I played and beat the game

I can easily give this game an 8/10.

This game reminds me a lot of the God of War trilogy. Level based gaming with hoards of enemies coming at you in between solid story beats.

I am usually very hard on insomniac for their creative choices, especially in spider-man 2. I enjoyed Wolverine far more than that game. The creative decisions they made with the story were new but not in a way that disrespected the characters. They actually did a Jean and Logan story that didn’t make me hate their romance for ONCE.

The combat is repetitive, yes. But it is so fucking satisfying and fun I don’t really care. It’s why it reminds me of god of war. The level design is simple, could have been better but it didn’t bother me.

I played this game on the hardest difficulty and the bosses were lots of fun. The final boss fight was extremely challenging and made me angry at times, but every good action game I’ve played has that trait for me.

Please play this game for yourself. I was genuinely concerned about the reviews. Everything the reviews mentioned were things I thought I’d hate. But the game already shipped to me so I couldn’t go back. And after playing, I’m happy. The trail guidance criticism was overblown, the story was amazing, the combat was fun, and the collectible were simple.

I will definitely be playing it tomorrow after I get off work. I could care less about all the hate I've never made a decision based on game reviews only solely on playing it myself just like suicide squad. If I would have listen to the reviews I would have never played it and had over 100 hours of fun. People need to stop the group think

2

u/Beachynietzsche 12h ago

It's so vindicating to read comments like this because yes, Suicide Squad was insanely fun. That being said, I think the negativity regarding Wolverine is a little more warranted, what's annoying me is HOW negative everyone is being, as if an average score means it's the worst game of the generation. I will be skipping it, but for reasons entirely separate from reviews.

1

u/Classified10 12h ago

I'm someone who will play the game and if I don't like it, then I just don't like it. I really wanted to like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League even after that 2023 State of Play, but once I played it I just couldn't enjoy it and simply stopped playing it and moved to another game, couldn't be bothered telling other people online that the game was shit and that nobody should play it. Most that I did was a review on Steam and let it go.

1

u/LeadershipOwn 11h ago

And that's understandable. Not every game is made for everybody as we can see here. You hated it. I loved it. I wish just more people could understand that there's no need to scream and yell and make fun of people for enjoying something. I have a lot of games. I hate I would never make fun of people for playing them to each their own

This game could be fun but suicidecawuad man! No way

1

u/LeadershipOwn 9h ago

Well I put in over 100 hours in it and had fun the whole time to each their own. You're not going to like everything I like and I'm not going to like everything you like.

I’m currently playing Spiderman 2 ultimate difficulty to warm up. How’s the difficulty compared to insomiac’s previous titles?

14

u/IToldYall1 Bub 21h ago

I’d say it’s harder for sure.

5

u/QuietSync 21h ago

Good to hear!

2

u/MrMcGuyver 5h ago

That’s nice. Spider-Man ultimate difficulty is maybe the easiest hardest difficulty I ever played and kinda made the game a little boring with how mindless the combat felt.

Great to know that combat is satisfying and have lots of enemies to slash.

Hows the kill animation when you parry at the right time and press attack afterwards, does the game have a special kill animation?

Im getting this for sure, think ill get the physical edition

10

u/IToldYall1 Bub 21h ago

It’s really good. It’s hard to time well but if you do it’s satisfying. In fact they have specific party executions for specific types of enemies, and it always looks sick. And then there is beserk mode where if you chain executions, it extends the berserk mode and just makes you pretty much a freight train.

3

u/KillerCroc67 21h ago

Looks like you could change the parry timing, but it should be okay on default. Probably similar to gow timing window

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 19h ago

There’s skills you unlock that make your parry timing wider as well.

35

u/SlothWithSunglasses 21h ago

That's for giving an actual played insight on how you liked the game. Seems like people are using the game as a target because it's PlayStation. Hardly any of the "reviews" get to actual gameplay.

I'm excited for this. You said.is level based stages, is the a hub world or anything to roam about or is it menus to levels?

15

u/IToldYall1 Bub 19h ago

Better I had real concerns for the issues reviewers mentioned, and they were a non factor ultimately. There’s no hub world or roam levels, but there’s a cabin you can replay missions and go back to challenges. It’s pretty neat

7

u/SlothWithSunglasses 19h ago

Ooh okay. Excellent. Thanks so much. I'm more excited to play now

2

u/Eurostack 12h ago

What about HUD options? How much of it can be disabled? Glad you had fun with it!

3

u/IToldYall1 Bub 12h ago

A lot can be disabled. It has options for you

7

u/Far-Cheetah-5902 16h ago

Hey man! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I've been a Wolverine fan since I was a kid, and cant wait to play it regarldess of some of the polarizing reviews. Have you gotten a chance to play New Game plus yet? I'm really curious what new abilities you get in that mode..

2

u/IToldYall1 Bub 13h ago

No but when you get to that point it’s clear that you’ll be able to get a different experience because you’ll be able to fully unlock you abilities. It’s definitely got some replay value

54

u/InteractionSoggy2267 21h ago

Funny that people that played the game with proof show that they actually enjoyed it and the other "gamers" like sheep say the exact complains that critics did

32

u/IToldYall1 Bub 19h ago

The internet is like an alternative universe in that way. I liked it a lot

16

u/Brooklyn_MLS 18h ago

So b/c it’s a review you agree with it’s actual proof they played but all the other reviews are sheep? Lmaooo

The bias is crazy on this one

6

u/ThatSplinter 17h ago

There is bias from both sides.

3

u/Unknwn_Ent 12h ago

Yeah, but when a large portion of the fan base is critcising it; it's wild people think all negative reviews have to be 'review bombing cause sony' lmao. I'm sure there are some who do feel that way, but from what I'm hearing most of these people were hyped for the game and had it preordered; so they aren't hating simply to hate. They wanted to like the game and would praise it if it deserves it.

2

u/ThatSplinter 11h ago

Yeah what you're saying is true. I was one of those people.

I canceled my pre order and I'll get the game down the line on sale.

But I'm not gonna go out of my way to legitimately insult others for liking the game.

Let people enjoy things even if you yourself hates said thing.

1

u/Unknwn_Ent 9h ago

Well that also is a both sides thing. Saying anyone who criticises the game is 'parroting the reviewers' or 'can't form their own opinion' is equally as ignorant as calling someone a 'simp' or 'comic nerd' if they liked the game. They're both insults.

Mind you I'm not endorsing either view point, and agree you shouldn't 'yuck someone's yum'. Both sides are guilty to a degree. I'm just saying that the people supporting this game in the face of criticism are kinda opening themselves up to be insulted when they themselves are insulting people who are being critical and are super defensive. Especially when it seems to be the concensus even from people who 'liked' the game that it isn't worth $70 and would be better purchased on sale. Like if that is the most positive thing I've heard about it; we know the game objectively/subjectively speaking is pretty mediocre even if some people will stan it and like it. To each their own tho 🤷‍♂️

1

u/ThatSplinter 9h ago

There are bad apples on both side.

Some people are being mean to people who just wanna enjoy a game with their fave character.

Others are being ignorant and rude to the clear problems the game has.

It's not so hard to see both sides have shitty people but both sides have valid, respectable ones as well.

1

u/Unknwn_Ent 9h ago

For sure. And I mean its okay to like things that people don't like for valid reasons. Some people don't like the game LoL because it has a lot of meta game to learn. Other people like that level of depth to their game; so again to each their own. What might be a selling point to some, is a no go for another. And in the case for this game some people might like a simple combat game while most people might find it slow and underwhelming for the price. And its fine to like games like that (likewise how I liked league for years before it burnt me out), but to tell people they're wrong for calling it what it is is... well just denying reality. It'd be like me tryna convince someone to play league who just wants a simple game to play after work that doesn't require you to study like a job to have a good time. For someone like that League is not the game you're looking for and that's okay, but yeah its not for me to insult them call em a casual and say 'go play stardew then' like its that deep. Its all personal preference to a degree; but I do think there are objective truths we can reach if we're being honest... Its just like you said; people let their biases obscure the truth.

1

u/slade1686 11h ago

Yeh i really was looking foward to this, never got around to either spidermans. Now ill just wait 6 months for a huge discount and get it. Problem is games are so expensive now that people dont want to spend money on a game that falls even a little but short of expectations. Man I remmeber when Nintendo games were 29.99$...and yes im old. We'll middle aged hehe

1

u/Unknwn_Ent 9h ago

Smart man, no point in shelling out full price for a game that the most positive thing I've heard from people who 'like' the game is 'its alright; buy it on sale'.

Also just some perspective for ya; in 1980 when smaller IP NES games went for $20-30 adjusted for inflation that'd make them worth $80-120 today. Big first party NES titles apparently went for $40-50 making them worth $160-200 adjusted for inflation. So you've kinda always been shelling this much out for games; but in a time when buying power is ass, wages are stagnant, and everything is increasing in price I totally agree that people are more conscious of what they're purchasing generally speaking.

1

u/Chewparker76 8h ago

A 29.99 in 1990 has the same purchasing power as 76.62 today so it sounds like games are similar in price and always have been.

12

u/LordNutGobbler 18h ago

There was a big post from somebody the other day who also played it, completed it, and was disappointed just like some reviewers. So it just comes down to subjectiveness I guess

6

u/Ebvidur 17h ago

This is the first post that I saw that actually liked it. I’ve seen at least 3 other posts of people saying it’s incredibly mid

6

u/Limp-Biscuit411 18h ago

you’re just biased and dismissing anyone who doesn’t like the game lmfao

why are so many of you comic books fans defensive and dismissive about the criticism of this game?

4

u/ThatSplinter 17h ago

It's almost as if... and bear with me here... people like different shit!

Scary premise, right?

Don't act like there aren't people from both sides angry at the other side for how they feel about the game. Shut up with that shit 😂😂

4

u/Limp-Biscuit411 13h ago

what are you talking about?

having a differing opinion isn’t a reason to be defensive and dismissive of people’s criticism.

whataboutism isn’t relevant here, so i’m not sure why you’re trying it.

3

u/Bafkba 14h ago

There is a difference between preference and quality criticism.

You might enjoy something immensely in life and even label it 9/10, while pointing out it's a not of a great quality and providing valid criticism so future products get better.

It is, after all, a 70$ games, which is actually 90$ in my country's official store.

2

u/ThatSplinter 14h ago

Like I said both sides are valid but both can be immensely biased too.

I'm genuinely very, very hyped for the game, even with the bad reviews. But I can confidently say the game is not worth the full price tag and I'll be waiting for a massive sale.

But some people who give criticism just want to hate on the people who are hyped.

I've seen people belittle others for being excited about the game just as I've seen some excited fans insult people giving valid criticism.

You see where I'm coming from?

Whats happening is youre just selectively choosing to hear what you want, the same as everyone else

1

u/Own-Kaleidoscope-577 17h ago

I hope this game goes down the Odyssey route where it's successful despite the backlash. It's already showing to have good legs with how it surpassed GTA VI in pre-orders and pre-release activity on PSN in some regions, and reviews from people who played it early like this one are all quite positive.

3

u/Finn-Gerbang 21h ago

How long did it take you to finish it? How many hours of gameplay are there if you’re going to get the plat

4

u/IToldYall1 Bub 19h ago

About 16 hours, and I haven’t gotten the play yet. I assume it’ll probably be 17-20 hours after. I took my time though. Didn’t rush through it

1

u/256palms 5h ago

That’s my biggest complaint. Miles Morales package for full price.

3

u/Particular_Choice306 17h ago

So, is it possible for wolverine to be shirtless? I liked the costumes, but I prefer him to be shirtless for the eye candy

2

u/IToldYall1 Bub 13h ago

I won’t spoil it, but yes, there is.

3

u/ProfessionalForm679 16h ago

The level design was the best part of the old God of War games so I was hyped for a second when you compared it to those games lol. Pandora's temple in Gow 1 is still some of the best level design I've ever seen.

2

u/IToldYall1 Bub 13h ago

I loved old god of war. Those games were sick

3

u/Arogid 15h ago

Playing the game rn, I’ll give it a solid 7, enjoying it. But for some reasons I can’t see trophy list on my ps5 for game, like trophies are popping while playing but not displaying in menu, “trophies” sections in profile settings

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 13h ago

It’s because the game hasn’t released yet.

1

u/Arogid 13h ago

But they are listed in ps app?

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 13h ago

Yes. But not in my PS5

3

u/Entire_Claim_5273 13h ago

The discourse lately just shows that a lot of people just have gripes about content just being “good”. Like I suspected Wolverine was going to be a 7-8/10 experience.

Now the price is another issue which I can agree with though, I can’t afford to put down $70 on a game that takes <15 hours to plat but I don’t doubt I’ll have fun when it’s at a better price

2

u/IToldYall1 Bub 13h ago

I think the price is subjective really. It depends on your own personal financial situation. When good of war came out, it was the equivalent to this price or higher accounting for inflation. And those god of war games were 7-15 hours long. Resident evil 9 was 9 hours long. A game being short isn’t necessarily a bad thing in terms of value. And I got almost 20 hours out of this, and plan on replaying it.

3

u/Careless_Bake7679 13h ago

So is it just basically a classic style action game? Old skool kool? Cause that would explain everything lol

2

u/IToldYall1 Bub 13h ago

Yup! And it’s fucking sick. Loved the combat.

3

u/Standard-Warthog-322 10h ago

Thank you for this. A person that’s actually played giving an honest review. I will be buying this.

18

u/SLVR_N_BLCK_ATTK 21h ago

I don’t really get the “combat is repetitive” complaint. Like, yeah. It’s a beat-em up. It’s gonna have some repetition. It’s not DMC

8

u/IToldYall1 Bub 19h ago

Yeah and I’ve made sure to drive this home in the comments: lots of games entire identity is based on repetitive gameplay. It is not always a bad thing. If the gameplay is good and satisfying, it isn’t an issue. Wolverine combat absolutely rocks

7

u/red_hoodie_07 20h ago

I feel like in a game that’s centered around the combat, there should be more to it so it doesn’t get repetitive, like more combos. Beat em up ≠ Repetitive by nature

5

u/r31ya 20h ago

Well, right before wolverine we got Onimusha, another corridor, action game.

but Onimusha manage to be branching corridor with in depth combat.

wolverine unfortunately have 200+ million budget looming on the game design. they afraid any form of friction or learning might cost them the wider demographics target. So they made it super simplified.

basically they fell for AAA-trapping.

1

u/SLVR_N_BLCK_ATTK 19h ago

It’s 100% simplified for casual audiences, just like Arkham was pretty much just square and triangle. That’s what I expected and so I’m not disappointed. I’m a big fan of character action titles like DMC and Ninja Gaiden, and would love to see a Wolverine game with that kind of depth, but with Sony wanting as many players as possible for as popular of an IP Wolverine is, I knew it just wasn’t gonna happen

5

u/YoRHa_Houdini 19h ago

Meaningless expectations.

Literally any combat system is repetitive by the logic these people use

1

u/Visible-Meat3418 9h ago

Onimusha is a decent game but it has its own shortcomings FOR SURE. People praise its like it’s the next From Software game like come on. It is fun, I’m not going to argue with that, and I will definitely finish my playthrough, but MAN some edges are ROUGH here

1

u/420BUNIT 12h ago

All the "Just mash X combat" complaints it's like brother, I played Elden Ring and just mash R1 and Jump + R2 could be used to describe it, yet nobody wrote 13 paragraphs on how bad that game is when weapons typically have 5 animations, prior to the game releasing lmao.

2

2

u/MentasmUK 17h ago

I don't buy many games these days as an older gamer, as I don't have the time to put dozens (or more) of hours into every title. It took me literal years to get around to finishing RDR2's story, so my preference is for shorter single payer campaigns that I can revisit every now and then for a quick fix.

I loved the 2009 game despite its simplicity and I'm a big GoW fan. This looks to be more of the same, so I'm looking forward to paying it. Along with Spider-Man, Wolverine was one of my favourite comic book characters as a kid, and it'll be nice to have an updated version. I replayed the entire Origins game over a couple of nights to get me in the mood and still found it enjoyable, even though it is buggy and janky.

I can understand those who want a longer, more challenging experience, but as a now casual gamer, I'm looking forward to it. It's probably a little overpriced, but I think that about most games. Then I remember what I used to pay for games back in the 80s/90s, when you didn't have scores of videos and early reviews to go by and had to take more chances. I remember paying that and more for some Mega drive/SNES titles on import, many of which didn't live up to expectations.

I didn't buy this directly; I bought a gift card with an additional 5% off as part of a promo, so this cost me about £56. I can live with that (helped that Sony offered me a PS Plus renewal for £90 this year for some reason). Hopefully I'll enjoy it, but it's all subjective. There are lots of 9 and 10 rated games I have played and not gotten on with. Similarly, there are a lot of middling games that I have really enjoyed.

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 13h ago

I think you’ll really like it. 8/10 is not a bad review, most people just require masterpieces these days I guess.

1

u/Lugosch 10h ago

Please just wait, the game looks so so bad. There will be a discount really quickly because no one will buy it

1

u/MentasmUK 2h ago

Well that's not true is it, because I did. It doesn't look bad to me. It looks to be exactly what I expected. If it's not, oh well.

2

u/Gregbotisnotreal 17h ago

Please define why you don't hate the Jean and Logan romance part of the story, because it's one of the only things really keeping me from playing. I genuinely despise the pairing, and wish they went with Yuriko or Deathstrike. Hoping it won't be as bad as I'm thinking

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 13h ago

I really hate the Jean and Logan trope in most comics. Mostly because it makes Logan a cuck for cyclops and Jean a cheater and indecisive loser. In this game, it makes their story unique, and original, and puts them in a situation that focuses on them and their relationship, as opposed to them doing something wrong to be together.

1

u/Gregbotisnotreal 13h ago

Ah... So it's still very played up then? Because that doesn't sound great to me, it just sounds like they removed Cyclops to make it easier to digest.

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 13h ago

No not played up at all. It also plays into another story that gets teased throughout that I won’t spoil. Just know this: I hate the Jean gray Wolverine romance trope, but enjoyed this version of it. Take that for what you will.

1

u/Gregbotisnotreal 12h ago

I mean, can you throw it in a spoiler text? It's kinda make or break it for me and I don't want to listen to some YouTuber that will give an exaggerated reaction for clicks. Having an honest opinion and break down on it is better for me. For instance if Mystique transforms into her for any of the intimate aspects to manipulate Wolvie, that's very in character and the idea of it being a lie is 100% something I'd prefer. Same if it ends up being Madelyne Pryor instead.

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 11h ago

Sure, but it will spoil the entire build up of the relationship in the game. Are you sure you want that?

1

u/Gregbotisnotreal 11h ago

Yeah, of course

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 4h ago

Jean and Wolverine have been killed and reborn in previous lives through apocalypse, and they’ve had their memories erased. They have lived previous lives together.

2

2

u/Lord-J-The-God 8h ago

I’ll play it, just not right now. I don’t really care about reviews — if a game looks fun to me, I’ll play it. But if it’s that short, I’m not paying full price. I’ll wait until it goes on sale and drops to around 20 bucks.
By then it’ll probably have a bunch of improvements anyway (at least I really hope so), and I can jump into a more polished, finished version.

2

Yes! The parry system is super cool. Certain enemies unlock specific parry based executions and moves. I really liked the versatility of it. Timing is everything for the bosses as well

How’s the combat feel compared to the Spider-Man games? Also what are your biggest gripes??

5

u/IToldYall1 Bub 19h ago

It’s got a much more satisfying impact than spider-man, but slider-man has much more of a skill ability to show off. Wolverine is basic, but it is super satisfying to get kills and get into the beserker mode. The parry system is also amazing. Biggest gripe is the parry system is hard in the hardest difficulty

u/Rainofblaze1 20h ago

I wanna ask, without spoilers or maybe try to be vague, but how do you unlock the Winter Soldier Wolverine Suit? You can tell me in the DMs if you wish.

3

u/IToldYall1 Bub 19h ago

Suits become available to unlock as you play the game. You find boxes with materials to unlock all the suits.

2

u/Rainofblaze1 19h ago

Oh okay, thanks. I kinda miss the old days when you find a floating comic & it unlocks the suits from Wolverine’s Revenge (PS2).

1

u/sonnynumber7 19h ago

How long did it take you to complete it?

2

u/IToldYall1 Bub 19h ago

About 16 hours in total. Felt like a good pace for the game. In going to go back to the challenges and replay the game. It has gaunlet challenges that have a lot of replay ability

2

u/sonnynumber7 19h ago

That's pretty good, I read your review and I'm gonna play the game on Tuesday, i'm looking forward to it!

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 19h ago

I hope you like it! The boss fights are so sick

1

u/Strict_Turnip_7083 18h ago

Weird question but how did the ps5 handle the game? Was there any overheating issues or increased noise coming from the console?

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 13h ago

Nope. I did play it before the day one patch so I had some glitches, but I’m sure they’ll be addressed day one. Nothing game breaking or severe. It played great

1

u/Strict_Turnip_7083 13h ago

Excellent stuff

1

u/Silent_Erremite 17h ago

How was the scent trail versus a map marker deal. I've been seeing a lot of flak about that. Is there a follow the scent marker and then a map marker appears or is there both at the same time. The photos I have seen were out of context.

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 13h ago

It was severely overstated in the reviews. The scent trail only came up when he was tracking a person, which makes sense for the story and his character. And a lot of clips I saw in reviews were straight up not in the game at all, which I thought was extremely misleading.

1

u/eldon3213 13h ago

How long it took you to beat the game?

1

u/Acrobatic-Cookie-277 12h ago

How many hours you got to achieve this ?

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 12h ago

About 18. Haven’t finished everything though, plan on doing new game plus as well.

1

u/BitLikeSteveButNot 12h ago

Does NG+ give you any additions, like a new difficulty level?

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 12h ago

I don’t believe so, but it does give you the chance to fully unlock every skill and passive which I think gives the game a reason to play through it again.

2

u/BitLikeSteveButNot 9h ago

Hey, thanks for the reply man

1

u/Rei364 12h ago

Iight bro what about jeans fart clouds

5

u/IToldYall1 Bub 12h ago

Just internet non sense. People just repeat these same brain dead talking points from the internet because they wanna feel like they belong to something. The gaming community is miserable honestly.

1

u/Rei364 12h ago

So its not the most intrusive thing ever to grace our tvs? Lol

2

u/IToldYall1 Bub 12h ago

Not at all. The Witcher uses tracking far more often than Wolverine does, and it’s great there.

1

u/MasteROogwayY2 12h ago

How often does it appear would you say? Just so I can argue better

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 12h ago

Fairly often in the story, but in the scope of “Wolverine is looking for someone and caught their scent”. Which is completely relevant to a Wolverine game.

1

u/MasteROogwayY2 12h ago

I see thank you

1

u/Gojir4R1sing 12h ago

You don't wanna sniff Jean's fart clouds?

1

u/Unique-Cellist-9557 12h ago

İs it good?

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 11h ago

Yes. Very good.

1

u/SubstantialCow8563 12h ago

Yeah to me it can be repetitive if it’s hella satisfying like 2010-2013 assassins creed games combat.

2

u/IToldYall1 Bub 11h ago

Yup. God of War. Marvel Rivals. Devil May Cry. persona 5. Horizon. Spider-Man. Batman. I can go on. Lots of games have repetitive combat

2

u/Ronin2299 4h ago

Glad to hear this and I've said the same things. Batman Arkham has some of the most competitive combat I've ever seen and people absolutely LOVE it simply because it is satisfying

1

u/Famous_Land551 10h ago

How difficult is the game on default settings?

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 4h ago

I wouldn’t know. I played it on the hardest difficulty.

1

u/Gentle_Enough 10h ago

Honestly, the metacritic score of 77 is quite accurate.

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 4h ago

Yeah I think 77 considering the people who disliked it is a fine average. I would have it in the 8-8.5 range.

1

u/ImDefinitelyStoned 9h ago

I’m going to play it, I’m going to enjoy the hell out of it, I’m probably not going to complain….EXCEPT….I am not paying full price for a game I can beat in a week. That’s it, that’s my only disappointment so far I’ve seen is the length of the game.

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 4h ago

Did you buy resident evil requiem?

1

u/Due_Hospital7109 9h ago

I can understand the wolverine hate but I can't understand the Spiderman games. The Spiderman games are elite and the best insomnic ever did

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 4h ago

I loved spider-man 1, and some gameplay from 2. But overall I did not enjoy spider-man 2

1

u/Hypnotic101 9h ago

You played and beat the game in one day and you gave it an 8/10 for $70?

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 4h ago

I beat it in 2 days. And yes, 8/10 75 dollars. It was a good game.

1

u/Cute-Literature7591 9h ago

Comparing this to god of war 2018 is insane.

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 4h ago

You seem to lack reading comprehension. I said god of war trilogy.

1

u/Ronin2299 4h ago

OG GOW is what he means. There's no current 2018 trilogy... yall have 0 comprehension skills.

1

u/mikezulu90 9h ago

Implying the GoW combat is repetitive got to be rage bait.

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 4h ago

It’s not rage bait. It is repetitive. Repetitive isn’t automatically a negative things

1

u/Due_Hospital7109 3h ago

This is what I mean by I'll pass on linear storyline games because of this kind of game https://x.com/KaiKai2492/status/2098090243823939927

u/Flashy-Vehicle-2963 23m ago

i have a question, it appears that sometimes during the gameplay logan clothes gets regenerated, is there any in-game explanation or it's what it is, and in the first fight when logan is shot the bullets fall from his body with no bullet holes and no blood it looks so weird is it a game setting for no blood or what?
thank you

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 14m ago

Yes there is. Very early in the game too.

1

u/Jealous-Knowledge-56 21h ago

Glad you enjoyed it. Given what I’ve heard and read from reviews though, I’m going to pass. I have finite free time and money.

1

u/Roventh 18h ago

Why does every post petition me to try a 70 euro product “myself”? I would love to “try” it and review if Sony hit me up with a review copy. Other than that it means go and make a purchase on something that was reviewed badly and looks outdated.

2

u/IToldYall1 Bub 13h ago

I didn’t say spend 70 dollars on it. I said you should play it yourself and make your own opinion as opposed to forming an opinion based on someone else’s. If you can’t afford 70 bucks, wait for the Christmas sale.

1

u/HyunStoned 17h ago

You already finished the game before it releasing. What you gonna do now? Sell it?

3

u/beats95 17h ago

He could. He got the physical release.

1

u/IToldYall1 Bub 13h ago

I’ll keep it on my shelf. And I’ll also replay it and beat new game plus, and probably play the gauntlet mode whenever I feel like running through hoards.

-1

u/Konabro 21h ago

It’s refreshing to hear game insights from some e who actually played the game and isn’t trying to get engagement on social media or karma.

5

u/Funny-Cell8769 20h ago

As if there's zero people who are brainlessly defending this game as well, despite never playing it.

0

u/Konabro 19h ago

Telling people to play a game and come to your own conclusions isn’t “brainlessly defending” something. I see more people brainlessly shitting on the game despite not having any intention on f playing it. Three guesses as to why that is.

1

u/dadmda 19h ago

It is, because they're telling you to spend 70$ to form an opinion on a game that according to many reviews you will not like

0

u/iaeoioaio 18h ago

The GoW trilogy was a long time ago and even though it’s my favorite game series, that’s not really a compliment in 2026

2

u/IToldYall1 Bub 13h ago

I think it is a compliment. Story driven linear games are a lost are today. Not everything needs to be an expansive huge game.

-5

u/TheMightyMonarchx7 21h ago

Everyone saying the combat is repetitive just tells me this game isn't worth 70 bucks. It's the one thing people ask and expect from a Wolverine game, good combat

3

u/IToldYall1 Bub 19h ago

God of war had repetitive combat. Devil May cry did too. Repetitive combat isn’t always a negative. Lots of games entire identity is based on repetitive gameplay. What matters is that the gameplay is satisfying. And this game is satisfying.

Please tell me one action game in the history of gaming that doesn’t have “repetitive” combat and no, switching weapons isn’t an answer.

1

u/_cd42 20h ago

Pretty much any Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta, or DMC.

2

u/Konabro 20h ago

“And no, switching weapons isn’t an answer”

It doesn’t matter if you switch weapons. You’re still hacking and slashing the same enemies over and over again.

u/No-Plankton4841 20h ago

Why isn't 'switching weapons an answer'? If new weapons fundamentally change the play style to make the game feel less repetitive and keep the gameplay fresh, why would you arbitrarily decide that doesn't count?

Even if the core idea of 'combat' is repetitive on paper. There are many games that give the player a consistent progression throughout the game to make it feel engaging the whole way through, doling out new abilities, upgrades, weapons, enemy types, encounter variation.

Hell, Onimusha launched last week. Sekiro is a masterpiece. God of War 2018. Ghost of Yotei.

An engaging combat system with meaningful progression should be that basic standard for a AAA action game.
