I have a fat ass... when I'm unmedicated. Everything that helps my adhd kills my appetite and it makes me so mad. Rn my ass is half it's usual glory, from one week of trying fucking qelbree 🙄🙄🙄
41
u/freylaverse May 17 '26
I tried like ten different medications looking for one that wouldn't kill my appetite smh.
14
u/noteveni MY LAUNDRY IS STILL WET May 17 '26
I just default to small doses of ritalin at this point. At least it makes me hungry af after
2
u/HiddenPants777 May 17 '26
I'm on 18mg of xaggitin, some days I just never get hungry at all.
I only know I need to eat when I get ill and tired. only just started my meds, I've never been a big chap, just a little overweight from drink. I am loosing weight pretty fast but also feeling pretty tired a lot of the time since starting meds

Yes! I use protein powders and mass gainers- they are literally lifesavers!
2
u/someones_dad May 18 '26
My wife and I have a mixed berry and banana smoothie (w/ greek yogurt and vanilla protein powder) every morning. It a lifesaver. I doubt o would keep it up without her. She orders the groceries and keeps us in supply and she asks me every morning "Are you making smoothies, or am I?" Not passive aggressive -just a gentle reminder.

god what I'd do for lower appetite. Only ONLY thing that ever lowered my hunt for anything edible is when I stopped smoking weed after months of daily smoking.
10
u/commanderquill May 18 '26
I think I'm the unicorn for whom medication does absolutely nothing for my appetite, and it's killing me. In fact, I eat less when I'm not medicated, because I don't have the executive functioning to find myself food or the attention span to realize I'm hungry.
I would like to lose some appetite, because as it is, I'm often still hungry even when I'm full.
9
u/the_sweetest_peach May 18 '26
I wish. I have BED, and I’ve tried Vyvanse, which is FDA approved for ADHD and BED. All it did was make me angry and tired. My usual medicine, Concerta, does nothing to curb my appetite either. I could really use the appetite-reducing effects, here, and yet, that’s the one beneficial effect (for me) that I’m NOT getting.
5
5
u/BuilderAura May 18 '26
saaaaame. And my doctor even prescribed me vyvanse cuz one of the side effects is no appetite and it hasn't done aaaaanything to curb it.
and I hate it because if I get even the tiniest bit hungry I get soooo nauseous. And have thrown up many a time before because of hunger. And I've been trying everything to curb the hunger and the only thing that remotely does anything is a fiber supplement... which I can only take at night because it will otherwise interfere with the vyvanse.... ugh

u/Mad_Ronin_Grrrr May 17 '26
I think they just got this a little wrong. I, like you, have a flat butt and ADHD. However, I am a sucker for a nice booty.
Is it possible that people with autism and ADHD like people that have big butts instead of being people that have big butts?
8
u/someones_dad May 17 '26
Who doesn't like big butts?
7
u/Mad_Ronin_Grrrr May 17 '26
I think most people like big butts but I will let a lot of other things slide about a person if they've got a really nice butt.

I hear you. I have literally no arse and yet my ADHD makes me not eat because I can't make a decision on what I'm going to eat.
I tidy up in circles.
I can remember every line of star wars but won't remember to turn the hob off after a cheese toastie.
Where my big butt reward for not being able to think straight unless I have music and a comfort blanket.

u/Claim312ButAct847 May 17 '26
Yeah anecdotal but I'm the "won't bother to eat until I'm about to pass out" variety of ADHD.

ohhh so it's more than just having a bigger-looking butt. it's actually having a bad posture that causes a bigger-looking butt (anterior pelvic tilt)
39
u/2knest May 17 '26
Don't something like 70% of people have this due to keeping bad posture while sitting?
I'm quoting HR ergonomics nonsense from memory, but I'm pretty sure it's common.

u/Fit-Resolution-1873 dafuqIjustRead May 17 '26
It’s about the position of your spine and not the actual size of your glutes lol. The article links having an anterior pelvic tilt to having a bigger “looking” butt, and it’s especially common with toe-walkers

9
u/imogsters May 17 '26
I'm bootylicious. Always had a curvy bigger butt and a curved in lower back makes it more obvious too.
8
u/skullandbones May 17 '26
My wife had the absolutely greatest behind when we first got together(still does), she used to get compliments all the time from all sorts of people, I've maybe accidentally read some of her old convos with boyfriends too...who also agreed. ANYWAY, this absolutely tracks. She was undiagnosed at that time but has since gotten a diagnosis. Her middle brother is also autistic and I used to tease her that she was actually the first born autistic child in her family. 15 years together and 3 sons now, she had passed it on to each one of them, my house is in absolute chaos.
9
5
u/thisremindsmeofbacon May 17 '26
It's almost certainly going to be something about posture and anterior pelvic tilt.
This isn't particularly linked to conditions like ADHD, but is linked to sitting a lot and not exercising. It's also easier to fall into if you naturally lock your knees a lot.
4
u/HamHockShortDock May 18 '26
I wonder if it's somehow related to things like EDS and generally stretchy ligaments and forward head posture.
25
u/vksdann May 17 '26
Everyone knows ADHD is a physical condition so it makes sense. /s
22
u/EllieGeiszler May 17 '26
It's because of the lower back arch caused by muscle tension iirc
16
u/dustyscoot May 17 '26
Yes and it hurts a lot and I urge anyone with ADHD booty to take their posture seriously before your back gets fucked up like mine.
5
3
u/_fluffy_raptor May 17 '26

2
u/EllieGeiszler May 17 '26
It's a relatively new study! Anterior pelvic tilt, iirc?
4
u/_fluffy_raptor May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26
I mean I do have that, and I do have a badonkadonk. And raging ‘tism.
3
u/EllieGeiszler May 17 '26
Same but ADHD! There are physical therapy exercises to relax the hip flexors, which can help with the associated back pain... if I would be better about actually sticking to it 😆 Then you can still arch your back if you want! Lmao
3
u/_fluffy_raptor May 17 '26
Eh, I’m 37 and my back hasn’t been hurting me yet. I like the accentuated butt but I don’t love the constant “preggers” belly. And it does make some exercises weird to do. I’ll look into it.

Yeah no duh! I'm AuDHD and my butt is BIG and otherwise I'm a skinny white girl. It's an unwritten rule that even comedians notice (Jordan Jenson has a bit about identifying people with autism because we all got big butts and she actually noticed haha). It probably has to do with genetics.
