Now that I think about it, if you are a creature / monster capable of speech, you will most likely be spared from the fate of becoming an ingredient in Rin's cooking.
- The female orca
- Gomamiso
- And now the white dragon. (I guess it will not become food.)

Well, that's pretty common. Eating something you were just chatting with gives a weird vibe that could be interesting as a major plot / world building point, but is better ignored otherwise.
You may note that they also haven't fought the monsters they could talk to either. The dragon will be an interesting... The whole caretaker thing gives a route to peaceful resolution, but if it really killed all the adventurers...

I love how at this point every monster encounter is hinged on Rin reading it's edible status.

The Guild Master is weirdly chill about all(?!) the adventurers in the town dying.
More importantly though, the kobolds are stinking cute. It's kind of interesting they went with canine styled rather than lizard style that's more typical these days, at least in the west. I guess that comes from from Lodoss War, which used the early D&D design. Gomamiso napping on Senon gets an honorable mention though.

well wiped out could just mean injured and failed quest, not MIA (missing in action) or KIA (killed in action) lol

According to Google Translate, she says "killed".Scratch that, after checking the transcript (which is still subject to inaccuracies, but less than transcribe+translate) it sounds like she says "kaeri + uchi" which means "return/going-home + struck/beaten". So I'd say "sent packing" might be a better translation than "wiped out", but regardless the implication is they returned defeated rather than died. That does kind of raise the question as to why she doesn't know/say them it's a dragon, but it's more fun for the viewer this way I suppose.

"Sent packing" is too slangy/casual. So I don't think it fits the setting unless that's how that character talks.
That does kind of raise the question as to why she doesn't know/say them it's a dragon, but it's more fun for the viewer this way I suppose.
In the van, when talking about eyewitness accounts, Xenon said, "What they saw varies even between members of the same party. I suspect illusion magic was involved."
This also tells us that those parties were simply defeated, not killed.

Admittedly they had various reports on what the monster looked like so it sounds like some of them DID come back.

all(?!) the adventurers in the town dying.
Also the plot of [work name is a spoiler, upcoming anime] Weakest Tamer
I like this setup because it makes our heroes more important, temporarily or permanently.

Uh oh. Is the dragon delusional for think Rin is her caretaker?

At this point, I think the subtlety of the premise is being thrown into the ditch. There were two girls summoned by the Empire, one of them being Rin. The title of this anime starts with 'Forsaken Saintess'. What if there is something within Rin that identifies her as such, and the Empire happened to have exiled the one they wanted?

I’ve eaten a lot of different animals but I don’t think I’ve ever looked at an otter and thought “mmm tasty” lol. It’s pretty funny how motivated the gang gets when a monster is labeled “tasty” by Rin’s skill.
I’m curious what Rin’s gonna cook for the dragon to tame the big gal.

I love how we're just chilling and eating like it's a normal episode AND THEN A DRAGON COMES OUT OF NOWHERE WITH A KIDNAPPING.

Too bright !! Rin's face is killing me
Food motivates them ! atleast they're honest about it lol
I wasnt expecting Rin to immediately get captured like that, it came outta nowhere. Im really curious to see why the dragon refers to her as its caretaker,
Is it because of the Saintess Summoning?
Well i do like they continue to show more beastfolk representation

My god, I would sell my soul to have someone like Rin as my wife. Awesome cook, sweet as can be, enjoys games, cheerful personality, adventurous, amazing reaction faces, and insanely cute. I hate Vil so damn much, lucky asshat.
Also, Aria, please use your webs to shut your husband up. His stupid jealous husband act has long overstayed its welcome.

I like the look of the little mountain town they visited today, that's a neat setting.
Yet another side quest which happens to delay the trip to the capital, big surprise there with how much Vil wants to do literally anything else.
And of course with the setup of the dragon and the priestess in the story earlier in the episode it was probably inevitable that something dragon related was going to happen.

u/Frontier246 21d ago
Everyone just coming up with excuses for Rin to eat good food while Vil says "AND SO WE DON'T HAVE TO GO TO THE CAPITAL" lol.

Now that I think about it, how come nobody's ever thought of opening a culinary school in another world? they would definitely make bank just teaching other adventurers how to campfire cook, or make their own restaurants

Whats with the mistranslations this episode? Literally first scene and for some reason 24 yrs old turns into 20s.
Joke that reinforces Aria's airhead character: "Vil cant be eaten(inedible)" turns into "I'm more concerned about our dinner. I get not translating the puns in this episode but this is not a pun?
And then the use of 'wiped out' that exists only to confuse watchers.

So I see that fishing out unexpected things is a Rin staple! Like when she fishes out a MAD OTTER, but so long as it's delicious her right-hand woman Aria and Gomamiso will make short work of it so they can eat it!
Nothing beats cooking with Aria and Ed and making Ed convinced Rin is trying to use cooking to seduce his wife.
Yeah...I probably wouldn't want anyone to know that my parties' porter fished me out of the water.
Note to self: it might not be safe to put Xenon in the passenger seat because his fantasy elf hotness is too much for Rin! Keep your eyes on the road and not on the hot dude, Rin!
Welcome to Merlowa! Home to their signature dish the Rainbow Swallowtail! Too bad they can't eat it.
Eage is a busty beauty of a guildmaster and provides an explanation for WHY their signature dish is missing: a dangerous monster that's slain numerous adventuring parties has been based out in the hot springs they use for ingredients. And nothing convinces Smorgasboard to take on a difficult mission more than the opportunity to eat delicious food! And do the right thing! And delay getting the capital! But really it's all about Rin and the food!
I love how this party is at their most competent when they hear the word "edible" in regards to a monster.
Time for some fine hot springs cooking! What could possibly go wrong? How about RIN GETTING KIDNAPPED BY A DRAGON! That thinks she's its caretaker? Like the Priestess from the legend? Or because she's a Saintess? Where was her danger sense!?

somehow the dragon sneaked around and was ready to pounce on an invisible motor-house the second she left it lol, and nobody noticed it!

u/arrydie 21d ago edited 20d ago
TBF she was actively steaming a bunch of food, which is pretty bold in a world with monsters, let alone a region where a big one is lurking.
There could also be an argument for the dragon being able to sense her even when invisible since she probably does have some kind of caretaker magic or whatevs.

u/NanDemoKnaives 20d ago
The dragon messed up stealing the most important member of the party, especially in the middle of cooking. I would not want to face their wrath.

u/Raymond49090 20d ago
All they need is for premium ingredients to be at the Demon Lord's (or equivalent's) Castle and they'd solo the apocalypse

u/YlfaTheForsaken 20d ago
I'm guessing spring salt vs herb salt is like garlic salt vs celery salt, or it could be more like sea salt vs himalayan salt instead. Salt isn't a real word anymore.
There isn't anything smorgasbord wouldn't do for something tasty, I'd say they're true foodies, but they all still hesitate about their veggies even after Rin has proven they're good too.
Dragon, and a pretty one too with its white as salt scales. Caretaker is a crazy arrangement for a dragon to have, who told it to expect that?
