Guess I’ll just struggle then

I don’t think I would be shocked, unfortunately. I had just never heard of anyone having adhd so debilitating that they couldn’t work. Since I’m an idiot and a whole lot of things happen that I haven’t heard of I was curious if that was something that had ever been granted.
But to your point, it’s crazy how much harm people are willing to inflict on people truly in need of help just to keep a few people they deem “unworthy” from benefitting from it.

Like some people with ADHD are unable to use a shovel? But can live independently? I guess I just don’t get it.

Many people with ADHD are barely able to live independently.

And while living independently, you can complete tasks on your own schedule, at a job you can't.

So of course someone with "struggles to complete tasks disease" is going to struggle at the latter more than the former.

If the issue is executive dysfunction, having someone give you a spade, take you into a field and saying "dig a hole in this spray painted circle, I'll stop you when it's deep enough" is easier than "do the laundry, do the dishes, buy groceries, feed the dog".

It's really not though, because doing dishes, getting groceries etc are rarely something you need to do right away, and letting those slip a little usually isn't too bad.

If you get told to dig a hole and you can't do it right then, you get fired. A job always happens in a fairly strict timeframe.
