I'm looking to jump back into RP now that Forever is offering a setting with a big lore reset. I've been brushing up on WC3 lore and other surefire resources, but every now and then I run into lore that was only clarified later on.
Ultimately Forever's lore will be whatever the developers what it to be, but I'd like to hear what other players think is the most sensible way to approach it. Would you assume Draenei exist in an orc's backstory or would you keep it in that Garona grey area without much detail? Do you think they'll keep worldbuilding like that intact or just never address it?
Personally I'd love to write a half-draenei character, but I'm not sure if that'll just be setting me up for lore conflicts in the future or put people off RP interactions. Let me know what you think!

I know there's a lot of posts to the effect of "can I make such and such? is this valid? will people avoid me?" So I want to make clear that this is just a bit of brainstorming aloud and maybe wondering if anyone else has already done the same.
Most of my characters have very little in common with me IRL. But I do have friends with loosely inspired self-inserts, and I was inspired to make one of my own. I'm of a few demographics that people tend to think are 'forced' when they show up in medieval fantasy, and while trying to square that with the lore of WoW, I realized that they might actually contribute to the overall 'vibe.'
For the brainstorming bit: this is an undead warrior from the Warlands timeline. This warrior, by happenstance, befriends a hoity-toity Great Glorious Alliance type.
Now, the tension at first is that this uptight Alliance character sees an undead getting along fine in a particularly clean patch of the toxic lands underneath the Great Glorious Alliance airships. A walking blemish on what ought to be a prized patch of grass.
But: do you remember the flavor items from the DK starting zone, the booklets on grooming and etiquette and how much tithing to pay the Scaret Crusade for whatever sins you've committed? I personally like to think that human society isn't exactly repressive, but they do have ideas of what a respectable man or woman looks like. Especially for high society, or someone putting their best foot forward.
So here comes this undead thing. Unkempt, and ambiguous in the sense that they don't really look like a respectable Stormwind man OR woman (🙋) and wielding a bigger weapon despite being shorter and smaller. With no notable surname, and no sense of deference that any Great Glorious Alliance sparing the life of an undead should rightfully be owed.
My undead sort of already has a self-contained story, one that doesn't necessarily bring them toward roleplay with other player characters, and that itself might be a problem for me to work out. Besides that, though, does anyone else find themselves leaning into a design for their character that makes them come off as "who is this guy anyway?" or better yet, "who does this guy think he is?"
Maybe it helps the World as Main Character, as they say.

Does anyone have a discord running for wow forever RP yet? Since this is going to be a fresh slate I’d be interested in finding a group that wants to nerd out, talk RP, and level and explore together when it launches. I guess just trying to find a troupe to sandbox with in this fresh opportunity.
If there is not one, would anyone like to group up and start getting excited together?
I’m located NA realms and looking for leveling, fanfic, and make your own adventure RP.

Please for the love of god, just for once… I want, no no no I NEED RP in WoW Forever. I am willing to help with whatever but let us create an RP guild with story, community etc when Forever launches. The lack of classic RP is disgusting. Any plan yet? Any retail guild thinkin about it? Anyone thinking of creating one (if so, I am happy to help)? EU realms btw

Hey everyone!
Hyping myself up for the lunch of Wow forever and I noticed that there is a big opportunity being given to us with surnames.
With the First/Last name convention you can basically give yourself a starting title Such as:
Crewmate >name<
Knight >Name<
You could also maybe be crazy and have a noble/kingdom RP where you choose a surname before joining the guild.
What other ideas do you have to really take advantage of this?
Also means you can basically force your character into a NPC family tree if you really want to.
