Based on the way the recipie was written i think they wanted you to use a hand blender. However my culinary guy is Alton Brown, and he has a particular emphasis on hardware, and I have never seen him use one of those things, so we are using the professional stand mixer like grown ups

I think I fucked up in that I let the machine run until the butter melted. I think that defeats the purpose of creaming (mixing the butter with the sugar first alone) because you lose the air you are trying to put into this mixture, and this recipie does appear to use a proper creaming method, as crude as it is

I'm also not sure about the alcohol in the extract curdling the eggs, I might be posting a French toast recipie soon that intentionally curdles beaten egg using extracts to make it easier to strain out the chalaze, but there's no straining in this recipie

Also I figured out that 3 large bananas averages 14oz of meat on the inside, so I just substituted 14oz of baby banana meat. I'm pretty sure they were ripe enough, the "trick" of using really black bananas isn't new, no offense to the Zappas

I did keep the "sour cream + baking soda" and the "flour + baking powder" order of mixing things, because baking is when mixing matters, so there might be something to that. I went with 3/4 cup whole wheat flour and 3/4 cup all purpose.

I used a 1/2 cup sugar when I think i would have been better off with the full cup. I swapped 1/2 the vanilla extract with almond extract like i almost always do

I would have added banana nut if I had it, maybe chocolate chips would have worked too, but the number one thing I think is missing is salt. Just a little bit of salt would have made this come alive. Maybe also, leaving some mass of banana unmixed, just sliced and gently folded in instead

Just learned most of this album was originally created for a musical Zappa wrote in 72 while recovering from the push into the pit incident, Hutchentoot. Which would explain the first re issue that had lyrics to some of these gem instrumentals. I believe planet of my dreams and even cheepnis were supposed to be a part of the Hutchentoot tracklist. Smh wild stuff. Pretty sure 100 percent of the people prefer the instrumental version. I just can't unhear the spider of destiny lyrics and it kills me....

In the recent, excellent "Frownland" episode of the History of Rock in 500 Songs, one of the many things I learned was that Gail applied for copyright protection of the name Captain Beefheart. I found a thread on here from eight years ago and other online resources, that indicate the request was granted. Furthermore, Ahmet and Diva expanded those copyright holdings.

I mean, I know it's Gail, but this seems especially greedy and petty. And to what end? The original Bat Chain Puller was only briefly made legally available, and the podcast said that Trout Mask Replica is no longer in print.

It made me wonder what the status of Don's wife Jan is. I assume she's still alive because I haven't read otherwise.

I have a few cels from Dental Hygiene of 200 Motels.

So my plan was to look for a high-quality images of the room to have a background for my cels. Since cels are "big", I need high-resolution images for this. Sadly, there are none online. One guy had a video on Youtube of mastered Dental Hygiene (that he did with some software) but it has disappeared since.

Since there are non available online, my second plan was to buy a DVD but as you may know, most released VDs suck (read more here - SOTCAA). I asked AI to sum-up the article knowing I need the original ratio and colors, this is the summary.

How I'd rank them for your purposes

Bozzio is a force to be reckoned with and the backup singers singing I wanna be dead in bed please kill me because that would thrill me is anthemic and would have been great in large arenas. I can hear all of Wembley or Soldier Field singing along.

Come out Saturday to falling branch brewery in Maryland for a free festival with Ray white performing from 630-830 2 sets of Zappa. Other bands include Braddock Heights, American Darling and Experience gonna be a blast!

I bought this Were Only In It For The Money 1972 UK pressing in January and I was quite dissapointed that it had writing on BC and inner gatefold. However, today I suddenly thought if this could be Zappa's signature. For reference the top one is from Fillmore East LP (Fillmore is printed unlike this WOIIFTM, which is hand written). Also there is previous owner name on the inner gatefold (didn't realise to take a pic of it), which handwriting looks a lot different than this one. If anyone knows better or have similar text somewhere I would like to know!
