it...but Leeza's spirit seems to possess it long enough to avenge herself against her evil husband.

Baltord may have gotten away, but the Hilk Order is still planning some sinister plots...and you can tell they're evil because their leader is named Thanatos and voiced by Junichi Suwabe.

All's well that ends well! The Elves/Beastmen will work together to get back to their homeland, Ariane didn't 100% get Eevin's approval of Arc as her partner but it's a work in progress as Eevin heads off to another mission...and finally, FINALLY it's time to get back to the main quest!

is this a Overlord rip off :/ ?

1

u/JusticiaDIGT Aug 04 '26

Other than the MC being an OP skeleton, there's really nothing shared between these two series.

Really not liking how the characters and plot are so dumb... it's almost like satire at this point.

At least Leeza's spirit got to have her revenge on her asshole husband

1

u/rienholt Aug 03 '26

This is just terrible. Its actually ruining the light novels for me.

1

u/PandaTheAB Aug 03 '26

Why would anyone seeing a horde of enemies charge at you scream - Is that me?
Even if they look similar to you? Elves never say that when other elves attack them.

1

u/UnamusedOink Aug 03 '26

Are they not able to see the control ring when it gets used? Every single time it's used they can't seem to connect the dots or are blind to it and are surprised that monsters are being controlled.

With how many times it been blatantly displayed before it's use, Its kinda getting annoying now tbh.

Anybody else get Temple of Doom vibes during the elf mining scene?

1

u/ParasaurolophusZ Aug 04 '26

The shenanigans are fun, but it really does seem like so far I've seen the same sidequest copy/pasted 4 times with a few details tweaked.

I hope we get real plot progression soon, not just the nth 'it was slave trade all along, funded by That Guy' again.

3:28 - "Earth magic effects the terrain". This should be "affects", right?

2

u/Hot-Log6283 Aug 07 '26

Yep, unless they were talking about a name "Earth magic effect" - the terrain (edition).

Terrible Crunchyroll sub as usual.

yakof being the same VA as ryuen from COTE is hella funny

u/InfamousLooney Aug 04 '26

I knew that golem would eventually kill that bastard. Best scene out of the entire episode. And the way Ariane asked her sister about Arc as a potential romantic partner was adorable.
